Analysis for the current Tristana 5.4/5.5 and recommendations

Currently Tristana is in a rough spot. Her reported win rates and damage dealt are some of the lowest among all ADCs currently. I believe I have spotted two of her most problematic areas, her range and her attack speed.

Tristana, even after her rework, is still a very traditional ADC. She likes to shoot at people (who have her Explosive Charge) at range and only jump in if it will secure a kill. The problem is her range is at odds with her kit until late game. Tristana starts out with 550 range, the same as Vayne. However, while Vayne has a number of tools that make her a great assassin at this range, a stun, a low CD dash, true damage, Tristana has none of these. That is fine due to trying to make her early game difficult for late game rewards. The problem is that Tristana only gains 7 range per level from her original 9. This causes Tristana to only reach classic ADC range of 600 by level 9/10. This makes Tristana's job much more difficult as games are designed to end much sooner and cannot achieve her full range.

Speaking of late game, it isn't much better for her. Tristana reaches “long” ADC range at about level 15/16 marked by Caitlyn, about a standard game should be ending and capping out a 669 range. For stacking to get to 18, Tristana still does not have the longest range, that is held by Jinx at level 9 with 700 with Fishbones. While it does cost Jinx some mana, it also gives her 10% bonus AD, and a 150 radius splash per hit.

The second problem is Tristana's attack speed scaling. Early on her attack speed on par with Ashe, however, as the game continues, the poor scaling causes her to end up ~.3 behind Ashe. Jinx has a similar scaling, if starting slightly lower, but is covered by Pow-Pow, which allows her to hold a steady +1.0 attack speed at no cost. Tristana on the other hand needs to use her Rapid Fire ability to deal more consistent damage, but only last 5 seconds and has a 20 second cooldown. If this is able to hit a target with an Explosive Charge, the cooldown will be reduced by up to 5, but her limited range makes that problematic and even then, it will not be back up for the remainder of a skirmish.

I would recommend increasing Tristana's attack speed growth and see how it improves her. If that is not enough, look into increasing the scaling for her passive.

I would like to thank Frightning with his help on the math for attack speed.

TLDR: Tristana's attack speed growth and passive scaling feel too low and should be considered for buffs.

If it wasn't for the top offenders i think should would be a more viable pick but i do agree she needs a buff especially when you consider that she gets beat out by non-late game adcs in late-game

You keep taking parts of kits without mentioning Trist's strengths.

Tristana has Jinx's attack speed boost at Caitlyn range with the peeling capabilities of Vayne whilst supporting decent base stats and burst.

The problem is that Tristana only reaches Caitlyn's range at level 15/16. Jinx on the other hand should have 50 more than Caitlyn's range by level 9 at 700, and good Jinx players can juggle both Pow-Pow and Fishbones to keep at least some of the attack speed at the longer range. Tristana on the other hand has a decently long reset on her attack speed, which is natively covered as a passive with Jinx' kit. In fact, Jinx has a longer range than Tristana's end game once she maxes Fishbones as Tristana's range caps out at 669, which is a bit sad seeing that for making to end game, someone else does it better sooner.

The Vayne comment is flat wrong. Vayne can Tumble every 6-2 seconds and has a knockback with a potential stun on a 20-12 second cooldown. Tristana can Rocket Jump every 22-14 seconds and has a knockback on a 100-70 second cooldown. Vayne also has 5 more base movement speed. In all ways, worse.

Tristana's strength currently is her Explosive Charge and destroying towers, her kit just doesn't support it well enough. In the past, her strength was having the longest range in the game by the end and good attack speed, both which have been removed from her kit.

Except the part where Rocket Jump can cover far more ground and go over terrain.

I mean sure, if Vayne can get off more than one Condemn in a fight (highly unlikely) then more power to ber, but Buster Shot is far superior in every regard for peeling.

And you forget, Vayne is only doing this at 550 range - Tristana is doing this well above Caitlyn range.

That is true, it can cover more ground and go over terrain, however, the amount of gap closers and flash like abilities make it less useful for a single long jump than a lot of short jump on a low CD, simply look at Vayne, Nid, and Kalista and their ability to escape.

It isn't just in one fight, with Buster Shot, once you use it, you won't have it up again for a while. Vayne on the other hand will have her Condemn back up retentively soon for the next skirmish, giving her more safety so she can secure that kill and still be able to get out.

Vayne has a consistent tool for getting in and out of combat, making that 550 much easier to deal with. Tristana on the other hand won't hit Ashe's range until lvl 9, and Caitlyn's range until level 16. Her old kit allowed her to get that at 13, a small change, but one that gives her much more survivability and her identity which is a big part on why she is suffering so much. Furthermore, they tried to giver her "higher highs" and "lower lows" by gutting her rapid fire and attack speed causing her to be reliant on Rapid Fire to deal any consistent damage.

The newest changes on the PBE are not much better as they are trying to buff the power and/or utility of Explosive Change, making the kit even more reliant of hitting it do anything, while not adding any ability to consistently do so.

I anticipate at this rate, Riot will continue to buff Tristana slowly over several months trying to drag her win rate out of the mud while not touching the range or attack speed, leaving Tristana a polarizing champion.

Funny because I made about 40 posts when Trist was "reworked" aka nerfed, and said that Riot gutted her but forum trolls who didnt know shit seemed to think she was buffed because "muh E tower dmg". Trist is fucking terrible right now. They gutted her and stole her identity and forum trolls STILL believe she is good.
