if you're a weak melee top you're going to die against anyone

renekton will remove you from the entire game and there is nothing you can do about that

darius however, if he hooks you then AA+W you can walk toward him and dodge the Q, generally darius won't expect you to run toward him and he won't back enough distance to hit you with the blade

darius also unlike renekton loses to any mobile melee, or goes even against them depending on who

This is a better answer than people apparantly think based on the votes. If you want to play a champion with a very weak laningphase you have to pick him only in acceptable matchups because you will get abused otherwise. If you want to firstpick such a weak champion - well, you will get crushed. Even without Darius there still is Pantheon, Jayce, Quinn, Renekton and all can fuck weak melee champions up without any trouble.

toplane is full of lane bully right now, darius is the fairest one among them as he loses to other lane bullies due to his Q being countered by mobility

among all the one listed, i can't see what you can do like with let's say Nasus you can dodge kled Q, until he learns that he can cast it while dashing

the difference here is that against all the other champions you listed you just get some armor and you are fine which doesn't work with darius at all.

of course darius isn't op but ya know i hate him as much as all the other aids top laners.

Dodge his q, or get inbetween his blades when he is casting it, that denies majority of its damage the bleed stack and the heal

Alright, but what happens when he EWs you and you are moving to slow to dodge his Q? How can you dodge his Q when he has boots and a phage? He will be much faster and much better at positioning than you are. Even if you can dodge his Q by moving closer he gets at least another auto or two on you and more passive damage.

lets say u r jax , he grabs u .. u auto then W asap ... he will swing his auto u pop E start smashing , stun then either keep smashing and leap at him when he swings his Q or just jump to a minion back , it will be harder for u to learn how to deal with darius if u kept reading about him.. u have to practice playing against him.

give me achampion , if u r playing poppy as i saw in your matchhistory u can win vs him if u take the short trades try to find an opening into a wall WHEN your passive is up .. stun him Q auto then back off before he grabs u , darius will always win the long trades vs tanks .. altho there is quite alot of champions who beats him so hard

matchups bro its a hella annoying thing , i have kept getting countered 24/7 its just how u deal with it makes u a better player.. as d3 , ex d1 just dropped .. if u r firstpick pick something that will scale and beats everyone aka its jax for me , i get a countered matchup and just try my best to keep up in cs and survive , then splitpush to hell.

Why would you pick a weak early champion if you know someone can just pick a lane bully? Game isn't balanced around blind pick because that doesn't mean shit. Farm under tower, stay out of E range, miss CS over dying, outscale and shit on Darius who falls off a cliff lategame.

some champion types are meant to counter others. that's the essence of the game.

like already being said, you need to be able to dodge his Q and not stay too long in range of him so he gets stacks on you.

when you have a champion who can't do that, you are simply counterpicked and need to play safe at the cost of giving up CS.

i think weak melee top is naut or something of that sort , naut can work vs renekton and pantheon really well as he can sustain through their poke and be way more useful later on , but against darius its really hard to play as naut as he can kill u so easily and got the potential of 1v2 if darius is a little ahead in terms of hp/mana and level early on , its just darius is meant to eat those lame tank players and struggles so hard against those duelers and skirmishers aka Jax Fiora Kled Jayce Olaf Renekton Trundle

There is no straight up lane counter other than picking a ranged champion. Outside of lane, you counter him the same way you do any immobile bruiser that isn't Olaf. I would suggest playing someone with lot of utility.

Basically all-in him if you can burst and hug him (and outsustain him) early, and then gang up with allies once he gets tanky. Its the only counterplay to him.

adcs are the biggest counter to darius tbh , altho maybe in gold/silver they cant kite but when u go higher in rank darius is none existence due to adc having good kiting mechanics + a peeling support.

Take short trades with him, back off when he has 3-4 stacks on you. Force him to use his E to start fights with you that way he can't pull you back in when you are leaving a trade. If you have hard CC wait for him to get 5 stacks before you use it so he can't dunk you. Keep fighting if he misses his Q, he just missed out on a lot of damage, healing, and a bleed stack. If he is troublesome in lane bide your time until teamfights where he can be easier to manage.

He is low cooldown caster and or mana dependable... make sure to make him miss then punish him as fast as possible in a very short time.

Don't have extended trades with him. Even if the jungler gets in, if he's 5-stacking you and ulting for the kill, the jungler's likely next if Darius has a decent amount of health or outplaying.

i play vs darius alot and alot of times im having to 1st pick top lane blind not knowing what i will face...

i play Maokai in about 80% of my games top lane... and i win vs darius... ( wait no way... darius crushes the tree blah blah blah ) no i do win... just as of last night i got countered picked hard when i had to blind pick top lane 1st ... and the enemy went kennen i was down 30cs in lane and one kill... but i didnt feed... i showed patience and made sure i did my best not to die to him 1 vs 1... get as much cs as i could and win the game else were. won that game too.. however the kennen player did make it hell.

so maybe you need to stop trying to fight darius and beat darius in lane... and just play the game ...

I can't tell you how to beat him with a champion he counters, but I can tell you to just pick an even meaner lane bully. Cho'gath, Pantheon, actually anyone who can poke harder than him with beat him.
