I Love Mordekaiser, Secret-OP tier and Anti-Tank. Thank you Riot for 5.4

I've waited to talk about this, after testing him out since his 5.4 patch changes. Doing a lot of theorycrafting with him, I feel like he is secret-op tier. I have been doing nothing but play Mordekaiser when I play this game. Credit me with his rise in popularity in the future, everyone. I will continue to be playing the shit out of him, I am going to continue to become a better Mordekaiser every day, and I will eventually dominate.

I do not really think he is OP, I think he is in a great spot right now. I'm just very enthusiastic about the changes.

1 note: Cinderhulk is new meta right? But guess what, Mordekaiser's ult "gives you 25% of the enslaved champion's bonus health" Thank you, Cinderhulk, for all that health.

His CDs are low. His damage is high. People say "QSS ruins him", but people forget the other bonus from his ult: The massive health/shield gains he gets from it initially. If their ADC builds a QSS to prevent you from ulting him, good thing you have magic penetration because you are going to be ulting the tanks. Yes, thats right, the tanks. Since your damage scales off your targets max HP, that will be a fat ass heal.

Lets say its end game right, we are facing a badass tank rocking 4k health. A reasonable amount of AP to have is lets say... 350 AP? Not too crazy, not too bad. With magic penetration runes and whatnot, lets say that tank is reducing the damage you deal by 40.

Mordekaiser ult: INITIAL MAGIC DAMAGE: 12 / 14.5 / 17% (+ 2% per 100 AP) of target's maximum health

You are doing 24% of their health in damage instantly, minus 40% and that leaves you with 16.4%. So basically, you just insta-healed yourself for about 656 health, and another 656 over the course of 10 seconds (so 65.6 health per second)

In addition to this, his ultimate also does this... "During this time, Mordekaiser gains 25% of the enslaved champion's bonus health"

So basically, you Nasus ulted yourself by ulting their tank AND healed yourself for a fuckload AND you are regening health at an amazing rate.

This is great, because Mordekaiser only builds 1 single health item ever: Spirit Visage. Aside from that, he builds resistance+offensive items.

Core items on Mordekaiser include: item 3152 item 3157 item 3001 item 3065

Situationally I like building item 3075

All these items give you a lot of resistances, with the exception of WotA, but only one gives health. That is why I recommend running some scaling health yellows in ADDITION to health per 5 yellows. They nerfed his base health regen, and for damn good reason. They lowered the costs of his abilities drastically. Testing health regen, move speed, and flat AP quints. I'm building for a powerful laning phase. Now start with Doran's shield, or Cloth armor + 5 health pots. You can take a load of damage in addition to putting out a load. All magic pen reds, all magic resist scaling (or flat magic resist, depending on lane) blues, and you are solid, and you regenerate health like a boss.

Even with QSS guys, Mordekaiser can be very damn powerful in a fight. With how his ultimate interacts with people, this is amazing.

He puts out non-stop consistent damage and regenerates health like a monster. He counters the assassin meta because there is NO WAY IN HELL they are going to burst him down.

There are many other reasons that make him great, but that is all. Please Riot, do not change Mordekaiser. I truely believe he is in the position LeBlanc was all those years ago when she was "OP" but nobody knew. I don't mind that he is not popular, I am going to continue to play him because I love his kit and changes you made to him patch 5.4.

no morde is bad since 5.4.

riot nerfed his ap ratio on shield, and halved his hp regeneration. I have litterally NO CLUE, how people can play morde earlygame. It's litterally impossible against good champ.

They actually reduced his health regen by more than half, but they reduced the cost of his spells to make up for it. You say his shield is a nerf, and sure as far as the AP is concerned it did hurt a bit, but the movement speed on it is amazing.

Health regen runes make up for his lowered base regen, in fact they are now essential imo. Because the health costs were lowered by so much and because how low his base regen is he benefits much more from health regen runes than most any other champion in the game.

I have yet to notice the movement speed bonus on his W, especially as being stronger than the early shield and regen. My main issue is that, as a champion, Mordekaiser is a short range champion with no sticking potential, any meaningful movement speed, mobility or CC. It's mostly about having the enemy engage on you so that you can get a full cycle of spells off. It's quite strong when you can use all of your spells in a fight, but rarely happens with anything above silver level play.

You are basically saying he plays like Annie without her stun, but tanky. I can take that. I will just have to take your word for him being lackluster in ranked for now until I can further test it for myself.

It's not too far off. If you've got a descent initiator on your team, such as a Leona, then Mordekaiser can be a pretty good choice. Don't take my word for it though. Once you've tested it, try him out in Ranked. If you're descent with him, you can do well. Just make sure you know you weaknesses when you go in, and you'll be able to play around them.

Just looked it up, it raises your movespeed by 60 when running towards your ally. Slap it on the initiator and follow em it it sounds haha.

And yeah I know! I play him pre s1, s1, s2, and s3. I remember back when force of nature was still in the game and people would build mord full tank xD First game I ever played this guy on my team played as him and carried us. Immediately drew me to the champion.

Just crazy how much he has changed again now that I'm really getting into the game again.

as long as you stick to loving him in normals and not touching ranked with a ten foot pole its fine

I just feel like Mordekaiser has been being played wrong. I would personally love to see him and Trundle melting tanks on the same team together.

People see the strength of Mordekaiser in his ability to turn a 5v5 into a 6v4. In competitive play though, his ultimate is no issue because people know to buy QSS or use cleanse. I feel as though his strength lies in his insane sustain.

People use ignite with him because it has synergy with his ult... but that makes no sense in competitive play. Cleanse/QSS remove his ult and the dot on ignite. His biggest weakness is hard CC... so why not use Cleanse and Flash?

His ult should be used for only 2 reasons in competitive play: As an execute, similar to Garen's ultimate, to guarantee the ghost, or as a means of survival. If you ult their tank you will be getting a fat load of health and instant full shield.
