I don’t get why people are so mad about the Wukong Rework.

Can we at least be happy he was given attention? Can we be happy he was given a rework without being a full scale rework that would make him an entirely different champion when his visuals and abilities behave as fine as they are?

I get it, it took a long time to finally experience the changes but I would rather have something take a long time if the quality is good. They do need time to test changes and see if they are good and even then, no can see if the changes are truly good until the public gets to experience the changes and provide feedback.

It’s impossible to make something perfect on your first try and even then, the developers can see flaws in their project and make adjustments, that’s why this game gets constant patches.

I’m not even sure what the biggest negative feedback is. The two biggest issues I’ve heard is the time it took to make the changes (which requires testing) and lack of damage which can be buffed.

At least they are trying to fix him instead of trying to make him full burst nightmare assassin and are trying to get his fighter play style to shine.

Edit: this post wasn’t meant to attack people complaining about the wukong rework. I wanted to know why people are mad about the wukong rework.

The reason why people are unhappy is because they revealed he was getting changes months ago. People really liked what he had going. A heal on Q to help his sustain, mixed damage to make him hard to itemize against, a solid passive that made him tankier at all phases of the game, and a really cool new mechanic on his E that let him block skillshots with it.

Then they made people wait. For months. For "visuals", they said. No word on anything going on internally, so people were just left wondering what's taking so long. Other champions get mini-reworks in the meantime, like Aurelion Sol, Kayle, Diana, Shaco, Garen, Sylas. No word on Wukong.

Finally, they release it, and it's not what they showed us before. They basically gave him a shield on his passive, a dash on W, and moved numbers around on the base kit. The old changes really pushed jungle and bruiser Wukong, while the new version is just Wukong with new numbers that will inevitably get dumpstered if Wukong gets too strong. They don't fix his problems, they just rearrange his problems.

That, and the Rioter talking about it was arrogant on Twitter, citing the hundreds of collective years the "professionals" at Riot have, even though this wouldn't be the first time they've made bad calls about balance, and it won't be the last.

So no, I'm not just gonna be happy with whatever the devs throw at us. They are deserving of criticism.

Iirc it's because a red told a high elo Wu main that they were dismissing their opinion on balance because Rito knows better when said main brought up that Wukong needs more damage.

Because Riot give us a much better version like a lot better and they fucking scraped it after MONTHS of us waiting for it while they said because of preseason they can't make the changes. Which made sense for a rework that needed a good amount of new assets BUT THE ONE WE GOT DIDN'T DOESN'T NEED THAT SO THE WAIT WAS FOR FUCKING NOTHING WHILE GIVE US A WORST VERSION OF IT.

Like the rework isn't bad and if riot gave us this one first I would be 100% happy BUT it didn't happen like that.

No, because he needed a decently heavy one. He needed one on the level of Kayle, not one on the level of Garen.

The champion consist of really divided player base, some believe he should be bruiser, some assassin, some tank respectively with laning as top mid and jungle.

Combining this with the fact that most of the voices you hear being those who don't play Wukong, you have a division on which version of Wukong was better.

The only thing you can be sure of is that Wukong players will tell you that the Meddler's Wukong changes were the worst ones. The ones who defended it are the ones who see a change and instantly think it is good because they've never had to struggle with using Wukong against actual matchups.

they nerfed him when he was in a dire need of a buff.
