It took me a while to get it, but ARURF is actually no fun.
Warning. This is ranty and definitely badly constructed thread. It's just my thoughts, as they come regarding ARURF. If you are too sensitive for rants, then skipping this thread is advised. You have been warned.
I'm supposed to have fun in this mode, right? But not only I can't pick what I want to play, I constantly get obliterated by OTPs who lucked out their mains, or URF monsters. So I start another game. And another. And another. Win or defeat. Random wins that happen have NOTHING to do how I play, but if we have OTP or URF monster in our team. I could be literally AFK for whole game and we'd win, just cause we have hecarim, or other of similar level.
Today I kinda felt like playing singed. Well, RNG said no. And matchmaker made sure whatever mild fun'ish experience I could possibly have would be further ruined by frag-collecting [pick OTP or random URF monster] that do only that. kill stuff, don't push and just farm kills. This way of treating enemy side, like some frags to collect is simply infuriating.
So I play game after game (or rather defeat after defeat), If I win it's not thanks to me, if we lose, it's actually when I'm doing pretty good. Getting into match after match and.. I really am not smiling. i'm not happy. I'm no longer expecting anything. There's no excitement. I've used to play old good URF for 8 hours a day, for whole week and i still was having a blast. Now? I just start next game out of habit feeling rather annoyed.
I really expected this years URF. But this shit we have is just atrocious. I totally get that URF was never meant to be balanced, it was supposed to be chaos. And it used to be "fun chaos". Now however, it's "fun sucking chaos"
- The urf stats are busted for ADs, making MF, vayne, lucian, twitch, kog, sivir each shooting mini Veigar Rs per AA at 2.5 AS.
- Objectives are steamrolly. I have no god damn idea why winning team has to have bonus stats from killing "has it all" dragon.
- There has to be some kind of hidden feature of "if you are ahead you deal more damage than you should". That, or duskblade (that EVERYONE BUYS) also work on your abilities. And I'm not even talking when it's endgame.
- Players are spoiled, or rather rotten. Everyone threats teammates and enemies like garbage. There's always at least one asshole that has to rub in some more salt into the wound with 'ez' (this is especially true if they pick OP URF monster champions.) Noone helps and if they do, it's usually the OP URF monster champion just passing by your lane to farm frags
Not to be fully pessimistic. Whenever I lucked out and got champion I want to play (like janna) and enemy team didn't had URF monster champions, then it was fun. Usually we had such monster on our side, so enemy team was like "yeah.. finish this already".. And only I pushed for the win. Still though. That rare games were fun.
P.S. I've had fair amount of chances to play URF monster champions. Imo it's kinda boring to use them. I'd rather pick something less OP.
P.P.S The whole Hextech cubes and keyragments are really garbage feature. Whoever made it certainly didn't want players to actually get anything out of it, unless they spent their lives on the game.
Edit: the cannon that shoots you where you want is fun, like really good idea. That truly feels like something URF needed :)
