Dorans Pants1 votesThis problem is not exclusive to vayne though. Dmg is just too high. I remember when you could make trades without fearing to lose more than half your HP even as a squishy.
As zilean, for example, it was not uncommon for me to rush in, slow and follow the enemy and to concentrate on hitting both bombs, while tanking some hits in the process. But this maneuver has become so risky, now that you explode after three hits, that you usually just sit back and try to hit clutch max range double bombs, which are easily dodged by the likes of vayne.
trading in a soraka lane is usually pretty pointless anyway, as your lane partner will usually hand them over free sustain by walking into her q´s, which doesn´t mean that you should never trade ever but going for risky trades is usually not worth it.

Janna isn't meant to trade, she is meant to poke and enhance. If you want a trading support, play one like Pyke, or Thresh, or Alistar.

The supports you listed are all in supports, you don't even play bottom lane so you probably wouldn't even know the basic difference.

Her damage is also complemented alongside her PTA rune, which procs the bonus damage on the 3rd AA.
She has a weak laning phase because everything she does is single-targeted, meaning she can't do damage/deal trouble between more than 1 enemy at the same time.

BeatzBoyFTW2 votesYou literally walked up to her face that is a lot nearer than Vayne's full AA range, and even worse, all the way behind the minion line. What you did there is simply took a ton of free unnecessary damage from both Vayne & minions themselves. You overestimated how much "damage" you can deal as a Janna, especially against someone who has a Soraka beside her.
Her damage & mobility is already her main source of strength in compensation of not having a single AoE ability. And as everyone said, you're playing one of the squishiest enchanter support champion. That sort of damage wouldn't be the case if you're playing someone like Alistar.

Solicitude2 votesYou allowed yourself to get hit 3 times in a row by a Vayne as a squishy. Vayne has weak early game, except if you allow her to free hit you and you cant lock her down.
As for the weak early game, let me clarify that. Compared to most ADCs, Vayne has a very short attack range and no wave clear and that translates to her "weak early game". If you keep her away from you and harass her she has pretty much lost her laning phase. And playing Caitlyn+Janna into Vayne+Soraka you do just that. Stay at max range and poke her when she tries to cs. But you literally walked right into her phase. But she can still dish out huge damage if you dont respect her.
Now look at Vayne in top lane. Compared to most top-laners who are melee-short, she has a range advantage which completely removes her "eak early" simply because she can harass you.
"Weak early game" is a combination of some factors: range disadvantage, early dueling disadvantage, wave clear disadvantage. But because Vayne has a range and wave clear disadvantage doesnt mean she cant out-duel you if you walk onto her face.

WEAK EARLY GAME DOES NOT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM MEAN YOU WIN ALL TRADES UNDER ALL CONDITIONS.
weak early game champions still have winnable trade conditions. in vaynes case, its if she either lands a stun condemn or if the trade lasts longer then 3 autos due to PtA
