Lets define Elo Hell
To all you nay sayers who say elo hell doesn't exist; your wrong. but i think that is because your are defining it wrong.
lets say for example you truly play at a master tier level
in that case you are going to win the majority of games for two reasons in bronze silver and gold the first of which is obvious reason 1 is you are always going to be better than anyone else in bronze silver and gold. but more importantly is reason Number 2 is that in the goes where your teammates DOES feed your are SO much better than your opponent you are already more fed than them or are good enough to outplay them even when their fed and carry the game
so as a master tier play your can easy get fed in your lanes satisfying reason number 1 for victory and in gold silver and bronze you are easily going to outplay fed opponents because probably more fed than they are.
the issue arises when you can VERY easily satisfy reason number 1 and win your lane in almost every game. yet you cannot satisfy reason #2 where say your currently in lets say silver 2 but you play at a gold 5 level getting your lane vs any player who is silver 2 will make you win lane.
except this is a team game and the closer you get to your actual skill level you are more likely to get EVEN lane matchups because although i think the tea that is better overall generally wins. you CAN NOT control your teammates are, save for the 1 person you can duo with
this mean even if you win your lane 70% of the time the random factor of teammates doing particularly bad in their lanes and quite frequently negate the fact that you are generally winning yours.
now because of statistics you will EVENTUALLY get to the level where your win your lane 50% of the time. because over a long period of time the 70% or so win rate will allow you to VERY slowly rise to your proper level.
EXCEPT this take times.
so now we can define elo hell
Elo Hell is the period of time where you can pretty much win your lane the vast majority of times yet you are no longer so much better than you can carry your team when your teammates feed.
to players this makes them feel like every time they win its because they carried. and every time they lose it's because they couldn't carry because a teammate fed.
because as soon as your reach the point where you satisfy reason #1 but not reason#2 it means you can no longer single-handedly control the outcome of your games. and when you cant do they need to rely on your teammates. and maybe in ranked teams this isn't the case, but in solo que that slow or waving up and down with winning and losing streaks, always slowly rising, but taking forever to get there because you cant rely on your teammates... THAT is elo hell.
So if you a truly are a plat 1 player you arn't going to find elo hell in bronze, silver or gold, your going to find elo hell as son as your reach plat. becuase up until that point you satisfy both reasons 1 and 2. whereas a gold 1 player is going to start encountering elo hell at around silver 5 to silver 3.
and if that wasnt complex enough that is assuming you always get your best champ and your best role.
what if the situation changed. what if you make play adc vayne at a plat 2 level but your only around gold 3 at mid and top. and your like silver 2 at support. this is goign to compound the effect of elo hell it means you actaully be playing at a level at or below what your currently ranked at. making it that much harder for you to positively effect the outcome.
So to those nay sayers who say elo hell donest exist because your stuck in silver 5 when your really play your main at a gold 1 level. because their plat 2 and they were quite easily about to get out of silver. you tell them to STFU why they may be plat 2 and better than you at league... your better than that at... something else.
Wow that was a really horrid ending.. but that's all for tonight. Catch you guys later
