and supports are anti anti carries. That, I believe, is the core reason neither assassins nor supports are as appreciated as carries or other classes.

Assassins "carry" by preventing the enemy team's carry from carrying. Supports "carry" by preventing the enemy team's assassin/carry killer from preventing the carry from carrying.

Confusing stuff, I know. But my point is that the lack of appreciation towards these classes are because they are all balanced and based off of carries well, carrying. They themselves don't win games unless they are really fed.

And ADCs are the anti-towers.

So assassins are anti-anti-towers, with some of them being partially anti-tower themselves, and supports are anti-anti-anti-towers.

Preeeeeeetty much.

Though ADCs are also really great at killing tanks and pretty much anything else in the game.

If it's a Carry, use an Assassin.

If it needs locked down, use a Support.

If it dies after a combo, use a Tank.

If it isn't a Marksman, use a Marksman.

It's like Paper, Rock, Scissors, Ballistic Missle.

Certainly explains why assassin and support mains have such a rivalry.

Yep. We're sort of diametrically opposed to each other. If supports get to strong assassins get weak, if assassins get too strong then supports get weaker.

On the other side, if adcs get stronger damage output then both assassins and supports experience increase in winrates. And vice versa.

Wait how would adc's having more damage output make assassins have higher winrates?

Because it makes killing the enemy carry more valuable, allowing your carry to get fed and carry.

Assassins aren't appreciated as carries? Except assassins like Zed regularly carry games?

That's because fking zed is not just an assassin, but also a melee carry. Nobody cares enough to admit it, but really besides having abilities he also has an AD steroid, a passive on hit execute, a slow, and movility in the form of dashes, that allows him to act as a melee carry. You won't see talon or kha'zix doing the same.
