It's not a mechanic that is judged by the player but by the enemy. A skill that is reliant on the enemy is heavily unreliable.
Isolation should be a reward for catching someone making a mistake. Not a requirement to make the champion viable.
Just my opinions on Kha'zix and the reason he is so useless in a tank team fight meta.

jaymc11303 votesIt should certainly weaken him to be in a tanky meta that promotes grouped team play, it shouldn't be a surprise that an assassin is less effective in such a situation.
MohawkBird1 votesHe was less effective during the assassin meta too. He was literally on the bottom of the list of assassins, not to mention his jungle sustain was awful at the time.
J3R3MYism2 votesyeah you are right, kha is really strong at punishing people for being alone but there are other champs that basicly do that same thing but are actually usefull outside of 1v1's. personally i like rengar if you are wanting to play an assassin type jungler.

I shouldn't be "Well you can play this champ because he can do something similar but better". That is a balance issue.
Skylimetoon1 votesyea when they buffed his isolation range it rly made him harder to play, most people have to rely on other parts of his kit to be useful bt without isolation damage he can probably b killed pretty easily by cc tanks, which are the main part of the meta atm.
Partholonian1 votesHow is he at splitpushing? Low teamfight presence won't matter there, it's just dueling ability (so they have to send multiple people to stop him) and slipperiness (so when they do, they still don't kill him).
Ketchup251 votesHis towerpushing and wave clear are not that good, which makes him bad at splitpushing. His waveclear only gets good if you get hydra and/or evolve your W. And honestly evolving your W not really worth plus you are missing out on maxing your ult which is what makes him really slippery. His towerpushing is god awful as he does not have any steroids nor do you build attack speed on him. So it's not really worth splitpushing.
Mandang01 votesWell, then maybe KZ should give up something else in his kit. Currently, a long-range AOE-poking, long-range gapclosing (with resets!), tactical stealth-using champ feels like he's already very well rewarded for having to deal with isolation gating his damage.
AbsoluteSadman1 votesHave you ever played kha zix? If you dont get fed all that is worthless, and you cant get fed if the enemy is within a mile of a minion because your q is equivilent to the power of a kitty scratch when there not isolated.
