Do people value farm in lanes so much?

I've seen people my fast few games extend themselves so far out without vision just to grab farm instead of staying safe while I'm taking the time to learn jungle a bit better since I find it a really good role to learn more map awareness on

so it got me wondering if people really value 3-4 minions over staying safe especially in a situation where are everywhere, diver namely, are everywhere in the jungle currently. it just doesn't seem worth it.

now this doesn't apply if you ward, but a lot of the divers mentioned have creative ways to gank you creating opportunities where your wards wont always help, and can even tower dive with relative ease

Maybe I prefer to just stay super safe.
