Jhin mid goes really well against mages. I made an Ahri desperate some games ago because if you manage to keep 3 minions alive and time your Q well enough she will get tons of damage and after a fair amount of poke your executing 4th shot makes her either feed or retreat from lane.

I completely agree, in a perfect world if junglers did not exist, jhin would be a perfect lane bully especially against mages, however this is not a perfect world, which is why I believe as long as jungler exist, jhin really needs to be bot lane with some back up to protect him. Even pro players say hes kinda a sitting duck without a proper comp built around him

Nah, a bit of self awarness and Jhin's skill range help a lot, just get your traps at level 3 and set them where you don't want the jungler to pass, get a pink ward and manage the trinket ones in a way that let you some freedom.

I usually find problems after the lane phase because that's when your team forgets that you need a cover to do your job.

You can avoid most ganks as Jhin. Ward one side and set up your traps in hotspots that aren't covered. Attempt to stick to that side. Outside of matchups where a mage might have point and click lockdown, a jungler should never get near you.
