Minions need to be stronger if you want to solve melee/range laning problems

The problems;

  • Minion aggro leash is awful and barely works
  • Minions are too slow when aggro'd by a ranged champion.

What makes ranged champions oppress melees so much particular in bot and top is the fact that one cannot aggro on the other without drawing creep damage, while the other has no such worry. Minion damage is going up in preseason, I think, so that's one thing.

How to solve it

  • Make minions aggro when you click an enemy champion and not after the attack has connected.
  • Make minions faster and adjust their spawn time/frequency. OR Haste them when aggro'd from a distance.

With a handful of simple changes to make ranged champions actually have to consider creep aggro, you can easily fix the years-lasting discrepancy between ranged and melee laners that has kept melee carries from existing in bot lane in a healthy way.

Sounds like melee champs get the worse of this. as it's easier for the range to disengage, the melee doesn't get that luxury as much.

this is a buff for melees.

melee don't need to click an enemy champion to auto attack until they're in melee range. melees won't have to deal with hasted minions because they're not ranged

in addition the former change allows melees to change creep aggro while abusing max leash range/bushes to make the wave push in ways they want to. it works like this in DOTA; it also benefits certain melee champions both in that game and in here. A change like this would probably make lane Rammus viable, for instance.

I say they because say like, jayce (one of the more common ranged toplaners)

When someone would go in on him, they have to run all the way through his minion wave to get to him should he ever choose to like freeze or something, at that point jayce can start fighting without worry and can go hammer form then E for disengage cause the minions to stay on the enemy, while he sits back and goes back into gun form.

It makes sense sure, if the range is being extra agressive, sounds like a punishment if the melee wants to be agressive on the range matchup. outside of the "haste" buff the minions would have.

But now that raises another question, how would you haste buff worse on champions like... akali who rushes gunblade? does the active proc haste? or no since she's a melee champ but the active was range?

1 more question being how would the minions function on a ranged player whose efficient at dodging in and out of bushes? would something change or is bush dipping still an abusable trait for the ranged?

How did you get this conclusion?

In league, minion aggro lasts for 4 seconds until you get out of range If minions move faster melees wouldn't care because they never aggro ranged champions until at least lvl 3 or 4, and when they do the ranged champion disengages and abuses their downtime

in both situations ranged champions end up being more nerfed than the melee champions

Another solution would be have defensive items deal damage to minions a bit like how doran shield works. this could last until you're level 11 or something. that way you won't struggle as much to cs while trying to survive the lane.

item 3068 takes a while to complete and is meh both defensively and for clearing in the early game.

Or buff thornmail so it's actually comparable to the sunfire cape.
