"Counterplay"

Alright, everyone is expecting every champion to have some sort of "Counterplay" nowadays. Everyone is using this magic buzzword, and yet they complain about the mobility meta. Mobility counters skillshots, Riot is turning everything in this game into a skillshot, what the fuck did you think was going to happen?

"This needs counterplay, I don't know what to do against it" - I don't know, why the hell did you pick Tryndamere top against a Teemo?

"You shouldn't be boned in champion select" - If you need to have a strong early game to succeed, why the hell did you first pick Katarina? If you get first pick, sure you get to pick your role, but you are also THE MOST LIKELY TO GET COUNTERED. Accept that fact and shut the hell up. If everyone could beat everyone in this game we'd all play hyper-carries and attempt to outplay everyone.

"but having no counterplay is not fair" - Dude, back in S1 and before we had something called, "Lane swaps" give it a try and shut the fuck up

"but I first picked Katarina and both their mid and top have hard CC" - Why did you first pick Katarina jackass? Did you expect not to fight a team full of CC?

This game is becoming a joke with all these buzzwords. Look, if you are having trouble with "counterplay", how about you try building to counter the other laner than just to get "ur damages" up. If I am mid against a Zed, I am starting cloth armor 5 health pots and building that into a item 3191 Why the fuck is everyone else screaming "ZED OP!!!!" and starting with a Doran's ring? Just stfu please and learn how to build your champions. There are also runes and masteries, if you know who your matchup is in lane, you can have a whole set of runes and masteries to counter that dude. Zed mid? Oh shit, better run the page with the flat armor runes instead of the armor/per level runes. If Zed counters you that hard that you can't do anything, try swapping with your top laner.

Counters--that is, a champion with an advantage against another champion-- are part of counter-play.

You forgot to add that to your list of responses.

While, yes, it is important to add counter-play, it doesn't mean a champion can't have advantages against others. Counter-play should include playing around your opponent's character.

Of course, it has to be possible to play around the champion in the first place.

I do agree that some champions should be at an advantage or disadvantage at the start versus their opponent, but there is a difference between a (dis/)advantage at the start (or in general) and abilities that just feel somewhat cheap to fight against.

Also I would love to see more people lane swap but no one ever wants to do it, really. 'NO I CALLED THIS LANE TRY HARDER NOOB' or some bullshit like that tends to happen.

If you name any champion in this game that is cheap to fight against, I can tell you why they were designed that way.

Annie is infamous for this. But hell, she is a squishy who has 0 mobility, she damn well better have a badass stun and hella damage otherwise she is a free kill for everyone and there would be no reason to play her in the current meta.

Leblanc? She is not OP, she is anti-meta and strong early game. She is burst damage and squishy as hell. If she was OP, how come her win-rate isn't anything special in tournaments? LeBlanc thrives on the fact that she is the best in the game on capitalizing on your mistakes, if you are not a pro chances are you will make mistakes.

I used to ask my teams in ranked to let me go against LeBlanc. I'd roll Mordekaiser and rush an abysmal scepter and have mr runes/masteries. Her damage wasn't overwhelming, and I pushed her to her turret as soon as the wave came in. Then I grab wraiths. Clear wave. Grab wolves. Clear wave. Grab wraiths. Etc... If I did manage to land a kill on her and I was ahead, I would start stealing the other jungler's wraiths and wolves. Next thing you know I'm 2 levels ahead of everyone else in the game and I lead the game by far in farm.

etc... I can go on and on,

Cheap to fight against was release Leblanc, she was so crazy Riot had to hotfix her the day they released her. OP was release Xin Zhao. OP was Twisted Fate and Pantheon's ults when they were still global. OP was Jax's old passive that was basically Vlad's on steroids but scaled off of both his AD and his AP. Yeah, build full damage and have a fatass amount of health. "Health doesn't mean anything if you have no armor and mr to back it up" K kids, let me tell you how things used to be. There was this thing called "Dodge" and Jax, in addition to getting a load of health from building full damage, he also had a high as hell dodge rate, especially when combined with old Phantom Dancer (Which gave dodge chance) Dodge could evade turret shots, the nexus laser, all auto-attacks, etc... That was OP.
