People who like DQ are a very small minority.

Guess what? Anyone can say anything to the contrary, since there's no solid proof of either.

But the fact of the matter is there's far more evidence that the majority hate DQ, than there is that the majority like it.

Queue times themselves are proof that the population is dropping/far less people playing DQ. Pros, streamers, high elo players have all repeatedly spoken out against it - with not a SINGLE one having anything good to say about the system. Upvotes vs downvotes, both on here, reddit (thousands and thousands more per thread than here), and youtube ARE in fact, actual representations of the population, whether you like it or not. In the same way a survey is vs those who don't even bother to participate in it.

To be clear, I don't even play ranked (yet) - the way DQ effects me is that it affects this game's entire community. If the population drops, and the game slowly dies that affects me. Especially if what's left is the tryhards and the toxic scum of league, since all the casuals have actually left. Not to mention larger variations in elo, per match.

Queue times are garbage even in normals. And premades/bad matchmaking are still a problem there, and seem to be becoming even more so when those who don't want to deal with ranked queue times, trickle down into normals. And if I do play ranked anytime soon, the BS matchmaking/premades is still a problem.

Honestly at this point if you don't think there's anything wrong with DQ you're either dense and think DQ = new champ select, or a troll. It's a problem, time to face it and stop living in another world and pretending everything is perfect.

I like dynamicq cuz i play casually and only really like playing with pals, if it was removed i wouldnt be bothered because i play casually and would just play normals with pals. No idea why riot wants to hurt the competitive serious players and cater for casuals who really arent bothered when things change.

Truly am sorry they took your soloq away item 3070 xox

Thank you for actually being unbiased! There are too many casual players on here who wouldn't have been bothered by either solo or dynamic queue assume that just because they wouldn't be bothered, dynamic queue isn't a problem for those who would. That's purely anecdotal and very assumptious logic for them to think is valid.

Saianna2 votes

I think there is logic flaw in your statement.

You like to play cassualy with pals... So i guess you play normals (as they are tru-tru place for casual players, no hate.. just that's how it is). In other words you do something that was always open for you to do, teaming up with friends to play normal games (i dont remember normals having team size limit).

Then ranked... Well I myself do NOT play it, but isn't it the place where you test your skills? Where tryharding is praised? So playing ranked casually is.. at least weird.. No?

what riot wont tell you....

number of games played this season vs last.

number of ranked players total.... was 3million last season, now currently 1.7million. (from OP GG, for NA server)

frustration is at an all time high, where instead of 4 reports being generated against 1 troll is now the reverse, 4 reports are now generated against the 1 normal person. leading to "toxicity is at an all time low, we never thought we could get these numbers!"

(where each of the 4 aforementioned players would each be in separate games they are all now in one game sending out false reports and they themselves just aren't being reported because you just dont report your friends"

This.

This speaks for itself. No need to make guesses about what people who don't even speak feel. Numbers, and for that matter lies and silence from Riot, speak for themselves.

"toxicity is at an all time low, we never thought we could get these numbers!" LOL that and also this one "we never had that much peoples playing ranked game before this season" LOLOLOL yeah after you cut solo TT rank aswell as soloQ and sure lets kill dominion, oh and also ranked 5's and lets not forget the missed teambuilder queue.

when i heard socrates said toxicity is at an all time low i was behind my screen and spitted my coffe out and start laughing so hard my abs still hurt today AYY LMAO

Battlecast Sona7 votes

you're honestly either not playing or an idiot if you feel otherwise. Toxicity has gone waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay done in comparison to previous queues. The only queue I ever experienced that was less toxic than DQ was Team Builder.

It's fine to not like something, but there's no reason to pretend that it increased toxicity. Statistically they're not wrong - most people's games in DQ are way less toxic than they were previously.

Very Hard Engage7 votes

thats because you are removing the people who normally report you from your games and replacing them with friends who cant report you, its not that you drop your F bomb any less, its that when you say

"dom you piece of S" on chat with your friends, riot doesn't care because it went unreported.

Battlecast Sona2 votes

that feel when I haven't played with other people in league in almost six months regularly.... yep, you're not wrong

Very Hard Engage3 votes

then its the reverse, all the trolls are out of your games in their own premade, again, not reporting eachother.

there aren't less trolls, they've just been redistributed.

Lirik3 votes

i didn't said that toxicity has increased... wtf are you even talking about ? and if you don't understand a simple thing as the toxicity has shifted towards being 5 man argueing in a single team its more 2-3-4 premade shitting and crusing 1-2-3 solo players every game. IN WHICH CAVERN ARE YOU LIVING ?

