Thornmail should deal stacking true damage over time based on the user's maximum health

Why?

  1. Limit bruisers from abusing it but allowing Tanks to use it really well

  2. It dealing magic damage makes it deal less damage to everyone since everyone has MR

  3. It would deal less damage effectively if they attacked you 3 times but a lot more if they attacked you like 8 times

  4. Possibly have it give less armor than it does currently because this is a rather large buff

Well the current thornmail isn't bad. Yes it deals damage but then again it's basically made against ADCs. And ADC's generally don't build MR. Even as a last item GA or QSS isn't very much total defense against magic damage if you also take their HP into consideration.

Im trying to optimize and modernize Thornmail to be useful against ALL autoattackers not just ADCs.

So, basically, only tanks can use it? That's sort of how it already is but it'd be even more so. So that it actually kinda limits build diversity when I kinda feel like it's fine how it is right now.

Everyone can use it, its just better on tanks.

I really like the idea of health scalings, it would be a good way to give the tanks some love.

It, however, should also still have scalings based on the attacker's ad (maybe you weren't planning to remove it, I don't know). The ideas of dot and true damages are interesting too, but I don't think there is a need for these particuliar changes.

Your own health + high armor + scaling off of attacker's AD is a bit too much

It already basically scales off of their AS now with it dealing scaling damage per stack

No.

For a combination of three specific reasons:

  1. Stacking
  2. True damage
  3. Based on %maxHP

This would be broken OP.

I doubt you realize that Thornmail's passive doesn't apply to on hit effects.
