Mordekaiser buffs

Mordekaiser is one of those rare AP Bruisers that has a passive that in paper, looks extremely strong but in practice it really sub par. He's one of those unique champs along with Ryze that can be tanky while dishing magic damage. However Mordekaiser's lack of mobility and utility makes him highly unfavorable. Here are my suggestions to help him catch up and be on par with the rest of the top and/or mid lane champions. These changes are few but should be impactful while still keeping his playstyle. The words in** * bold italics ***represents new additions to the abilities.

---------------Iron Man (Passive)-----------------

Mordekaiser converts 35% of the damage dealt from his abilities into a temporary absorption shield (half as effective against minions and monsters).

Maximum shield strength is 90 + (30 × Mordekaiser's level). The shield decays by 5% per second after three seconds out of combat.

Reason: It will help him sustain during lane phase and without enemy minion management being too much of a burden

-----------------------------Mace of Spades--------------------------------- RANGE: 600 COST: 25 / 32 / 39 / 46 / 53 HEALTH COOLDOWN: 8 / 7 / 6 / 5 / 4

ACTIVE: Mordekaiser enhances his next attack, converting it to deal magic damage and replacing the base attack damage component with a base amount of damage. He swings his mace with such force that it echoes out and slows, striking up to 3 additional nearby targets*** and slowing them for 30% for 1.5 seconds.***

If the target is alone, the ability deals 65% more damage and doubles the slow. At max skill, it instead stuns the target for 1 second

Reason: It gives Mordekaiser utlility that he was lacking. Whether it be from disengaging or chasing.

----------------------------------------------------Creeping Death--------------------------------- RANGE: 750 COST: 26 / 32 / 38 / 44 / 50 HEALTH COOLDOWN: 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 / 12

ACTIVE: Mordekaiser creates a protective cloud of metal shards to surround an ally unit or himself for 6 seconds, increasing the target's armor and magic resistance and dealing magic damage each second to enemies within 250-range.*** If cast on an ally champion, they gain health equal to 35% of damage Creeping Death deals however you wont gain armor***

MAGIC DAMAGE PER SECOND: 24 / 38 / 52 / 66 / 80 (+ 20% AP) ARMOR & MAGIC RESIST: 15 / 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 (from 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30)

Reason: This would give him a lot more utility that he is lacking compared to todays champions and provides a risk and reward factor of choosing whether to shield yourself or shield the ally. Not only that but his current Creeping Death is extremely awful and essentially useless in majority of cases. This would put a lot more viability.

What do you guys think of this? Yay? Nay? Suggestions? Please leave a comment and lets have a discussion. Riot wants more diversity? Well here's an example on what they could do.

The Iron man changes are a terrible idea. He does NOT need a stronger passive in the lane phase, that would take him from dominant to Yorick level OP in lane. If it needs a change it needs to scale better and gain more of a percentage. 30>35>40>45 kind of thing, maybe a higher max.

The Q changes wouldn't help much. It would only help him stick once he is in range, he needs help getting in range in the first place.

E changes just make no sense. Doesn't really fit with his theme.

All of what you suggest are buffs with no nerfs to compensate, he would become too strong.

What? Yorick is not OP in the slightest and Iron Man even decays during combat that superior sustained or burst champions makes it almost negligible but also makes minion management extremely difficult more so than necessary when you want to make a successful trade.

The Q changes wouldn't help much. It would only help him stick once he is in range, he needs help getting in range in the first place.

The Q would be able to do that and able to more safely disengage.

E changes just make no sense. Doesn't really fit with his theme.

You mean his W? He already is able to shield his targets but its almost useless to do so.

The nerfs? He has almost have no mobility to begin with. He is highly prone to be ganked, any disposition screws him over greatly, and ect. He's better suited as a peeler.

I didn't say Yorick was OP I said his lane phase is OP. Which it is. Morde is already a very oppressive laner, which is the tradeoff to his gank-prone-ness.

And yes, his W. Been a long time since I played him, got his stuff a little mixed up. I'm fine with the numbers increase but the heal for others is way more of a support thing.

