Mundo is becoming a Hardcounter to AP, can we finally say that Riot supports hardcounters?

We need a serious talk about this Dota2 has 93% of their champions played in pro and that for a real reason: hardcountering is a thing

the absolute rule of the nature in a moba to have all of your champion played in pro you need a niche, A UNIQUE one that isn't shared by any other champion in your class

But here is the thing: No hardcounter has been a rule to Riot since the night of times, but at the same time we have things like Kled ult Camille ult promoting hardcounters you need a knockback/displacement to stop camille ult you need a terrain/aoe cc like nami ult against kled ult

but now, with this mundo change it's becoming clear that riot understood that hardcounters are needed in a strategic moba if you want the pros to pick mundo you need to give them a reason: the reason here is countering massive magic damage comp

So from now, i'll just consider that riot promots hardcounters, and everytime a discussion about it happens i'll remind them this mundo change, and every recent design decision that was made

That's not what a hardcounter is though. It's simply being more effective against a certain type of ability or damage. Would you call Galio a mage hardcounter? Because he counters about everything :P

Nah, it's just about giving champions more defined strengths Mundo has been lacking one for a long time now.

Because he counters about everything :P

He doesn't counter everything, he will tank less damage against a comp with physical damage than magical damage "he can build armor"

and do what an other tank like malphite/rammus can do with armor but one thousand time worse

in fact, galio win rate went to 44% since his armor nerf

Nah, it's just about giving champions more defined strengths Mundo has been lacking one for a long time now.

that's hardcountering then, because mundo's power will be focused in games where he fights a lot of magical damage while being average in other games So if your team has a lot of magical damage, then mundo will unlock 100% of his strength and destroy you

The only hard counter riot supports is ranged vs melee :)

actually there's a couple of hard counters in the game atm but it's always vs certain bruisers, sometimes against other bruisers but usually vs ranged champs

it's nice to see the tables turning, that'll show those fuckin mages

Ahristocats1 votes

what about yasuo against ranged champions

Big Lincoln1 votes

i don't really consider him a bruiser but mage and adc players eternal screeching about him on boards is always nice :)

No, it's not. It's the Qualifier patch. Urgot is going to be available for Worlds, he wouldn't be if 7.15 was the Worlds Patch.

I'd feel like Mundo already kinda countered AP, who tend to be ranged because he's a juggernaut who's great at running people down and would probably perma zone mages once he gets Spectre's Cowl.

I'd expect this change would help him fight tanks who generally use magic damage, although you would expect 25% current health on a low cooldown to be plenty.

If he's balanced around it I'd be fine with it, as someone who plays mostly AD's.
