@Riot considering the potential diver update for preseason, What about Diana?

First question should obviously be whether or not she'll be in it or not

but other than that, what direction do you plan to take her? some kind of diver/skirmisher hybrid with damage consistent enough to, if her burst fails than she can quickly make work of her opponent, and not have such a hard time with tanks. But also good enough burst, that she can put a carry low and use her constant damage to finish them off.

or completely flip her into an assassin/diver focusing less on her passive and more on "bye, bye ADC"

As it stands Diana in some ways serves both. She can delete a target very fast but then right before that pesky Syndra dies she presses R and you die anyways but her damage over a period of time isn't that bad either due to her passive in combination with item 3115 . Let's not forget she's also a pretty good tower killer, since her passive does damage towers.

But she does suffer some problems like -she stat-checks -Although you could apply this to almost any assassin, she snowballs, very hard if she does miraculously even manage to get a lead -No escapes once she gets in(although, you could argue she'd want to stay in a fight) -She builds damage>gets evaporated after bursting someone down. builds tank>no damage. builds both > not enough damage, whilst still dying too fast(considering her passives existence and lack of escapes, this build would seem most optimal on paper but not so much in practice.

What're ur thoughts on Diana?

She's kinda got that Akali problem where she's basically either globaling people or dying immediately in fights. She's in a strange place and I will always be more of a fan of mid Diana than jungle. Seeing an emphasis on that role (Reworking jungle focused passive to be more relevant to her current problems immediately comes to mind) would be interesting. She's always walked a fine line between AP bruiser and her passive, W, and E are results of that while QR are a very Mage-y sort of thing. I'd be interested in seeing work done to her passive and W most, E is fairly unique and interesting while QR is all she's about.

Either that or rework QR in a way that supports her bruiser-y, scrapper playstyle and change out burst for dps. I don't actually think there's a way for both mid and jungle Diana to exist in her current iteration. Either she clears like a monster and is a gank machine or she's able to produce the damage and pressure that earns her farm in mid. You buff QR and she's stronger mid, buff passive W and she's stronger jungle.

I would love to see her as the ap version of Fiora, the first ap skirmisher. Diana is unique imo, she excels at too many things but doesnt do them fine like ahri does. I want them so give her clear shrengts and weaknesses and give her proper builds she wants, right now her builds are all over the place. Diana to me is a strong female fighter that should do some burst but also do sustained dmg, she should be the opposite of Leona, I still want her to be cold and feared. I would love if they actually let her gameplay revolve around combos with moonlight, I think her E is lackluster and needs to be changed most Diana players dont even take it until lv8 unless its necessary in some matchups.
