Is Spellvamp imbalanced?

no one buys it except Vladimir but when the stat is strong, Vladimir becomes cancer and a lot of manaless champions like Rumble have a way to sustain in the lane forever.

what if the spellvamp is reduced to 5% against minions and increased to 20% (from 15%) against champions?

in every spell vamp thread i tell it

Vladimir Rumble Kennen were the reason that spellvamp got gutted since season 2, manaless sustain

either give them mana, or reduce the healing on minions, but i'm afraid that it won't do anything to vlad because he can target champions with a point and click spell.

Vlad is super short range.

SaltyKracka3 votes

The fact that spellvamp has to be balanced around manaless champions means it will never be strong on champions who use mana.

Also Vlad being cancer and all that.

Troiann1 votes

I honestly cannot see how vlad is cancer.

SaltyKracka4 votes

Ranged. Manaless. Infinite sustain. Absolutely braindead.

Ring any bells?

I've gotten pissed of at vladimir's, but somehow he never feels unbeatable. If i die to him, I fucked up. He has range and he has invulnerability, but to pay for it his range is awful, his waveclear isn't anything special. Very little utility and almost no CC outside of W and rylais. His spamming is annoying but not as horrible as some people say.

I have more trouble with galio and anivia than vlad.

SaltyKracka2 votes

I called him cancer. I didn't say he was unbeatable. Calling his E not anything special in terms of waveclear is pretty lol, though.

Troiann1 votes

It's decent at clearing waves, but I mean......you ahve to literally be in the minion wave to do it.

MohawkBird1 votes

You just contradicted yourself.

He has range and he has invulnerability, but to pay for it his range is awful. . .

Crossette6 votes

His kit is literally infinite sustain that still manages to have burst damage, not to mention the Fizz E of a spell they call his W.

Spell vamp just makes it worse.

Mr Vulcanator1 votes

He's super short ranged and he needs items and several levels to be much of a threat. If you can hurt him from outside his range you can kill him.

MohawkBird2 votes

It's not really hard for him to get past that early game weakness. Infinite sustain allows him to easily get through the early game like nothing so he can easily get his revolver to actually become a threat.

Not really super short ranged anyways. He gets played in the top lane, and he either outranges the enemy melee or is the same range as another ranged top laner. Not short at all.

Another good suggestion.

dota 2 has this system of spell vamp, it promotes fighting because you heal more if you do damage to heroes. i'm all for riot to reduces vlad healing against minions

If we reduce spellvamp vs minions same would need to be done with lifesteal.

i'm surprised that riot didn't do it yet.

the biggest problem with spellvamp(besides eventuall abuse cases like vlad) is that it feels pathetic for aoe unless you hit an entire minion wave, which makes it very un-attractive for most mages. Reduceing it vs minions rather than for aoe and giving a cap for aoe would make it more usefull for most champs and probably not overbuff someone like vlad(who needs a rework anyway).

AOE penality was made to reduce healing against minions not against champ, if riot reduces the healing for all they will remove the 33% penality

i think unlimited healing on aoe would still be hard to balance, oriana healing nearly to fullhealth with 1 good ult combo could be problematic for example. But as i said, i'd rather see it reduced for minions and capped instead of reduced for aoe, like not healing more than 200%(which equals hitting 6 targets right now)

if orianna uti deals 500 damage to 5 targets, it would heal for 500 which is fair because she hit 5 people, but if it's op than you're right we should put a cap

spellvamp is already really not that great compared to lifesteal. and that guy already has built in lifesteal

Mr Vulcanator1 votes

It's pretty weak though. At max level his Q is like 100 HP.

WalkingInACircle1 votes

Its just hard to implement a fair version of the stat with all the various types of spells out there.

Kyrrion1 votes

It'll never be balanced because there's not a single level to it due to the variances in spells.

The only thing I can actually see working is by making WotA have an active that temporarily lets you vamp any damage done to an enemy champion, or something along those lines.

Spell vamp would be fine if AoE spells counted as single-target spells when hitting only one target.

they do, if they don't riot really need to get over theirselves and quickly changes it.

Very very few do. I believe Karthus' Q and Morde's Q are the only ones that change between single-target and AoE. Brand's E is single-target for the initial and AoE for any splash. I think Ryze's R is the same. Ahri's W is single-target, even when hitting multiple targets.

All other AoE abilities are always AoE.

Mordekaiser and I've seen some Fiddlesticks players build a WotA from time to time.
