A little insight in to what exactly went in to making the Hand of Noxus we know today. There's a reason he's a champion.

Oh damn. It is so good...

I want more, please. Make it more! Make it more often! For everyone region. PLEASE. dies

A Shurima comic in this quality, when Azir and Xerath met. I'm already wet.

Btw, about the comic (SPOILERS, I WARN YOU)

Darius and Draven are not originally born in Noxus but Basilich.

Darius had a lover in the past which was also his first. He loved her so much but as their son died (Darius and Quilletta) in a war, his lover turned her side against Noxus. She gets killed by her right hand because she is a "traitor" in comic.

As I already said, Darius had a son.

This comic takes time after Piltover Story, "Progress Day", chronologically.

We can see noxian spy we have seen in Piltover Update, Tamara, in page 4.

HEAVY BERSERK VIBES

So much expanding of the blood brothers. Mainly Darius, but we also get to see a bit of Draven being serious.

Seeing Darius just interacting with people is surprisingly fun. He definitely seems like a strict soldier, but not in a bad way. He's found his meaning and in struggles against it he can show some regret. But that regret is not over his choices, but what the choices of others force him to do.

And seeing him angry for someone else was touching. Call it cliche, but that vulnerability when his former lover was just killed made him feel more human to me.

Only problem I have is this Quill draws a lot of parallels to Riven's character imo.

This was really high quality and I enjoyed it a lot.

**Spoilers Below: **

Darius is probably one of my least favorite League characters, because he used to just feel kinda like "Garen but Noxus instead and he's an asshole", and I also have continuing traumatic flashbacks to his release week when Noxian Guillotine was NUTS.

I'd say this story changes that. It fleshes out his backstory, revealing maybe most interestingly that he's NOT natively Noxian, which puts an interesting spin on his major loyalty and position. It also, pretty importantly, shows a more human side to him. He's regretful and hesitant to hurt Quill, even after she betrays the Empire, and he looks genuinely shocked and destroyed when Invetia pulls the ol' Darius Special on her. There's a level of responsibility and guilt there, and it could lead to some doubts in the future, if his plotline gets continued.

Side character presence is also good. Draven's in top form, and it seems his reluctance to fight in the army is a thing of the past in the new Lore. Also, holy shit, Tamara's in this. That's a fantastic Progress Day callback. All the characters look fantastic too, the new Noxus art direction is really working, despite how much I miss their Skull House and Four Eyed Ghost Horses (Is that RiotWhren's work again? It's still great.). There's also a nice hint of Singed. Maybe not Singed in particular, but his MO, because Quill's got some real Riven vibes coming from her.

That ending revelation from Quill is a winner too. Welcome to the Kassadin club, Darius.

We can now confirm, with physical proof, that Draven enjoys lotion on his butt.

After reading the comic i think Riot must give Darius a new voice lines cuz the current ones 100% dont fit him.

(MASSIVE SPOILERS, READ THE COMIC FIRST) Holy crap. Guys, I think this comic has something to do with his animation, In the end, Quill mention that Decius, her son, was more than just her child "Decius was more than just my son, Darius. He was--" she also mentions earlier in the story that Decius had died in the Freljord, "He died. Fighting for Noxus in the Freljord." I think that Decius was Darius's son, (pool scene) and i think that's why Darius was in the Freljord in the animation. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGx9_wABzlA) he is visiting his sons grave after Quill tells him that he is dead and also after Quill dies (He could also be going to the Freljord to talk to General Korlak on top of that). Also, in the animation we see Darius drink something could be water, could be alcohol drowning out his sorrow after Quill's death and the recent news of his child's death. Either way, as a Darius main this really tore me up, because I've always seen Darius as a brutal man with only destruction and conquest in his wake, yet this comic and animation together show Darius as someone with very human emotions but still with an undying loyalty to Noxus. Darius has lost everything important to him except Noxus and Draven who coincidentally a fierce member of Noxus. so that may be why he continuously fights for Noxus, to honor the memory of Quill and his child, or to forget about them all together... needless to say I cried, even if my whole theory is wrong.

And here I got excited because I thought that gorgeous woman, Quill, was going to be a new champion.....aaaaaand she's dead.

The comic is not detailed enough. We need to know more about the river scene...

Totalis8/18/2017, 7:21:29 PM5 votes

easily my favorite comic we've ever gotten.

Right as I was flipping to that last page I was thinking how awesome it would be if we got a 1-armed swordswoman from noxus as a champion just to see my dream crushed into dirt.

i use to not care about draven and darius

now i care about them and i like them.

I'm slightly late to this but I think my one criticism about this comic is that it felt semi-rushed. I love the comic, don't misinterpret what I mean, but it seems like the plot itself was rushed out the door. We're introduced instantly to this new lady, told we have to care about her and shown one scene where she has sexual congress with Darius.

Maybe if this was like a 2-4 part series, it'd feel more impact, but as a one off I didn't feel all that much attachment.
