These buffs to Veigar are so hilarious
Guess every mage has to become long range farm all day/poke.
One day they will realize that people play certain champions for unique playstyles.

in plat veigars current winrate is 30%.
I didn't think it was possible to actually hit that low.
Evelynn did it after her first major nerf, back in the day.
To be fair, Eve in ranked was also used as a trollpick whenever someone didn't get the role they wanted, so a lot of her ranked games involved her actively trying to lose.
Her winrate in normal queues was a fair bit higher. Still in the 30-40's, mind you, but higher.
Are you talking about when she could stun? Because when she could stun she became FotM along with twitch and then both of them got nerfed into the ground.
Right after the stun was changed to a slow and her ult's numbers got sliced in half, yeah.

To be fair... uhm... doublefair, Eve was also mained back then by people who didn't give up on her, even when it meant they got banned or flamed or when their teammates saw an Eve and AFK'd. I don't know and never will know if it ever went even and they balanced out leaving her with an accurate winrate--but since winrates for all champions work like this, they'll only ever really be accurate on a 'close' basis.
Release Syndra had a 27% winrate
Its basically like "why even bother playing Veigar anymore?". Plenty of other attrition/poke mages out there that are way better and way more fun. Way to ruin a champ.
I don't understand why they had to change his playstyle and nerf him so hard. His kit revolved around surviving long enough to farm and then immediately burst your AP opponent down. However, you were extremely squishy and withOUT mobility. People could potentially bait your stun every time. You also tend to run into brick walls when facing AD mids (Zed, Talon, J4, Quinn). Especially AD mids that can harass and then shadow away.
The problem is Veigar's old play style (land E, proceed to delete fools) was a precarious balance, since they couldn't buff him without him annihilating everyone with ease, and they couldn't nerf him because he was bad with people who couldn't land the stun and would make him crap for those people. Sure, the delay on E is bad ( I feel it could be shorter while still providing non-
expensive
buys counter-play) but his old pattern is not going to come back.
Just a heads up but QSS wasn't counterplay to veigar. Usually by the time people can afford a QSS, veigar only needed the stun to get closer to you and dfgQR you and you'd die.
QSS was almost entirely useless against veigar, as the amount of times I've seen people escape because of it I could probably count on my hand, it really wasn't much. It's either tanky, bashees or mercs, and e rank 5 ignored mercs on nontanks anyways.
Um.. if you cannot hit QSS and click away before a slow ass veigar waddles 500 range to Q+R you, im sorry but you deserve to die/lose.
The outskirts of the stun was around what? 1100-1200 range? Veigars Q+R was like 600-700 range.
All I can say is that even in diamond it's an extremely rare occurance.
You could maybe convince me master tier players would be able to figure out to use QSS in time, but even then I think you'd only see it commonly happening with LCS players.
I'm Silver and i can almost always afford a QSS or even a more expensive item on first back.
just look like support veigar buffs to me
nah more like Veigar Bot.
Brazil's Veigar

If they are gonna make him more unreliable, I dont see why they aren't buffing his damage or cool downs.
They reduces most of his cooldowns by like 1-2 seconds, then removed 20% AP Ratio from ult.
unique playstyles
Lol so you play Viegar? You literally have 1 combo.

And it's completely different from anything other LoL characters have. Kinda like Oriana and her ball(kinda extreme case). Vaigar never felt like other mages.

"My combo is ruined! I was the only mage that stunned an enemy than unleashed a massive timed burst to erase them from existence! NOBODY ELSE COULD DO THAT!"
"Actually, quite a few of us do that."
"PRESS ALL THE BUTTONS! BURN ALL THE PEOPLE!"
"You shut up Brand, nobody plays you."
"We don't all cast exactly like Veigar does though."
"But it's close enough. Lock people down, unload burst. It's so easy a child could do it."
"Heeheehee!"

To land Veigar's old combo u had to land skillshot by pointing cursor AWAY from enemy. Of course after getting some practice it came naturally but there's no other champ where u don't have to put ur mouse cursor on enemy champ to land skill shot. Maybe it feels like every other mage if u don't use smart cast.
So you are saying that his skillshot is slightly different, that makes him completely unique?

Orianna. Spells are casted by ball while u controll the champion. Slightly different but completely unique. Orianna is an extreme case but it's easy to show my point.
Orianna =/= Veigar. We are talking about Veigar. Stop undermining your point by comparing Veigar to a mage who's actually unique. Veigar played like pretty much all other mages. Point at an enemy, remove said enemy. Veigar just didn't bother with that whole "missing" thing in exchange for not being able to do it outside of stone throwing distance.

