Why doesn't Volibear's W's attack speed decrease like Jinx?

Also It's not like it's much faster than Jinx's decrease time.

Voli's Q is an auto reset that gives him a free stack.

Also his ult is a really strong on hit effect that scales really nicely with attack speed.

Part of the reasoning with the stack decay for jinx is because the mini gun "revs down"( the barrel still spins) when you stop shooting it. This is for thematic purposes.

Also jinx's attack speed is just attack speed. Voli's attackspeed is attack speed+ enable a really big execute spell.

And while we're at it: Jax also has an auto reset (empower!). And his ultimate makes deadly assault even deadlier since he can proc 3 hits much quicker with attackspeed.

Can you explain further? I'm not understanding the comparison.

When they attacked an enemy they got a attack speed buff. They stack 3 times and they're nearly exactly same. But they have a small difference. It's how they lose their buffs. Jinx loses her stacks one by one but Volibear lose all of them from 3. stack if you don't attack.

Also I feel Volibear's losing stack time is much shorter than Jinx while she can lose her stacks one by one. I just notice it when I played Volibear in free.

Well, first, Jinx's decay per 2.5 seconds, while Volibear's stacks last 4 seconds. It "lasts" longer in that it takes much longer for Jinx to lose all of her stacks, but the decay rate is almost twice as fast.

Second, you're comparing two different archetypes of champions who have one specific similarity. You have a tanky bruiser and a squishy ADC who have a similarly-functioning AS steroid. Meanwhile, if you compare Volibear to Jax, you see they have about the same AS steroid, except Volibear's (still) has a longer duration.

Ohh, okay. I get it now. Why should Jinx get to keep her AS longer, when Voli doesn't. I think the simple answer is Voli's W also provides an execute, on a relatively short CD. His W as a whole spell has so much power to it.

Jinx's Q has a lot of power too, but it serves a different purpose. Jinx's Q is DPS, on either toggle. Voli's is DPS + "ur ded lololol".

But if anything, I feel like the melee champion should have the stronger AS steroid. But comparing two drastically different champions' kits isn't so clear cut.

could be that jinx is ranged and squishy and voli does retarded amounts of damage with melee hp.

Basically what I was gonna say, Volibear's W is ridiculously powerful [260 base damage at rank 5 (up to 520 based on target's missing health) + 15% of Volibear's bonus health (up to 30% based on target's missing health)]. The only thing keeping it (somewhat) in line is stack management.

Jinx just gets to auto-attack faster.

Don't forget that the bonus health scaling also ramps up to 30% with the execute.

He will get it off once per fight. I don't like playing against this bastard granted, but that doesn't justify why Jinx keeps her Q passive for so darn long. Nerf Jinx pls.

One is a tank based on HP, the other is an ADC based on ASP and crit.

Not to mention Voli have a very powerful bite tied having max stacks to cast it.

Never thought of this. Implement this change or riot!

Could be a QoL buff if Volibear isn't strong anymore after the next cinderhulk nerf. But atm, he's too strong to get buffs.

The same reason Jax's Passive doesn't.

Jinx is more likely to lose her stacks because switching to rockets guarantees that her Q stacks will start to fall off. If she wants to use her rockets, she has to lose some minigun stacks. Losing the stacks slower helps give her a reason to switch back to the minigun at a later point in a fight. Volibear doesn't have any action that requires him to lose his stacks, so it's more reasonable for him to lose all of his stacks at once if he can't autoattack. Volibear losing the stacks faster also works well with his bite needing all 3 stacks to cast. Rewards the enemy for forcing him to lose stacks by making it harder for him to get enough to bite someone..

I'm not saying the champions are equally balanced. I'm just saying I can see the reason for the difference in this mechanic.

Because his bite is very overpowered.