Battlecast Sona6 votes

I have only played solo in DQ since it's release. I have never been trolled or flamed by a premade. Please try again.

General Esdeath 13 votes

I always have people tell me DQ is awesome because we're assigned roles, they don't understand that's champ select.

Mr Fidori3 votes

And posts that complain that queue times are long sometimes, don't understand that that's also champ select.

General Esdeath 2 votes

No, that's DQ trying to match pre-mades with solo players by balancing out MMR and ranks. The new champ select only adds onto that in the highest elos. Which is why you'll see some streamers like QT and Voy pick fill just to get into a game faster, because those people don't mind swapping roles.

OneSmoothDude2 votes

It's a combination, actually. Both DQ and NCS affect matchmaking negatively.

And now Riot has decided that in order to fix queue times at high elo, they're taking away both of these; people can't queue with 4 or 5 people, and their choice of role is taken away as well with autofill.

Hopefully the game remains popular enough that this won't be needed at lower elos.

DeathBurst16 votes

But the fact of the matter is there's far more evidence that the majority hate DQ, than there is that the majority like it.

We, the public, have far more evidence that the majority hates DQ. Riot has access to more data than us, and they say their internal data contradicts what's publicly available. Now you have 2 choices. You trust Riot, or you think they're lying. If you think they're lying, you should stop playing the game and supporting the company, no matter if you love or hate DQ.

Queue times themselves are proof that the population is dropping/far less people playing DQ.

Absolutely not... It's only a proof that there is an imbalance in the lane preferences. There could be only 10 people playing LoL, if they are 2 of each lane, it's still good. There could be the entire population of Earth playing LoL, if there is only 2% of Supports, you'll still have issues. Allowing pre-mades complicates the puzzle of assembling a whole team a bit, but the root cause is still the lack of Supports.

if you don't think there's anything wrong with DQ you're either dense or a troll

Well, nobody's thinking that, like, at all. Not even me, as a fervent defender of DQ. Not even Riot themselves. Have you watched the video? O_o We all agree that there are problems with DQ, that's not the difference between you and me. No, the difference between you and me is that I still think that DQ is fundamentally a good thing, that it has useful properties, and that we should try to resolve the problems. You, on the other hand, think that DQ is fundamentally a bad thing, and you use the actual problems as pretexts to ask for the Queue removal. So obviously, people like me just de-bunk your bad pretexts, and nobody is actually discussing about the real issue, which is "Is DQ a good or bad thing, in principles?". Not the actual current implementation, but the philosophy behind it.

I made numerous posts about it, and it was never well received. But if you want Riot to remove DQ, you need to stop talking about technical issues, and you need to challenge their philosophy that a DQ Ranking is representative of a "good" LoL player. Everyone has a strong opinion on that, but nobody is actually debating about THAT, and yet it's the only debate that should matter.

I disagree that DQ, as a replacement to SoloQ, is a philosophical good but right now let's just enjoy a post that isn't name calling or conflating different points.

Ira Gamagori2 votes

Well yeah, but you have to admit things are kinda scary, at the moment. Nearly all the pros are leaving for an In-House Solo Q, which will severely hit the streaming scene, and don't forget that people are really quick at jumping the ship. Honestly I just don't want another Dawngate. Its heart-wrenching to see something you love and have genuine fun playing wither away and die before your very eyes. I just wish we could be a little more accepting. The system maybe flawed, but we won't solve anything by shouting and assaulting others.

@op so riot having hundreds of thousands of players that don't complain about no solo Q is more then a few hundred crying to have SQ back on the forums?

So riot having "hundreds of thousands of players" that don't tell us they like DQ at all, is more than the gargantuan majority who do vote and say they hate it?

It goes both ways kiddo. Just because you don't see every single person on here and reddit complaining, doesn't mean they don't all dislike the hell out of it. Not everyone uses forums, doesn't mean they haven't quit playing ranked, or flat out quit league already.

L2logic, or L2trollbetter.

M Dragon145 votes

He's actually wrong about the hundreds of thousands not complaining.... Add a few zeros at the end and the number would be more accurate. League has how many players? at least 20-30 million active. How many are complaining about DQ? Less than 100k. Yeah, the boards are saturated with tons of people complaining, but that's where you go when you are unsatisfied. You know where the people go when they are satisfied? In game.

Why doesn't anyone understand what selection bias is?

