It this how viktor was intended to be played?

Something seems off to me... A supposed control mage just stacking mana/tank and having a permanent 500 shield every 2s just face tanking everything?

Seems REALLY off to me, i really hope this gets nerfed before it becomes a popular thing (and it will very soon).

can we have 1 season top without chucklefuck ranged/mage players migrating into our lane and ruining it

Sure, why not?

I've seen Viktors this fed literally one-shot some pretty sturdy enemies with a single E Q auto.

Why is this so much more "broken"

Because he can tank tower shots while stacking armor?

Because he is able to out 1v1 a Diana that is 2 levels lower than him?

Because he can 3v1 a decently farmed Jhin that is still a level down and is dealing physical / true damage, (Again, he is stacking armor and his shield and Archangle's grant him effective health, and even still he chunks him pretty hard), a tank Udyr that is down 2 levels and is pretty behind in gold, and a Nami that is 4 levels down?

Then he ended up getting assistance from Sona after the Nami got too close and got blown up, which now makes this a 2v2 around the same time that he gains another level on his enemies.

Then an even further behind Jax shows up just in time to rush into a 2v1, practically gift wrapping the quadra.

Yeah, .. what's wrong with this?

Lets ignore he did all of that UNDER A TOWER.

A ranged, "squishy" mage building mana tank and still doing that damage, a "squishy" mage literally face tanking multiple ppl under a tower.

Sounds fair.

You telling me. Being able to do 300+ damage with one auto while taking barely any damage because of one upgrade in the early game apparently doesn't speak measures to why he ended up being this way. He got buffs that rarely did much for his mid, but in the long term compiled into this abomination. Quinn had the same exact thing happen to her.

Watch it again, friendo.

He only 1v1'd Diana under the tower.

Then he destroyed the tower before the trio showed up.

And yeah, he was tanking the tower with 100 armor from Frozen Heart (the most armor from a single item in the game) 65 from Iceborn Gauntlet, 20 from Ninja Tabi, and 80.5 armor from Viktor's base stats at level 16. I also can't tell if he has any armor from Runes, but it is entirely possible that he has Conditioning as well.

Viktor has +4 armor per level. That is tied for the 4th most aggressive armor per level scaling of ANY champion in the game. Many of those that he is tied with are melee champions, and Bard, Nami, Anivia, Swain, Lux, and Annie are also ranged champions with the same armor scaling. He is tied with Swain for the 3rd most total armor on that list behind Bard and Nami.

So again, he has a shit load of armor. Towers don't mean much to him, .. but if he was fighting the trio under the tower he would have died.

Honestly, any tank that built this way and got this ahead of the enemy team could probably do this. He happens to have the effective health granted by the shielding in his kit and from Archangles to maximize his effectiveness against largely physical damage sources. Also his kit has great synergy with the mana and the bonus AP he is gaining from Archangles and Transcendence (I don't actually know that he has Transcendence, .. but if he doesn't, .. he's an idiot) .. He's still going to be able to dish out some damage.

Here's an idea, ... maybe you should try this and see if it is as easy as it looks.

That would actually be the best way to get Riot to nerf it.

If statistics show that a champion is dominating by being played in a way that Riot really doesn't intend for them to be played, they will nerf them for sure.

Too late, almost 6% pickrate in top with a 53% winrate. EDIT: Make that almost 8% pickrate. Seems like every Viktor main is migrating toplane to become aids.

Veigar can do this (build tank and cheese) as well if someone feeds massively. So can almost any champion.

The constant shielding is what pushed him over the edge, not just being tanky And having good damage.

My main point here would be that your team has no armor pen whatsoever and he benefited off of it fairly well. Not only that, but he's built full armor + cd which gives him enough pressure to out duel udyr, jax, or jhin. His only issue was Diana and when she overextended into a control mage, she insta died. It was fairly wp on his part for the build path he took and countered your late game accordingly.

BREAKING NEWS: Robot man taking revenge over the people who made him useless gets bullied because of being too effective!

No but seriously, what do you expect from Viktor ? You said yourself that he is a control mage, should a control mage be a squishy late-game scaling burst dealer like he was before? I admit, his shield scalings are quite over the top, but it makes sense since he is made to be late-scaling. This is the only thing that keeps him from instantly dying to everyone else at this period of the game. On your comments in this thread, you also declare that a tanky mage shouldn't be dealing this much damage while building tank. Here is the surprise; this damage is mediocre to the actual damage he puts up when building full ap, and it isn't that huge at all when compaired to, frankly, every single other champions who scale late like him.

So, lets recap:

He is tanky-ish, He is able to deal respectable damage, while still being lower than most late-carries, He is able to apply frequent and consequent CC, He is able to keep a safe distance against most champions, while having to put himself at risk to be more efficient.

This is literally what a control mage should do, what is wrong? The fact that he has easy match-ups? Being able to put a challenge against the meta top-laners of the moment early-on dosen't mean this champion should be nerfed, this dosen't make any sense.

Imagine if the Vik was full AP and fed, then hed just be 1 shotting them all before they can get to him. All I see here is some horrible playing by the other team that is also lower level and he is fed and has more gold and items. He also gets multiple helps from support so he wins a 1 v 1, then wins a 2v3 when he is fed. Not surprising.

If he was full ap he would kill 1 or maybe 2 and then die if he played the way he did.

Mages are supposed to be squishies, not tanks that stand still and tank everything threw at them.

If he was full AP he could have 1 shot half of them with his Q out of range. As it was he had multiple helps from his support, so he only tanked some of it, and he was fed. This is not an example of something being broken. Now if he were doing this while on level with everyone and equal gold, then maybe.

0 mr though. If Diana had waited for someone with cc, they would have had a chance.

He got hit by Sona's Redemption while Nami was still alive otherwise he would have died. He was actually losing the 3v1 until Sona helped him. As far as it being super unhealthy a fed Vlad would have done the same thing in that situation. In fact for the most part it really wasn't any less fair than if they were fighting a fed Fiora or Jax. It took 11 Qs 6 Es and an R over a 32 second fight to kill 4 people, and he wouldn't have killed anyone anyone after Diana if it weren't for Sona.

As for the actual game health of it. Meh. There isn't a nice, organic, and pleasant solution to Viktor's current problems. He had all the reliability ripped out of E and R because of Rylais, and then when riot finally tried to put some guts back in him they buffed his only reliable skill left which was Q. I can sort of guess why;

Gravity field is a bit underrated because of it's delay, but is not weak. (the range buffs were maybe ok?)

Deathray augment was turned into a waveclear tool after Rylais nerfs made it to inconsistent for use against champs (and riot doesn't like waveclear tools anymore).

Chaos Storm is to inconsistent with its ticks (some champs can't avoid them at all some have to be stupid to get hit) and can't have it's up front buffed or Vik just starts 1 shotting anyone that isn't a tank with QEAAR.

and Riot doesn't consider Viktor a priority for another small rework (I'm not stating that he should. Many other champs have had fewer chances). I assume he is somewhere on the small vGU's list which is what it'll probably take to "fix" him. So for now we have Q focused Viktor, and until Riot decides to put some reliability back into E or R it's what players will try to build around.
