If you are a lot higher ELO than your opponent, don't be an asshole

If you are platnium, diamond, etc... and somehow are matched against and then crush an unranked, fresh to league, player (or someone significantly lower ELO than your's), do not be an asshole about how easy it was for you to beat them. No one is impressed with you or your performance. You had basically a free lane and likely a free win. You don't have to boast in all chat who the better X (lane/role) is, because it obviously was you. You are high ELO, they may have never played against your champion before, or just haven't gotten the hang of everything quite yet. Point is, no one really cares how good you are and you carrying on about it just makes you look like an asshole.

If you feel the need to talk to your opponent, maybe give them some advice (productive/helpful advice, not "uninstall" or "get good").

This goes for a player on YOUR team as well. Saying something along the lines of "Urgh, this is why you're still in silver" when an ally misses a skillshot might be one of the douchiest things ever.

had an absolutely atrociously vile player once in a practice match against bots... I managed to go 14/3 as lux (when all 3 deaths were purposeful on the part of that teammate and his premades....)

the guy screamed at me because I "ruined" his pentakill when he got like 5 of them that game, purposefully delayed the match, stole kills from me throughout the entire game and said that lux was only a support and "git good" when I was forced into top lane against 2 opponents who could just bull-rush lux so I could do nothing but farm under tower... (literally, I think it was a darius and alistar bot top...) if I got anywhere near them at all, I would die

that was literally my first game in months using lux(I play champions in normals based upon their play style and how much I enjoy them...) using lux and he's a talon main calling me names because he didn't get his way...

the guy even started the game using the abuse the AI tactic and having a free 400 gold for first blood before the minions even arrived...

Take solace in knowing that you are probably outright better than this dude, who takes bot games that seriously.

3TWarrior2 votes

yeah, I mean seriously, the match didn't even end until his teammates got bored after he had run his score to 61/2 because the bots couldn't even move without being instakilled or when he just felt like doing whatever, he'd leave and let the bots just rush me while I was pushing towers trying to end that game(a bot game that lasted almost an hour long...). Lux can stop 2 but not 5 when ranged crowd control comes into play

Oelyk1 votes

You died to bots.

I pity you.

3TWarrior3 votes

playing a champion I have almost no experience on in intermediate to mimic potential gameplay experience (as low level bots basically just stand still...) in a lane that she is not designed for without assistance and a jerk that steals kills...yeah, hard to get any gold when the computers are advancing your tower because you can't damage them early game without going out of mana

first time I would have gotten any kills just by their sheer stat checking was about level 7, i had them at 10% running back to base and what happens, the guy comes from nowhere and steals them just before my ult connects because he's so good at "roaming"

it was not only a bad experience but just plain distasteful on the part of the talon and his premades

Oelyk1 votes

I don't disrespect you either, I understand this was the true definition of 1v9, however I don't really see the point in saying you died to bots, you coulda just said this guy was being an asshole, in a bots game, and his pre-mades all jumped in.

3TWarrior2 votes

well, I honestly felt like crap when they would do things like running to dragon while we were split between the base turrets or running off just before the bots showed up and crowd controlled me beneath a tower amid the minion wave or the various other "stunts" that I had to be on the lookout for

oh yeah, one particularly irksome of the three was that the guy decided to "return to base and shop" when he was full build and full health amid the fight, again letting the computers bull-rush me

he could already kill all five of them at the same time...ughh

Seriously, this! I don't quite understand the players that do this. Like, why would they want to tilt their own teammate? Why would they want to turn their own teammate against them?

Dynikus8 votes

Don't be an asshole even if they're the same elo as you. I played against this renekton back when Taliyah first came out, and he had no idea how her E worked, so he would just charge through it and suicide over and over. It was the easiest lane I've ever had, and one of my easiest wins. His team was flaming him, but I talked to him after and explained how her E works and how to play against her in the future.

Goes both ways. "LOL boosted" when the higher elo player makes mistakes or misplays (mostly on champs they never played before). Got told something like "haha youre not even carrying this!" the other day in a normal game, like... lol?

Best tip for everyone: dont look up the other players elo if youre likely to flame them for their elo. OR even better: dont flame someone for playing bad in general.

I was Gold in S5 and 6 and I lost games to bronzes. Sometimes shit happens, and sometimes you're just tilted into oblivion. Just shows that I'm human I guess.

