League has become BAD FOR YOU.

League is a joke now, Riot has designed the game to be appealing to the people that watch pro players and not your average gamer just trying to have fun. Over the past couple seasons it's turned into a game where you either stomp or get stomped. Game that are an even fight tend to be extremely rare and it's near impossible to come back once you start losing. It only takes one player to get fed or feed and the game is over already cause it snowballs from there. The community is a toxic wasteland, it's been bad before but the changes have only made it worse, because when just one teammate doing badly or intentionally trolling can cost you the game, of course there are going to be assholes!

The game is only fun when your winning and it's barely even fun then. The small amount of satisfaction you get is not enough to make up for the frustration. Also, the game is poison to friendships. You will find yourself being at the throat of someone who you usually get along famously with because League brings out the worst in people. THIS GAME HAS BECOME BAD FOR YOU. I don't honestly know why people still play it anymore until Riot changes it back to a much more fair, balanced state. I think it's because too many gamers are suckers for punishment and it's also a case of sunk cost fallacy even though you never have to spend a cent to play, it's easy to get get sucked into using real money to get a cool skin or a new champ because grinding out the in-game points takes forever. I'm glad I quit and I encourage others to do so as well.

LEAGUE IS NOT APPEALING TO THE PEOPLE THAT WATCH PROPLAYERS.

The proplay meta is stale, boring and implies almost always the same picks during a patch. Diversity is garbage, and games are barely interesting. It was so much more interesting a few years ago, when proplayers were admittedly worse and made mistakes, comebacks and used pocket picks much more often than now.

Complain all you want, but don't use arguments that are simply false.

In any case however, it's true that the community is toxic and games are hard to come back from. For toxicity, you can't say Riot hasn't put measures. They should probably bring back old tribunal but there's still reports, ban cases and autoreporting on afks. For smurfing/boosting, they have adapted the MMR algorithm to be more sensible to winstreaks and losestreaks and by this mean get them to the elo they belong in very fast and prevent them to ruin too much games. For game duration however and the feeling of "already decided very early games", they have work to do.

Some should make a post telling League that they have made a joke of LCS, it's not about players having insane skill anymore. it's all about (Formerly?) good players having the meta changed to suit them. instead of them learning the in's and out of it like it's second nature to them.

Fuck Riot for being a LCS bitch.

Implying League was balanced before. Sorry, but this game was never balanced.

because when just one teammate [...] intentionally trolling can cost you the game

This was different before how?

It only takes one player to get fed or feed and the game is over already cause it snowballs from there

What a novel complaint. "My teammates always feed and lose me the game."

Over the past couple seasons it's turned into a game where you either stomp or get stomped.

Surrender@20 is probably one of the oldest sayings in the game, bud.

I respect your opinion, but this is the opposite of my experience.

Over the last 5 years, the game has become more balanced, easier to make comebacks, and generally more fun for me. The champion design has improved in nearly every aspect with regards to VGUs and GUs, and even the failures that have happened during that time (class updates, in particular) have been recognized by Riot.

I don't see as many toxic people in my games. There still are some, but not nearly as many. When I play with my friends, I'm just as chill as when I don't; sometimes I make fun of them for a stupid play here and there, and vice versa, but it's all in good fun. I play for fun, but I like winning, and I've climbed to a peak of plat 2 this season (about to get back there, with any luck).

I don't follow pros anymore; I just don't have time to do that and I find the pro scene to be only vaguely interesting, to be honest. I'm glad it's there and I think it's neat, but it's not a major component of how I experience League of Legends anymore. I just don't have time to play the game and watch the game and be fully invested in both, and I'm fine with that.

I use League to help me relax and have some fun. Sometimes, if it's a bad patch for me or I'm on a losing streak, it can be a bit of a downer. When that happens, I just set it aside for a weekend or two and play something else. I've never stayed away for more than a couple weeks, though, because the core game is incredibly compelling for me.

When they announce changes, I'm always able to see the intent and see how it could improve the game in the long run, even if it's tough in the short term. Riot has great vision. This is a great game for core gamers. I am their core demographic, and it's working. I'm invested. I spend money not because I feel pressured or hoodwinked, but because I want this game to continue to be supported. I am paying for product willingly, much like people who pirate music and like it so much that they buy the album (except it's totally legal to play League for free! Forever!)