How would the Q changes not help much? A slow would make him incredibly powerful in a duel, it would make him a viable AP Bruiser Top lane.

The W changes ill agree a heal is not what he needs.

Mordekaiser is need of some sort of buff right now but he needs a rework more.

Yay Morde buff post! I thought i was one of the few people who wanted to buff him. The main problem with Morde is his lack of counter-play in his E where all his damage is. This makes it so when Morde is strong, he is too strong but when he is weak, he is too weak. So honestly an entire rework is needed more then just a buff, because giving him Utility might push him back into "Morde is miserable to play against".

But i do agree until he gets a rework some small changes to help him are needed.

The passive buff is a great idea, the shield isnt very strong currently so it doesnt need to decay as fast as it does. Yasuo has a similar shield and his does activate until he takes damage. It would also be cool if when his shield is at max the next ability has a bonus effect, of course there would be a cooldown on it so you couldnt just take damage fill it back up get the effect and repeat.

The Q buff is good specially the buffs when the target is alone but i dont think he needs a stun, that might be overkill. Also it would be nice if you could use Q against turrets and inhibs.

The W buff i think is a bit too much, i like the W the way it is now but it definitely needs to give just a bit more resistances. If they were going to add anything to it i would rather it be a movement speed steroid then healing.

His ultimate definitely needs a buff, im tired of champions with less then 200 hp surviving it even when ignited. Giving it more damage is not the way to go, but maybe dealing more damage the lower life they have. Also bonus damage to enemies effected by his ult would help him stay relevant late game.

In my opinion, I have no issues with his current ult. I would say his ult is more suited for team fights more so than dueling.

Then how does a temporary shield sound like how Janna's shield work? I think giving W a movement speed buff would be too much honestly.

I really hate that saying as we got quite of bit of top laners that are miserable to play against such as J4, Lissandra, Lulu, Gnar, and more. All of whom have hell of a lot more utility and mobility.

I also hate the balance theory of "If something is strong, we must nerf it." Why not reverse it? If there's a champ that is dominating a role, instead of nerfing it, why not buff the ones that are in the low tier? If everything keeps getting nerfed, then champions that has superior utility will always be favored and picked over the champions that dont like Mordekaiser because he doesnt have any compensation for his lack of utility and/or mobility.

A shield is def way too much, like the healing mechanic you came up with it is too Supportish and id rather he not be nerfed into a support role. Like i said i like his W just the way it is, a mov speed steroid would be nice on it but it is not needed.

Yea they are and Morde is already not very fun to play against, the reason he was nerfed into uselessness is because he is so oppressive in lane. Thats why i think a rework that doesnt make him miserable to lane against while at the same time keeping his identity is much needed, more so then just a simple buff.

Agreed that they should buff weaker champions instead of nerfing powerful ones, why? Because if you wont nerf Lee Sin or Zed then you just need to buff everyone they are demolishing. Mordekaiser use to be loaded with high AoE damage as compensation for his lack of mobility and CC, but he was too strong against other non-mobiles and they nerfed him. Now with Mobility being dominant and more and more champions are being released with it he is even more useless. Plus most mobile champs have high burst as well so he seems like he was left out, his damage is only average right now and its all lumped into his E.

I can understand adding an extra mechanic to his W might be too much but as regards to the added defensive stat, I thought it would compensate for the health cost and as seeing it does hardly any damage in the first place. 480 magic damage with 1.2ap ratio might look a lot but when factoring in its small radius and that you would have to stick to them for 6 seconds you're realistically only going to deal half that amount. Seeing as my suggested Q buff would make that easier to achieve I can see more clearly why the W mechanic would be too much.

I thought it was because of the items back then like Will of the Ancients was stackable? I dont remember much about people when talking about back then complaining about Mord when Vlad was around.

Keeps mordekaiser working the way he does, I like it.

Bumping for edits made on his passive. Increased his decay rate by 5% per second from 3% per second.

I like these changes overall. On a side note, I heard they were going to make Mordekaiser be a lot more tanky with coming changes, but deal more sustained damage rather than his current burst.
