Ranked play and getting promoted

Honestly, it seems to be very improbable to easily win 5 or 6 games in a row, and then during your series, get trolled to death every time. Its almost as if you are matched with bad players during you series on purpose.

I have a solution I think is fair. Most of the anger that this game causes in people comes from lack of control. You are powerless---if you get a bad player on you team, you can't really do anything. And despite you playing very well, you still may lose the match and it was beyond your control. I think people don't appreciate, psychologically, what mind...fudge... that is. YOUR individual rank and score is based on how well you do, but also on how well 4 other people you don't know do.

SO, to help alleviated this issue, I think that when a player is in series, that player should be matched into a games where they get either 1st or 2nd pick, randomly. This way, at least they were able to bring their best to the match, even if the rest of their team is garbage.

Vote or die.

It does seem that way. This is my theory. (take it with a grain of salt - I do not actually know if this is correct)

When you enter a series. Say, S1 to GV, your MMR is right on the border of the next rank up. This means you are going to be matched with people at the low end of that rank who have similar MMRs. The problem is, the majority of players that have low MMRs in that rank are likely on tilt and super frustrated and discouraged, otherwise they would be in the higher range of that rank and you wouldn't be matched with them.

In the case of the Garen I had, looking at his Lolking profile showed me that in the past week or so his LOLKing score dropped from around Silver 2 to Silver 4. He had been tilting, as I suspected.

Basically this creates a hurdle situation or you, where you are more likely to be matched with players on tilt, both on your team and on the enemy team because your MMR is the same as the low-end of the next rank.

My theory could be totally wrong, but it makes sense to me. I would suggest being hyper friendly and enthusiastic in your series - it makes a huge difference and can change the attitude and playing of somone who is discouraged and on a losing streak.

In my last series (S3 to S2, not high elo or anything) I had two AFKs/trolls. One was on the enemy team. Their jinx spent the first 15 minutes raging about her teemo support, then afked. Neither of them had even died at that point, but she was 20 farm behind me so I suspect she was just raging about being behind even though it was her own fault. It isnt like my soraka was doing anything. Literally the most boring bot lane I have ever played. She AFKed and we won. I was second to last pick.

The next game we had the AFK. Garen called gg after xin died to darius during a gank, then he died in lane, afked in based and talked crap about xin. Meanwhile wukong ganked bot several times and got them kills, darius freefarmed, and xin decided to try to solo veigar for me while I was in base and gave him a kill. We were 4 to 15. Garen lololololed at xin dying to mid amd started trolling by following xin around and stealing camps and exp from him.

We won that game. I solo killed darius twice at which point garen started to realize tat darius was bad because a freefarmed darius with several kills should not be solokilled by a morgana with one. I asked him nicely to participate and the next time I went after darius garen got the kill by running in and ulting after i left darius low. Then sivir soraka and me won a 3v5, and the tides started turning. I was last pick that game.

Point is, where you are in the pick order does not matter, how you play with the role you get, the team you get, and the champion you use matters. You will not get your main every game, so lay the best you can play and if your team performs better in the end, you will win, even if your teammates give up an early lead or troll.

Well that's great. In the last 10 series I've had, AFKs did not play any part. REALLY bad players---like 0/11/1 ADCs....and I'm sorry, but I have a hard time believing that its random. EVERY series I play, my teammates are markedly worse overall than a regular ranked game. How could we ever know if Riot matches players in series with bad players just to make it harder to move up in rank to force them to play even more?