When someone posts that they don't like the game, it doesn't bother me. Neither do 99% of the people that I interact with irl. Even some of them that are gamers. This game isn't for everyone. It never was and it never will be, and that's good. I want a product for core gamers, and Riot delivered. And they continue to deliver to those of us that don't get caught up in the tiny details. They continue to deliver for those of us that see how atypical this game's success is. They continue to deliver for those of us that recognize the amount of work and passion that goes into this game, and the amount of work and passion that is required to maintain it at a high level of quality. That may not be true forever, and I won't be ashamed to walk away when that day comes, but for now, I just don't see it.

if you don't enjoy playing then stop playing.

league is the same as its ever been. as someone who has played for years and years now I can say that confidently. the only real difference is its more of a team game now and you can't just 1 v 9 solo carry anymore unless you are WAY better. and even then you still gotta spread your lead around.

you may not have fun anymore, but clearly a lot of people do or they wouldn't keep playing it. I love league of legends. the game is great. its constantly being spiced up and has new and exciting things to try out. they constantly patch, constantly communicate with their playerbase and are updating outdated shit as well. this game is better than any game I have ever played.

just get the fuck out if you don't like it. there are countless other ways to spend your time.

deadlychuck8/18/2017, 1:53:47 AM3 votes

Just want to point out that sunk cost also applies to time invested.

I've spent about $50 on the game, but still find it hard to just ignore the few thousand hours i've put into the game.

Escheton8/18/2017, 8:55:13 AM3 votes

The game is only fun when you are winning? I disagree. But I am more a macro player, so compensating for being behind is challenging for me. And I prefer good plays and follow up objectives over simple curbstomps. And you can have those even if you end up losing.

Souji8/18/2017, 6:26:13 PM3 votes

I haven't watched LCS since 2014. It became SO boring. Last thing I remember was the lane swap tactic with two top

Miror B8/18/2017, 10:22:37 PM3 votes

Also a fun fact: it's technically becoming less popular now, as a recent study suggests that PUBG actually has about 20% more people watching their streams compared to league, with cs:go catching up.

Haha you were not around for Season 1 and 2 huh?

Feed an AP Yi/Kat/Jax/Mordekaiser and there's no coming back ;)

The chance that someone on your team feeds is the same as the enemy having someone feed

No, you are just bad at the game

Colgate Gator8/18/2017, 8:33:35 PM2 votes

So you quit the game, but still come to complain about in the forum.

Mhm, seems you're already over it.

Pandemic Punch3/22/2018, 12:36:48 PM2 votes

You just repeated criticisims that have been around since at least season 2. Oh well. Keep crying, I enjoy the entertainment. Carry on

84mankie8/18/2017, 3:12:09 PM1 votes

I actually have plenty of fun, but thx for trying to tell me what's good & bad for me. You strolling around on the forum of the thing that's 'bad for you' is just your sacrifice to rescue the others, right? Honestly, it looks like you do like it and you like it so much that you need to think and talk about it all the time so you rant on the forum. Nice try!

SolarisCorvus8/18/2017, 10:47:01 AM1 votes

I just play the game cause the champs are fun. And then i take a break when I get tilted off this plane of existence.

WorryWolfy8/18/2017, 5:09:51 PM1 votes

There is nothing unfair about this game as is on any level. League can however be very intimidating to outcome dependent or beta personality types. There are an equal number of games that you almost cant lose as can't win and individual merit shines through. All players have the same game and contents therein at their disposal and get to make their own choices and condition themselves to try their best to win. If stomps are happening one way or the other people are opting into strategies and executions of strategies that can get dumped on or vice versa. This is a volatile , chaotic thing but not an unfair one. Everyone else plays within the same community. Instead of whining about the game becoming a joke, you should learn to be a more stable, consistent and less coin flippy player. Elo boosters can do it, what is your excuse?

Nea1048/19/2017, 2:17:46 PM1 votes

{quoted}

a game where you either stomp or get stomped.

That. And Riot stays silent and does NOTHING about (since still gets money, and that's the most absurd point).

Sire Hippington8/18/2017, 1:25:24 PM1 votes

Riot has designed the game to be appealing to the people that watch pro players

I wouldn't really say so. I always watched proplay, and i certainly prefered the old days of lol both for watching and for playing my self....and the same is true for all my irl firends that(used to) play lol...

ThatHaleState8/18/2017, 3:17:36 PM1 votes

The sheer amount of catch-up mechanics in the game says otherwise, especially in the jungle.
