Worried about getting banned for good mechanics now. What is the difference between MechanicExploits

Seriously. I saw a post about a ban for someone using a Sion Ult mechanic. What is the line here? What does Riot consider an Exploit or Mechanic?

Is singed sky attack an exploit? What about Ahri Charm/Flash? What about animation canceling on Kat Q? What about Naut animation canceling on his E?

What exactly is considered an exploit? What is allowed and not? This line is so fine I'm worried now for I've been playing a very long time and use A LOT of these things.

Edit - Seems like that guy was possibly using a script so I might not have to worry but I'm still worried about this fine line.

I'm pretty sure there's a difference between mashing an unrelated key to completely break an ult's targeting mechanics and flashing while casting a skillshot

I think riot has been typically ok with animation cancelling

idk, the whole button smashing to stop his ult doesn't feel like a mechanic :l

A mechanic is just something that can be done to boost the abilities of the champion through an exploit. A mechanic in general is an exploit.

Animation canceling on Naut E gives that player a shear advantage. It's technically an exploit but among all games exploits are deemed mechanics or removed as a bug by the creators.

The only real exploits I would think be bannable are things like abusing a really nasty bug(Aatrox heal every 2nd AA instead of 3 for example).

But if it's done by simplicity the creators shouldn't be banning their playings but merely slapping them on the wrist if they think it's bad. So where is this fine line where if an exploit is deemed a mechanic or bad exploit?

Why? If it's in the game, it's game. Otherwise the developers should not have implemented it.

They disqualified a team that used it in a tournament a while back. This is why I'm asking about this shady line.

Which is retarded, just like Guild Wars banning people for buying items because they set the price wrong.

They didn't "disqualify" anybody, they just made them replay the game without the bug.

Considering the button being smashed, "h," is the 'hold' command it is definitely a mechanic.

I agree. They shouldn't ban people for mechanics that are in the game. I see no reason why they should do so.

I don't disagree that it's an exploit, necessarily, but banning people's accounts with no warning shouldn't be used when they are only exploring the tools available for them. If you don't want people using a hold button, don't have it.

I saw that post too. In the support tickets he posted, one of Riots staff accused the player of using scripts. Scripts are like third-party programs, and mess with the software of the game. I saw 2 other players in that post that argued that they were not able to recreate the 'exploit' that you are referring to. Have you tried doing it yourself in a custom game?

To me, an exploit is something where it seems like it shouldn't be allowed but is anyways. Like consider Shyvana's e. You can use it right when dragon form ends and it doesn't go on cooldown, then use it right away again. That's an exploit since it's taking advantage of a bug in the game.

A good mechanic would be more like using Shyvana's q right after an auto-attack so that you can do 3 auto-attacks as quickly as possible. And it's not an exploit since she's supposed to be able to do that and presumably every good player should know about it. And if you don't, than that's your fault.

I it gives you a huge advantage and isn't meant to be in the game, you probably shouldn't use it. Things such as animation canceling and awesome move combos are usually intentional.

Also, what's this singed "sky attack" you speak of?

I believe you can cancel his e animation and auto them whilst they are still in the air.

With how old singed is, I think it's safe to assume this is either intentional, or not enough of a problem for anyone, including Riot, to care.

Generally speaking, Riot has only banned players for exploits of things that are OBVIOUSLY broken and not intended.

For example, there was a bug last year where selling/rebuying "stacking" items like SOTO caused you to gain stacks. This was not something you could accidentally do by mashing buttons in the heat of combat.

Ward hopping is totally an exploit. Ban those filthy ward hoppers!
