I just think it's a damage meta.

Marshbouy6 votes

Completely true. Thank keystones for that, im just asking this because every other gameplay post or comment is "omg ADCs can draintank a zed" or "omg a maokai just dived my team and one shot the ADC" it's pretty funny tbh

Until bot lane can actually have more than one class as the carry, I'm always going to feel like the ADC role is going to have some influence on the meta, even if it's not "technically" an ADC meta at the time.

Even mid lane, the ability (as in spells) carry role typically has at least two distinct classes operating, and jungle/top even more so. Even support has at least two different classes as well. For bot lane carry, it's always marksman, marksman, marksman :/

Everything does more damage then long time players are use too.

thank keystones for that

it's been a ADC meta since the beginning of season 1, adc's are so strong the meta's revolve around the ADC meta

Critmaster Garen6 votes

this is still an adc meta. just because people have gotten used to it since they have been shoehorned into every game for 6 years, and any meta shift that drifted away from it has been immediately killed by the nerf hammer, doesnt mean the game is less adc centric.

HateDaddy4 votes

Truthfully adcs are always meta but to answer you question, I don't think we are in a meta dominated by adcs atm. There's really only two reliably good ADCs. A little bit of everything is good right now tbh.

Nothing can really touch tanks/bruisers 1v1 until min 30-40 except for some some champs that are designed to shred tanks. But full build late game hyper carry adcs can 1v1 tanks, so obviously adcs are busted kek.

Kempachi Taichou3 votes

The answer is neither....

It's a team meta. Every lane tries way too hard to be the carry. 4 glass cannons and one support, that's if they even choose a legit support. They lose. Teams that play with 2 carries and 3 supporting roles wins more.

A team that you will see lose often looks like this... TOP Teemo JG Nidalee MID Yasuo BOT KogMaw SUP Brand

A team that wins often but you almost never see looks like this... TOP Chogath JG Amumu MID Syndra BOT Varus SUP Nami

Can you see the difference?

Caítlyn3 votes

You just answered it. More tanks wins

Kempachi Taichou7 votes

It's not about the tanks, it's about the utility they bring. I could replace Chogath with Lulu and still win more often than glass 4 cannons....

Blue Moon Wolf1 votes

Then wouldn't that mean it's a Utility meta? It makes sense. ARAM is normally won by whoever has the most pokes/utility and if we look at that as a faster paced SR match (Like Riot said they think of it as), then the stronger mechanics would become more apparent in that mode.

Kempachi Taichou2 votes

A utility meta, I can agree with that.

Sire Hippington1 votes

Now try that utillity without an adc that brings the damage... IF you have setups around 3-4 people supporting the adc, it's quite obviously an adc meta for me.

Kempachi Taichou1 votes

There's an ADC and an APC in the line up. Either one can snowball, but it's team comp that wins...

Marshbouy4 votes

Well, you are correct. A team comp will beat a non team comp but im talking about overall. A yasuo malphite comp has a really high winrate, but that doesn't make malphite meta. (just an analogy)

I'm talking about overall. If bruisers are stronger average a winrate of 54% while ADCs are an average winrate of 50%, it's safe to say that its a bruiser meta.

or you just suck at interpreting statistics.

there are at least 2 adc in every single game, while not every game has one or two bruisers. this fact alone should tell you its an adc meta, because you simply have a really shitty chance of winning games when not bringing an adc to a team. while bruisers are usually interchangable with mages, tanks and assassins. heck, there are even solo lane supports that can take their place on a team.

but that taken aside, adc are 100% always laning against each other on bot lane, if there are not 2 adc on the same team. one of those adc always wins and one always loses. due to adc being played much more as a class, their winrates will average out more than those of bruisers who have very low winrates vs. some matchups while having really high winrates against others. means IF they are picked, theyre usually picked into very specific favourable matchups.

Marshbouy4 votes

I was just using a hypothetical scenario. bruisers don't atually have a 54% winrate

Woook3r5 votes

yes but you triggered the critmaster

Ralanr4 votes

As much as I like the guy, can't deny he has triggers.

you said, if bruisers have a higher winrate than adc it must mean its a bruiser meta. i just pointed out the flaws in this argument, since it ignores matchups and playrate of both classes.

kayle has the highest winrate % on top lane, and had this winrate for a long time. its still not a "kayle top lane" meta.

Marshbouy1 votes

I forgot literally one thing which was playrate. You got triggered so hard over that. literally all you needed to say was "as long as their playrate is high"

Sire Hippington1 votes

That doesn't change the fact that winrate alone is not a clear indicator on whats strong or meta.

CeexSett1 votes

"there are at least 2 adc in every single game (...) this fact alone should tell you its an adc meta"

What? ADCs are picked because they are mandatory for late game damage, range abilities and objective taking. Even when they are at their weakest they are still always picked, like they were in the season 5 REAL tank meta.

Everyone pro players and casters and their mother says its cancer mage and tank meta but bronze gameplay people say its adc meta because they are picked to take turrets for the first 40 mins of the game rofl

then explain why when asked which champion is currently the best, a pro player (I think it was huni) responded without hesitation "sivir!" and he is clearly not the only one who thinks that because sivir is currently one of the highest pick/banned champions in the LCS

Its been tank meta since the beginning of LoL.

Whoever has more tanks ALWAYS wins.

LA Losty1 votes

Neither.

Umbre0n1 votes

Personally i don't think its either. Currently no role is really standing out at the moment which is good, all roles seem all pretty equal with each other with a few exceptions of champs that may be too strong at the moment but otherwise its just Team Comp meta where a strong team comp will win games.

Geshultz1 votes

Its honestly not an ADC meta at the moment. IF it was mages and assassins would be unable to kill ADCs when they are alone without any support from their team. Which is not the case at the moment. However if tanks can reliably kill ADCs late game during a team fight then it is a tank/bruiser meta. If it is a mage meta then the mages can easily kill everything without any risk in 1 rotation of spells, same with assassins. However the strongest class at the moment would be mages with the ability to have more overall health, well maintaining current burst levels.

Lord Galvatron1 votes

Neither, it's (still) the Mage meta. Ever since the mage update mages are generally more favorable and versatile as well as "updated" (Malz, Fiddle, Taliyah, Brand, Syndra, etc.). This plus the buffing of AP/Magic pen items and weakening of MR items makes it a better choice to play more mages then AD counterparts.

Marshbouy1 votes

It's might be a mage meta, im not sure, im not an expert. I just asked this question because gameplay posts on the boards are like "a tank just one shot me" or "tanks last less than 2 seconds in a teamfight" and a different variation "ADCs are useless" or "ADCs can 1v1 tanks at 20 minutes" I wanted to see what the general consensus was and create a discussion post :/

I think its a Bruiser Meta to be honest. Not a Tank Meta, a Bruiser Meta. All the really scary picks are the beefiest of each class but not necasserily Tanks, like Ekko, Volibear, Jax, Yasuo, and all that such. It is mainly due to Bruiser items beind usually hybridish items that provide both offense and defense at little cost to either.
