Non meta shit won't get you banned as long as you communicate with your team
Last night I got auto-filled into ADC. For reference, ADC is my absolute worst role by far. I seldom play ranged champions so I'm god awful at kiting. I typically don't position well with ranged champions either so I often end up dying quickly or doing nothing. Long story short, I suck at ADC.
Everyone else had their preferred roles and nobody else could carry. I explained to everyone this was my worst role and it'd be an auto loss if I played it. Oddly enough, I got a lot of encouragement from everyone saying "just don't feed." So I decided i would play twitch since him and vayne are the only adcs I have any expierence playing in recent years. Then the enemy team picked fiora, talon and khan and I realized my inadequacy at the role would just leave me dead every fight because I have no idea how to play vs divers as an ADC. So I asked if it was okay if I played Jax bot. He's my most played champion over the last few years, I've had experience doing this before and quite frankly, I explained we had a much better chance of winning if I played something I was comfortable with than something I wasn't.
They were reluctant to say the least. But they agreed to it and I'm sure if we lost, they probably would've reported me. During lane phase, I had thresh vs Janna/ez and obviously we struggled since our only win condition vs this lane was to all-in and obviously ez/Janna are the antithesis of all-in. So we got poked down pretty hard but we never died and I stayed within 20 CS, which is hard to do as double melee vs double range. But everyone else did well, they ganked for us and i fucked shit up. And we won. Yeah, go ahead and dive the "ADC" - his name is Jax and he welcomes it. I W'd Kha'Zix so hard, I'm pretty sure he devolved into a roach.
Anyway, I'm not naive. I know I would've been reported if we lost. But the reality is, I truly think as long as you actually communicate with your team and tell them what's up, you'll be fine. The people I've seen who get banned for this don't communicate, they're often hostile and as a result, the way several reports. I can understand why you'd be jaded if you ma J off-meta shit in different roles but you have to take into account the feelings of others in a mode where everyone is trying to win and consider that people doing off meta shit is often a sign of trolling, not taking it seriously. You can bridge this gap and probably make the transition a lot smoother if you simply communicate. Don't be a dick. It sucks hur thems the breaks.
Tl;dr Jax bot is new meta, plat 2 is the pinnacle of skill and craft and don't be a dick: communicate with your team and often times in my experience over the years, you'll be fine.
