Genuine Senna criticism thread

Its no question, riot has outdone themselves again with yet another new champion release.

Unfortunately, Senna, like most new release champions, are poorly balanced and not enough playtesting. Senna wasn't even on the PBE for much long until release in the main game, so there was absolutely 0 input into the live balance.

Theres a couple things I want to talk about, namely the "extra" features that do not belong.

Lets start with the passive.

It currently has a lot of strength and not enough room for weakness. Unlike Jhin, her attack speed scales just fine, rather actually fairly quickly with the souls. Nothing is gating her raw DPS in her auto attacks.

Absolution is meant to be a 'weakness' gating damage with a long charge up and low crit damage, in return giving lots of ad and bonus range. However, when just looking at the raw data, from auto attack start to damage proc her non projectile is faster most of the time than other champion auto attacks.

On top of this, its got a random 16% current hp damage modifier that I didnt even know about tacked on, and on top of all that gives her movespeed.

So youve got this support/adc, who gains movespeed, cant miss, has a huge auto range. The amount of free damage and lane influence just by existing is pretty uncontestable.

Lets now talk about the Q.

This is a pretty normal case of forced Identity. Riot wanted her to be played as a support and an AD, but they couldnt have her be JUST a poke support so they gave her this heal for absolutely no reason. Why does shooting my gun heal my allies but damage my enemies? I dont know. Sounds like something a 4 year old would come up with.

Flavor aside, the thing has almost no cooldown and can be spammed repeatedly for free damage and heals. Its targeting range increases too just making duskblade even more annoying to deal with. Just remove the heal on it and It would just be a potent damage tool. No reason for it to heal at all.

Embrace has a bit too long of a rance and a deceptively large hitbox. You've got this jhin/caitlyn/lucian/pyke.....thing....and they get a 1175 range aoe root?

I mean granted, the roots delayed, but its just adding to all the problems right now.

I dont see much wrong with curse of the black mist, I just wish it displayed all allies in it as wraiths and not just when they leave the circle. On top of all what this character does, bamboozles shouldnt be something they are that easily capable of.

Lastly, the ult.

Why even play lux when this thing exists? In shields herself and her entire team while still competing in damage and it's global. Its a strict upgrade to another champions ability.

Global abilities exist in their strength because they are global, they usually give up something or rather for them to be good and almost always its utility to be potent kill tools. However senna instead gets a mediocre kill tool with an insane shield attached to it. Ditch the shield, increase the damage radius.

Overall, senna has far too many forced kit elements to give her 8 million different identities. She can jungle, she can mid, she can ad, she can support, and do them all relatively well. You gotta strip off some of the excess.

I think she’s one of the best balanced champions on release in a long time. She is relatively easy to pick up, yet has plenty of skill expression. As a support, she plays as a mixture of Nami and Xerath, with her range and CC being comparable to Xerath, and her Q benefiting similar positioning to Nami’s passive. She’s a little overtuned in the damage department right now, with her ADC role being at about a 54% WR, but is in a great spot as a support. I do think that she shouldn’t have the self-heal on Q though. I think that removing or reducing the self-heal on Q, reducing her AD ratio on Q, and increasing the base heal on Q would be a great direction for balancing. Overall she’s an excellently balanced champion.
