I'll tell you why Wukong is getting nerfed again and why Yasusu is getting a major Buff

Wukong Airlines··49 votes·15,619 views

Because of the Wukong mid pick vs susu couple of weeks ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X06ySPQuv-c Riot's balance team didn't like the fact that MonkeyKing started seeing proplay and winning the matchup.

So in order to balance things, Wu nerfs hit, but that's not enough, gotta hit him with more nerfs, not to forget about the runes nerfs will affect him as well, but while doing so, they're buffing their favorite flashy champs which they worked "so hard on over the years".

From their point of view, a 4-5% pick ratio on 51-52% win ratio is unhealthy, gotta nerf but for 22+% pick ratio on 49% is underperforming, gotta buff so they go above 51% w.r on that kind of pick/ban ratio.

I have a feeling Q > R > Q will be enough to 1shot any squishy for both LeeSin and Yasuo next patch

Go on, ship those buffs/nerfs, I want people to have no reason to play this champ so he can finally get his rework.

It's sad because it's true. Every time an unpopular champion which does not sell a lot of skins gets picked, they literally get instanerfed. Wukong is in many ways a neglected champion, and his mains have been asking for some skill expression in his dated kit for ages, but Riot would rather nerf him into the gutter just because someone else than his one-tricks is playing him.

What we learn from this is that Riot is a complete PIECE OF SHIT company. The balance team watches a few LCS matches and decides from there which champions are getting buffed and which are getting shafted. Be prepared for nerfs if your main champion gets picked at LCS and said champion does not fit into the balance team's misguided image of the ideal meta. They're trying so hard to balance this game around LCS yet pro play is more GARBAGE than ever. Meanwhile solo queue is borderline unplayable.

**I sincerely hope y'all have stopped buying skins and supporting Riot financially. **

You're 100% right. Oh wait, I bought all skins for Mordekaiser.. Nevermind, they don't even know who he is.

I sincerely loved the first seasons, when 1v9 and stomping were things, since 3 years you can't play alone or play whatever champion you like and wherever you want; that's just "everyone play like pro players do and I'd rather play Lucian, like Doublelift is doing, than play Tristana that isn't played by them" now.

Yo keep in mind they don't always get the final call there are people above them like Tencent and shareholders who some times order them 2 do things, and then Riot gets shafted with the fallout, sometimes the community goes after the wrong people don't let the real villains get away unpunished.

while i agree with you, wukongs kit has always been toxic everytime he is too strong. He should just be given the morello treatment and go unseen until riot has an idea what to do with him

They did the exact same thing to Kallista a while back. I think it was last year's spring split. She got picked one game in LCK (IIRC) and did decently well.

Next patch: Kallista nerfs.

But this just goes alongside what Scarra said in his video about WoW and how the damage creep got so ridiculous and there was no strategy involved anymore. And who is the man responsible for the death of WoWs PVP?

Oh look its Riot Ghostcrawler. My greatest fear is that he's going to fuck up this game like he did WoW then move on and leave the broken pieces for someone else to try and put back together.

Honestly, who do I have to shout at for them to understand that Ghostcrawler is bad for the game? Look. at. his. track. record. what. are. you. doing. riot.

SpecterVonBaren2 votes

You're trying to go to bat for the monstrosity that is Kalista?

This is when you know that the boards have turned into a mindless echo chamber. You don't actually want to look at things objectively, you just want to find any and every excuse to justify your hatred.

saltran1 votes

If he was talking about 2018 Spring Kalista I agree a bit with him: she was played sometimes on pro play but she was not on the pick/ban status, on LCK the only team I remember playing her constantly was KT Rolster for an ultra agressive playtyle and then she got a huge nerf to her aa range wich is brutal for an adc and she has not been played more.

Someone know where can I find the info about all the pick/bans based on the Splits and Regions?

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

But the reason she was immediately nerfed is because she cannot be allowed to be strong. The buffs she received at that time were relatively minor things compared to the nerfs she'd received in the past and with just those buffs she instantly became a pick in pro play again.

When a champion that they broke the legs of gets a bandaid and that suddenly makes them start walking again, there's something very wrong going on.

I was simply pointing out that this has happened before and that nobody should be surprised.

But sure, you can keep trying to put words in my mouth.

And until Ghostcrawler is completely gone from Riot, I will keep talking about him and how he's responsible for the current iteration of League of Damage.

You can disagree with me.

Riot "Bro Cult" Game has been doing this forever. I still remember listening to the casting team way back in an earlier season tourney keep saying how OP Sona was during one of the tournament matches and right after that tournament Sona gets crushed and legit never saw the light of day in pro play barring a very small amount of matches.

Hecarim starts seeing play top, guess what? He's nerfed to hell. Udyr, same story.

Do the other champs really make that much money from skins? Geeze.

Yasuo straight up is probably the no. 1 reason I quit this game. At least, the idea and the culture that allowed such an abomination to crash upon a very decent cast of champions at the time.

Gotta sell them yas and leesin skins k.

Pika Fox3 votes

Sona needs a rework. Her design is such that she will never feel good to play unless shes broken, as a lot of her power is in her auras, which are undervalued. She needs to either be a full aura champ, or lose them.

She needs a rework, I agree.

I thought it was because Yauso has an overall 47.46% wr and Wukong has an overall 53.77% wr

Source: op.gg 8/8/2018

Also I know that yasuo has the more frustrating kit, however. If I am playing top with my champion pool (because I can only speak for top) I would MUCH rather fight a yasuo than a wukong. with Kled Rumble Gangplank I can fight yasuo with those and have some hope that I can dodge and bait his wall and whatnot... wukong though, he makes me change my build path to thisitem 3047 + item 3157(if ap) or maybe item 3026 (if ad) XD

TL;DR I am not a fan of wukongs burst not even in the tanky top lane. (Even though I like him as a character) so I think the nerf was OK as long as he stays about 50%. The yasuo buff was questionable but hes at 47% wr right now so its not the worst.