Viktor, Xerath and Annie doesn't really need the stun to land their skills, Veigar yes.
Veigar needs stun to land W only, not Q or R, if anything Xerath relies on his stun even more and it got dropped by .5 sec
I would trade .5 off veigar stun for it beign like it was before any time of the day... A similar nerf to xerath would have been turning it into an anivias Q but with 1sec delay on his W, he would look like veigar now i bet xD... nvm he still has his Q , he would still be usefull for a siege.
No. Xerath's stun is a skillshot with a slow travel time, veigar's was an instant circle. y'all need to admit that it needed a delay.
Xerath stun is not the core of his KIT , his Q is, if u replace his stun for something else (a defensive mechanic) and relocated that dmg around his kit , he would still be functional, u put a delay on Veigars E without changing his W and now Veigar has 2 skill less that are zoning tools instead of CC/DMG.
And someday we will be saying that about instant blinks or other stuff asking for markers on where ppl is blinking/dashing in the name of clarity and balance.
I will also add that i agree that i needed to go , but the instant stun should have go and take a couple of weakness of Veigar with it.

You mean he is nothing like Lux where you land a Q then throw the rest of your abilities, or Swain where you land your W and then throw the rest of your abilities. Or any other mage.
Veigar E was hard to hit, but it was also almost instant which made it impossible to dodge. Lux E wasn't hard to hit especially with the piercing effect, but it could be dodged. Swain W has a delay. Xerath stun is slow and fairly easy to dodge.
Only different one is Annie, might as well give her 0.75 delay on her Q,W and Tibbers, see how that is fair
It isn't hard to hit.
And you misunderstood what I was saying, Just like the other listed mages, you land CC and throw your combo. Nothing unique and interesting about his playstyle in comparison because they are all immobile mages.
Also for Annie.
Her Q is a single target projectile W is a short range narrow aoe Tibbers is a short range aoe
Her stun you can see if she has up, and requires her to prime it.
Isn't that the theme with mages? Poke till low, then go in?
kinda but in veigar curret state i dont see how it is possible to really "go in"
Just make W usable again please. That's literally all I'm asking for.
HIs Q is the best part about his kit changes, I have no idea what you're talking about.
Then you have never played Veigar. Q was used to poke after level 4, if not even earlier. You can't do it anymore, and you can't trade with E+W cause they are both useless now.
I played a lot of Veigar, I just didn't play him like you.
I maintain that the Q change is my favorite. it allows me to hit multiple targets multiple times in team fights. And its increased range allows me to use it for other purposes. Is it perfect? No. It's getting buffs on the PBE for a reason.
But I sure as hell prefer it over his old point and click.
This I agree with you, the new Q is so much easier to farm, and is faster than ezreal Q, so I can almost always hit it BUT EVERYTHING ELSE
His new q is actually fine imo. However event horizon could be a lot better. Maybe put an instant slow inside the entire aoe before the stun. And also fix the bug were people can dash out of it. Return his Ult ap ratio but remove the enemy ap scaling.

It's not a bug. Champs CAN dash out of it, Rito said that the feature of stopping dashers was removed at the last minute to keep working on it.
Just wait till you see the LB nerfs hit live. -0.5% AP Ratio loss on mimicked Q and 0.75% AP ratio loss on mimicked W
Oh and the Lissandra "nerfs" are hilarious too.
They're not buffs.
The people complaining about the 1.25 second (cast time + delay time) are still right, because .75+.5.
Now it has the delay IMMEDIATELY when you cast it (even with a shorter delay time).
Which means instead of .75s for a player to react it's 1s, it just simply casts faster; veigar players were having problems with people getting the circle dropped on them dead center and then just walking out. Riot just made it worse by giving a larger buffer time for warning.
Unless I miss my guess and it's a flat .5s now.
Unless I read the patch notes wrong...
Pre-work Veigar: 0.25 s cast time, 0 s warning/delay time (total 0.25 s) 5.4 Veigar: 0.25 s cast time, 0.75 s warning/delay time (total 1.0 s) 5.5 Veigar: 0 s cast time, 0.5 s warning/delay time (total 0.5 s)
It is a buff.
Wrong. Pre-rework had a 0.5s cast time, no delay. 5.4 had a .5s cast time, .75 delay 5.5 seems to have a .5 cast time, .5s delay, and the warning indicator appears as soon as you activate it.
This means you have a 1s warning to get out, unlike 5.4, where you actually had less time to react to it.
I'm pretty sure that the cage starts forming the second you press the button, so it comes up at .5 seconds.
I won't argue about the pre-rework since I can't find a reference. However, if you go to the patch notes for 5.5 you'll read this:
E - Event Horizon DELAY BEFORE WALLS APPEAR 0.75 ⇒ 0.5 WARNING PARTICLE DISPLAY After cast time ⇒ On cast
So, the warning particle displays on cast (no delay), and then there is a 0.5 s delay from then until the walls actually pop up with the ability to stun. Both the total cast time and the total warning time are 0.5 s. Before, the total cast time was a bit greater than the warning time.
