Something is seriously wrong with honor... (I'm honor 5, it's not that)

I'm an honor 5 - I'm not complaining about how the system works or identifies "honorable" players. It seems okay from that end - at least for me.

I mean, with how players choose who to honor.

I've pretty much always assumed that honor just went to whoever did the best in the game and/or made the game enjoyable for you. It's not exactly "honorable", but when in doubt who are you going to honor other than the guy that carried? And NO, this post isn't to whine that I hard carried a game and didn't get honored. Carry does not equal honor, just in same cases it gets you honor.

My problem is that, in the odd game where your whole team is at each others throats and tilting each other - and you play well, call all the shots, get your feeding bot lane back into the right mindset and congratulate them for good plays, and bring a team that wanted to FF and was saying the game was unwinnable and bot/supp are raging at eachother and top/jg are both saying our bot is garbage and you're the person on the team saying it's fine, their jungler is garbage making a lot of mistakes and our bot lane just had some bad luck early but they actually know how to play and then shortly thereafter the ADC gets a solo kill on their top laner followed by their jungler and stuff starts going right...

Then at the end of the game: no honor.

I did the most damage to champions on the team. Had a reasonable KDA despite being the key target all game. I made the call to get our first inhib, call to get Baron, call to push the side lane when we had mid inhib (because for some reason everyone wanted to go mid) and got us a second inhib. I solo double-killed their ADC and Support for shutdowns on both of them when they had been super-fed from bot lane. Then on top of all that - I was the only person on the team that wasn't bitching at bot lane, but was instead actively encouraging them and helping them get into the game and congratulating them for good plays which seemed to make them start actually playing good.

Like, seriously?

I've played countless games where I get 3 or all 4 honor. Games where I say nothing all game except "ggwp" at the end. And it's always a surprise.

The games where I expect to see all 4 honors? I get 0. It's even more of a surprise. Like really? Not even 1?

Honestly, I know how it works. People get annoyed at a positive attitude. EVEN if it plays a huge part in winning the game for them and un-tilting teammates. They get annoyed, and don't honor you. Not even the Draven honored me despite all 3 of my allies berating him all game long (and me actively saying he was a good player and just had a bad start and would scale). Neither did the Veigar support despite all 3 of his allies berating him all game long (although to be fair there, I neglected to compliment his good plays as they were often in the middle of teamfights and I couldn't type... I can see how that would be taken as an insult that I'm saying his ADC will be good [so it must be his fault they fed lane]).

So at the end of the day - honor does not mean honorable. It means "not feeding and not raging". "Feeding and raging" means reports. "nothing" is actually equal to honorable it seems...

uugh, end of rant.

Yeah, I mean personally I don't honor anyone if the entire team didn't deserve it. When my entire team is tilted and angry all game, then we win one teamfight and take Nexus? For me that just doesn't erase the other 20+ minutes of negativity.

More often than not I give my honor to someone who got flamed or someone who had a bad time and managed to stay cool; not to someone who carried.

You should never expect to get all the honors or even 1 honor, you're more often to set yourself up for disappointment that way. Just play your best and don't focus on it too much. Teammates can appreciate you without honoring you, as long as you had a good time and/or won the game, that's all that matters.

That's fair, but what part of my description leads you to believe I didn't deserve it? I was positive the whole game and played well to boot... To be fair, there wasn't the notification that everyone honored someone. So perhaps none of them honored anyone. However that's a bit of the problem, isn't it? First - it's WAY more often to not see that notification on losses. But now, even when you win with a positive attitude, if you have feeders and angry people on your team you can't get honored?

Oh, and also we didn't win one teamfight and take the nexus. Top/Jg/Mid all won reasonably hard, we were never far behind. It was just top was Morde and Jg was Udyr, so both figured they'd have no way to deal with a fed Lucian/Lux bot lane (completely ignoring that I was Ahri and could 100-0 both of them with the same combo...). We probably won 2 or 3 proper teamfights, but otherwise got loads of picks all late game (as their Kayn/Irelia were clueless walking in, and Lucian/Lux kept coming after trying to clean up thinking they could 2v5 because they were fed. Only their Ziggs realized they were walking in one at a time and tried to waveclear and keep them in it).

More often than not I give my honor to someone who got flamed or someone who had a bad time and managed to stay cool; not to someone who carried.

Again, ADC and Supp were raging at each other... neither stayed cool...

It's not that I expect it during gameplay. I play the game the way I want to play it. I typed in positive stuff to our bot lane strictly because I had looked them up before the game (as I hadn't played on the rift in ages and wanted to know what to expect) and knew they weren't bad players or out-ranked (it was a normal game). So I knew they could turn it around and by showing that faith it seemed to help them (before I said anything they just basically separated from eachother and started dying repeatedly...).

It's that after the game, my thought process goes:

  • holy crap - we won. Nice comeback!
  • Man, I played really well for only my second game back on the rift
  • Hmm... who to honor? These guys were pretty annoying. Well, Top only made a couple passive-aggressive comments but otherwise was okay and definitely helped carry, guess I'll give it to him.
  • I guess it should be obvious they'll all honor me...
  • err, what?

It's not that you didn't deserve it, in my opinion someone else probably deserved it more. Like I said, personally I like to honor/compensate people who have a rough time but stay positive, calm, and collected rather than someone who went 19/0 and didn't talk all game. It all just comes down to how someone will view the situation which you'll never have a way of knowing.

Again, ADC and Supp were raging at each other... neither stayed cool...

Yeah, but like I said above, in situations where everyone is toxic, I won't honor anyone. If you were nice or just didn't flame like the others, I'd honor you in that scenario.

I know you're not expecting it during gameplay, but having a mindset like that at any point will just set you up for disappointment. Everyone honors differently, some people don't honor at all. I know it's frustrating to not feel rewarded when you earned it but it's honestly not that big a deal. Just let it slide and try to keep your head up.

I'm a support main, so trust me, I know what the frustration is like. I spend all game peeling, warding, and saving people's lives with clutch heals, CC, or exhausts, only to get 0 honors or 0 thanks throughout the game because what I do isn't always flashy. At the end of the day, I won the game or tried my hardest and that's all that should matter, don't let little things like that get to you.

Meh, i'm recently forced to play solo but it's really common to see premades in my team. They give honors to themselves usually.

I always honor anyone who struggled. That's why sometimes if you completely feed your lane unintentionally, at the end of the game you get a few GGs.
