DDoS? Wow that's actually pretty bad, especially if it's just norms. Ranked games would make it so much worse.

yeah, i was trying to figure out why my connection was dcing so much, so i turned on my vpn, sure enough i stopped, turned it off, dced again, and my laner was like, SUPER fucking aggressive, like, he legit even though he was losing trades kept trading, but by that point, i was too far behind, reported him for it, sure enough, he was banned

Direct Denial of Service. Basically they send mass amounts of packets of false data to your router or server to make it slow down (or burn if you have no firewall) which then cuts off your connection to any server or network, or makes you lag horribly. Big hacker groups like Liz Squad and Anonymous have used this to shut down gaming servers and make games unplayable. Literally not fun at all.

Distributed* Denial of Service. The first D means the attack is coming from multiple sources, which facilitates the massive amount of incoming traffic. For large scale DDoS attacks, it's typically a botnet.