General Esdeath 3 votes

Don't forget around 70% of the "accounts" are either inactive, smurfs, or people who don't touch ranked. Another 10% of that is "high elo" (Above gold) and those guys try to have the adjustment mentality.

Don't forget around 70% of the "accounts" are either inactive, smurfs, or people who don't touch ranked. Another 10% of that is "high elo" (Above gold) and those guys try to have the adjustment mentality.

Where's your source of the 70%?

General Esdeath 2 votes

Riot's said before how many people (%) each elo is made up of. 30% makes up plat+ last time I checked. Probably changed with the influx of players joining/leaving.

M Dragon141 votes

That stat doesn't cover the part where you said "70% of the "accounts" are either inactive, smurfs, or people who don't touch ranked."

So, again, where is that source?

General Esdeath 2 votes

Meant to say 30% makes up ranked with the focus being on plat (the 10%). If 30% is in ranked, where's the 70%?

M Dragon141 votes

I don't seem to understand. So you mean that OVERALL, 30% of leagues pop is ranked, and 70% is non ranked? Is that what you're saying? Or are you saying that 30% of all league players are in plat+? Or are you saying that 30% of all ranked players are plat +?

Nevermind, I got it.

As for the 70%? I have no clue. That number would most likely be the normal players right? Either through TT, SR, or ARAM.

Edit 2: Also, I think your 10% for plat+ is right, or close enough.

General Esdeath 1 votes

The 70% would be non-ranked, could be TT, Aram, normals, custom, rotating, or inactive, but the point remains that they don't really matter when doing statistics about ranked because they don't play it. I never played Dominion, so if Riot made a survey about a chance (Assuming it was still around) they should not ask me anything or consider me part of the statistic of players.

M Dragon141 votes

Ok. that makes sense. But the fact of the matter, even with that considered, you would need at least ~1 million players to be in opposition to DQ for anyone to say that opinion is in the majority. Nothing even close to that has been seen so far. I'd say it's less than 100k. Not to say that there aren't that many players in opposition, but that it has yet to be seen.

Edit: I'll provide a source for the 1 million number if you need/want it.

General Esdeath 1 votes

The problem is not all the people for/against use forums. Which is why I think Riot should make a poll for it. But it would have been best to do it 1 month after the season started, before people (including LCS pro players) stopped playing.

M Dragon142 votes

I would agree. The poll they did before was a bit, well biased, I would say.

18000 dislikes on their round table video is a lot more than just a few hundred... and that's just those who bother to express their dislike/watch the video. And even if this weren't the case, nearly EVERY pro has vocally expressed dislike for DQ. The players that Riot makes their LCS $$ off of?

People not voicing an opinion =/= liking. Think of Donald Trump, I hear people complain about him all the time. If someone hasn't said ANYTHING about Trump, good or bad, do you assume they like him?

yeah I completely agree with you on this. A large sub-set of people who complain about DQ are most likely not affected by it. I was able to get to gold all by myself without duoing much, if at all. People over exaggerate about the premade trolls because honestly, if you aren't an asshole then they won't really mess with you. While it sucks for higher elo players. for the general mass its really good and riot intends to keep building up the system

"The majority likes DQ"

I think they tolerate it, huge difference. Let's say Riot proved to me 90% of the players loved it. Then I would tolerate it, I'd still dislike it but I wouldn't try to remove it. Also, if it's the majority, why are there at least 10 new anit-DQ posts a day?

USG Failsawce4 votes

The biggest problem is, that even if there are those out there that do in fact legitimately like DQ (not new champ select, since the two are different)... queue times alone for those people are going to be off putting. Casual or not.

While casuals will be far more inclined to log off for the day, or stop logging in as often, or period - due to having to wait 30-45 min for a match. Especially with how many dodges it seems like there is before every match these days. That increases queue time even more.

It's just going to keep getting worse... long queue times will beget further long queue times. And so on. It's a cascade of the worst kind. And it's how games/communities die.

Can't tell you just how many other games I've seen this exact thing happen in. And how many people pretended it was perfectly fine til the very end...

MuyAstuto3 votes

I dislike DQ, but I dislike these hyperbolic arguments more. It is much more likely that the majority of players (who are casual) don't even know what dynamic que is or that anything has changed in the last few seasons. They know que times are a bit higher, maybe.

Most people just hit the button to que up and don't pay any attention to how anything works.

Started playing ranked only recently to quit just as quickly; the number of times I've been paired with other solo players against 4 or 5-mans has made the experience totally insufferable. I didn't even get the chance to play SoloQ but I'm begging Riot to reconsider the path they've set out on.
