Because I knew if I surrendered now I had extremely good odds of getting an S, but if the game continued I'd probably take the brunt of every teamfight and ruin my kda while everyone else would catch up to me in farm.
It worked, I got my hextech chest.

Quepha1 votes3 other people on my team wanted to surrender. Riot chose to make a system that encourages this kind of behavior so when I want chest drops I will exploit it.
I still have some more drops to get so I'm also going to continue picking champions I hardly ever play and focus completely on maximizing my own score until I get those drops, then I can finally go back to actually playing the game how I want to (choosing champions I think will maximizing chances of winning, making decisions based on what I think will maximize chances of winning, refusing to surrender when I think we have decent odds of winning, etc.).

Quepha1 votesAnd if I was participating in team fights and soaking damage for my team, I would not be farming so my score would drop relative to all the other Urgots.

Ive played top laners and only got 80 CS in 30 minutes and still gotten S ranks.
It actually takes into account time spent team fighting and damage soaked in addition to many other things.