He kept flashing the rank 7 icon, so I think he has a little experience with his champion when I beat him. lol

our Diamond 2 Syndra got hard stomped by a gold 1 Orianna and single handedly lost the game, seen alot of matches of plat/Diamond players feeding silvers and bronzes but that one took the cake since then i realized rank doesn't really mean that much

UkeNeverSeme2 votes

Might be a boostee/supp/jng main who have no idea how to lane. I once met a guy with a legit challenger border in one of my games who proceeded to feed and have really, really bad map awareness... He also had a below 30% win ratio and was i plat 4... Elo boosted much? Legit d3+ players are GOOD. never had an easy win against these guys, even that time i beat a master rammus main playing old yorick at 3-am...

Noxian Pride1 votes

Matchups mean a lot too. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but if I recall Ori is actually designed to be one of the champs that can go toe to toe with Syndra.

Eh, its more of a skill match up.

Had a midlaner who was a diamond smurf. He linked his twitch link after to see what it was about) in my gold elo game and for the minute I watched he just bitched about how bad everyone was despite him getting stomped in mid, never grouping, never helping w towers or dragons (I solo snuck 3/5, stole 1 and group helped on the 5th. Zero chat in game, zero pings and wouldn't respond to pings.

Entire game Lee & I were duelling or counter jungling so he wasnt able to gank any lane (was 0-3-0 after 20, Gold 1 player) so mid really had no excuse.

Other lanes were garbage too (lucian always front line + no damage, Teemo claimed wrong masteries and lost to nasus hard) but that's still no excuse for a Dia to be a jackass when he failed so hard

Shuyin1782 votes

Teemo vs Nasus What could ever go wrong for that Teemo I wonder. xD

ForFoxSakes2 votes

Teemo only counters the classic heavy Q farm nasus. If it's AP or lane shove quasus style then teemo cant do shit and gets smashed with E spam while not being able to poke that well

Shuyin1782 votes

The lack of understanding sarcasm is amazing.

Rook Loux1 votes

Same. People (especially plat players) get complacent and think it's an auto win, but in reality their laning coud be garbage. If you watch any videos of people talking about climbing they'll say that plat is the real elo hell because everyone thinks they are the best. I've never been their myself but i've had a few plats trickle down into my norms and their attitude is horrendous.

True but this game is competitive. If you can tilt an enemy team in a way that isn't against the rules. Like "EZ" or "LOL" in all chat... just to make them lose their shit... why not do it? It's dirty yes but it gives you an advantage in the game. It's not really the fault of the person doing it if the enemy gets tilted over it and can't control their emotions. There is a "mute all chat" option for a reason and it's actually really helpful in not really getting tilted ever in games.

Actually EZ is unsportsmanlike conduct and is reportable. And yes, it is ALWAYS the fault of the person doing it.

I once had an ARAM game, including myself, an unknown, a Bronze player, a Gold player and a Challenger player.

Around early to mid-game, the Gold started talking trash to the Bronze player, about how he was useless, did everything wrong, and behaved pretty much like the proverbial asshole described in this thread.

After a short while of continuous thrash-talking, the Challenger stepped in and pretty much picked the Gold player apart. He (politely!) pointed out all the things the Gold player did wrong, how he could improve, and the Challenger went through most of the list that the Gold player had picked on the Bronze player for, finding flaws with ALL of it.

The Gold player didn't say another word for the rest of the game.

As for myself, I wasn't really capable of playing at all through all this, as I was just sitting here, laughing and applauding the Challenger for what he did, and especially how he did it. No flaming, passive aggression or direct offending; just short, factual sentences on how things should be done. I learned quite a lot from it myself. I was also rather stunned at how the Challenger spoke at all - they usually just dominate in complete silence.

This. I'm already having a hard enough time being almost silver and going up against asshat plats that go "gg ez, I'm plat." I'm trying but there's only so much abuse I can take. Always a Draven now and I swear level 4 he's 3 shotting me even with armor.

when you are being a sweaty kid playing your level 7 leblanc against someone who's playing ad taric mid and you beat em you don't have to call em boosted if they are higher elo than you, instead just be happy you got a free lane.

If you are way lower elo than your opponent dont try to be a smart ass. also what you said aswell. be an asshole only to people the same elo as you. hehe