Off topic, actually rushing a GA into wukong might be a great Idea because it lets him blow his whole combo so that you get a chance to fight back... I'll have to try that on kled

saltran1 votes

I dont also like the false parallelism on Wukong-Yasuo but I if you are checking Yasuo and Wukong winrate you should post aswell their pickrates because if a champ like Yasuo who is massively played and has one of the highest skill floor among all champs has a 47.6 winrate (and is played on pro play aswell) should not be buffed.

Overall pickrate on the same web you used: Yasuo 17,26% pickrate - Wukong 6,67% pickrate.

Mokuto Bunshi1 votes

And after all that Riot reverted the buff... you know, cause its public beta environment... XD

Morgenštern4 votes

Haha it reminds me of this fun parodic comment on Twitter : https://www.reddit.com/r/MordekaiserMains/comments/8d7f9f/disable_yasuo_from_the_game_untill_his_vgu/ That is a parody of the same post removed now with Mordekaiser instead of Yasuo and Bugs instead of Dashes.

Seriously, there is nothing fun at playing vs. Yasuo, unless he is Diamond+ or when you trap him when you have no minion for he to dash, when Wukong has never been a good champion (is it not his second buff/nerf ever?) and is really fun to play with and against.

riot is a fucking terrible company for balancing because they balance shit for pro league and not league of legends, and even then they blow ass at balancing in pro league

Linna Excel3 votes

IMO the biggest problem with wukong is he's got the melee assassin problem, which is the fact that melee assassins need a way to get to their targets and blow them up very quickly, and that way they get to their targets is what's unfun about playing against them. Then he builds duskblade and takes eletrocute.

Blåbæret21 votes

And Yasuo is fun to play against? He's the epitome of cancer; ten times more "unfun" than Wukong will ever be, yet he is getting buffed.

yes all stealth champions are cancer, the lack very little counterplay.

Oh you got hit by a knock up?

Here comes Yas from a screen away dealing 1000 damage.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

I know a champion has a knock up, I see said champion near me. I know they have a Yasuo on their team, and as such, any knock up can be a tool for him. I now avoid getting caught out by champions with knock ups, as one would anyways, and therefore, avoid Yasuos.

There's still a lot more I can do than Wukong which is: I know there's a Wukong in the game. I hope we have enough wards.

Wrong. Wukong's supposed to be a diver and yet if he gets fed he outclasses basically every single assassin because he has a burst that's untelegraphed and undelayed save for maybe his ultimate depending where everyone is situated when he uses it. Yasuo's core ability is pretty much a short-range skill shot that he has to cast successfully two times to unleash a bad-ass tornado which depending on the comp someone's with could be his only way to initiate his ultimate. Get fed with Wukong, dive enemy and instantly burst them down. I can't imagine a player can't afford to be that mindless as a fed Yasuo. They gotta actually land things, they have one of his lifelines being a single cast ability with a long cooldown, and his ultimate while being super lame with the right comp is also never guaranteed with the wrong comp. Having to land three skill shots to get an ultimate.

Point being, I can play around against a fed Yasuo. Wukong ? Probs not.

You're saying bullshit. Cmon, take something like a Mordekaiser, now it only depends on your skills and Wukong is really fun and unlike what you said he never gets incredibly fed to the point he kill people with just ult. Now to Yasuo, you can't land a single skill shot and he's choosing when and where to fight with his mobility.

Point being, I can play around against a fed Wukong. Yasuo ? Probs not.

Your comparisons in the parody are quite a stretch brae. I say he outclasses "basically every assassin" meanwhile you muster a single lame sauce champion that isn't even comparable because we've gone from comparing a diver that can outclass numerous assassins and can outburst most of them without delay or untelegraphed to talking about an underperforming juggernaut with virtually no comparison other than that they both have barriers.

Assassins and divers share commonalities and Wukong outclasses them at what's supposed to be their own game because he's designed in such a way where he has their benefits but virtually none of their drawbacks.

"he never kills people with his ultimate"

My argument wasn't anything along the lines of being that unreasonable.

Wukong's problem is basically the same problem as Diana. He is supposed to be a diver, but his kit doesn't support him having synergy with proper diver items, but has a lot of synergy with assassin items. If he is strong, he becomes an assassin that has no counterplay but at same time, has no escapes. So either he kills anything or he dies to anything.

Oh yeah lets completely forget what people were saying two weeks ago. Its totally a plot by Riot.

rtbf2234347211 votes

but while doing so, they're buffing their favorite flashy champs which they worked "so hard on over the years".

They worked and did a realy bad job. Yasuo its a failure of a champion (like Zoe and Kalista) . And they did not do nothing to making him fit in the game in a balanced state. They did a very incompetent job on Yasuo.

Yasuo was added in 2013 and they did not bothered on making any champion modification. Even if it helps Yasuo players and opponents alike.

I look at his Patch History and all i see is "BUG FIX" + "stat increase", this don't mean the champion is strong, it just means the champion have problems... it's shameful.

Riot behaves like a big Yasuo funboy, so that ends up explaining a lot.

You can't even play him top cause everyone counter him. Just one game from mid is getting nerf is AD dmg. Why wouldn't they buff is stats. His passive is so useless 5 armor + 5 magic resist near an enemy. SO USELESS IN A ONE V ONE SITUATION
