Brand passive triggers Luden's but Gp's doesn't.

Title. Brand's passive triggers Luden's Echo passive, but Gp's doesn't. I dunno if Darius does or not as I've never tried to play AP Darius.

There is a difference, though. Brand's passive can only be applied by his spells, so perhaps it is treated differently because of that. Darius and Gangplank's passives may be treated as on-hit effects instead of spells.

GP's parley is basically an enhanced auto attack instead of a spell

I'm not talking about parley, I'm talking about his passive, which is a spell and is magic damage. As is Darius passive.

All three are magic damage over time, difference is brand's activates Luden's and the other two don't.

If it doesn't require mana to apply, debuffs do not proc spell effects.

In general, if it doesn't work with Spellthief's Edge, it doesn't work with Luden's Echo.

Luden's specifies that the charges are expelled on the next spell hit, doesn't even have to be magic damage. If Brand's passive triggers it then we can assume that passives that cause damage over time are considered spells, therefore Gp's should activate it. Even if I'm wrong on that point, parley is STILL a spell and an autoattack, much like Ezreal's Q it functions as both with the exception that Ez's can't crit and Gp's can.

DoT's that do magic damage are a mixed bag though; Teemo's E is considered an on hit effect with a DoT and his R is a DoT spell. Brand's passive is considered a DoT spell but Gangplank's Q is considered an on-hit.

In general, if it can be applied by the champions autoattack without any mana expenditure it is not a spell effect.

It's because brand's passive is a spell and GP's Dot is a debuff. Only spells can proc things like liandry's and Luden's.
