If you get exhausted there should be a short duration where you're immune to other exhausts
^
^
Exhaust really needs to be split into two spells. One a slow/ground and the other a damage nerf/resist shred. Because if you get hit by the first one, you can at least fight back. And if you get hit by the second one, you can at least run away. Right now if you get nailed with Exhaust you're just hosed unless you have a mobility skill to go zooming away with.
Let's not put Grounded onto a Summoner, thanks.
Not saying Grounded as a Summoner Spell is a good idea, but if it did happen it'd certainly force people to think twice about taking Flash knowing that another Summoner Spell could prevent them from using it. Ganks could be absolutely devastating if it was taken by Junglers too...
Yea, instead of mids taking Exhaust, they'll just take that Summoner instead and it'll be Flash/Grounded and they get a free kill every time its up.
I think there's some merit in the idea, though. One for disabling their mobility (in which case, ground doesn't seem necessary--maybe slowing the dash speed?), and one for reducing durability (maybe even make it a mix of flat pen and %pen so it's useful against tanky comps as well, or even combine it with ignite).
I say this out of concern for my main, but I'd really rather not have my main hard countered by another Summoner Spell.
Besides, punishing Mobility always punishes immobility more, as the mobile have ways to not be within range in the first place.

: Say wutt bruh?? ![]()
I would love a reworked Slow&Ground
.We would finally have a Summoner's spell that can deal with mobility. If balance it around the ground effect and add a small slow like 15% for 2sec.210sec CD.It could very well be balanced.

That isn't entirely a bad thing. Since everyone uses Flash, would be nice to have something to counter it with.
Let's not put Grounded onto a Summoner, thanks.
Why not if you can screw healers with ignite, burst with Barrier/exhaust,why not screw mobility champions for like 2 seconds?
Because without GW, Healers would need a major overhaul. As in, it's either they're completely overpowered or they're utterly useless depending if the enemy has purchased Grievous Wound. Besides, if you wanna complain about Ignite of all things applying GW, you'd better complain about Morello or Executioner's first.
lol who takes Barrier?
Exhaust is a necessary evil imo. Without it, Assassins would likely run rampant, as Supports being overpowered is really the only thing keeping them in check right now.
And the answer to "why not screw mobility champions..." is because, as I've said in another comment you replied to, punishing mobility always punishes immobility more.
I try not too bitch too much about GWs.
Barrier used to be good.Oh the good old days, when ADCs took barrier. Well,we could remove the current exhaust and just adjust assassin accordingly.Since some assassin now have a time frame before they kill you and you use exhaust it screws them over. It's weird defending assassin, they're class I hate the most.LOL
I must disagree on your last statement.Unless you have an example on how it would screw immobile mages as well. If you let's say use the new exhaust (2sec ground,15% slow) on Riven you literally unable her to use 2 of her spell and flash, but if you let's say exhaust Lux.She can still fight back.It could be used on enemies to restrain them from getting away, but unlike the current exhaust it wouldn't shred resistances and slow AS(myb?).
Because Flash is disabled by Grounded as well.
Someone runs at Lux until they're in range for this new Summoner, Ground her, and kill her because she can't Flash
Someone runs at Ahri until they're in range... never mind she used QR to put more distance between them.
Why

Why
Because now more top and mid laners take exhaust
Because now more top and mid laners take exhaust
Because ignite is not even close to as good as exhaust.
Stop that. Ignite is good. The problem is that Exhaust is far, far more versatile as it offers a potential alternative numerous other summoners. It isn't objectively better, it's just that despite being weaker than ignite at what it does, it does a billion other things.
Enemy has DPS?
Enemy has Burst?
Want to secure a kill?
Need to get away?
Need to peel?
CC'D?
(yes, exhaust can be cast while CC'd)
Cuz exhaust is overloaded trash and thats obvious, slow, armor mr shred, attack speed reduct, and a dmg reduct lol ok
Define "short duration" cuz the way i see this is it helps people not stack them.
I would say like 10 secs before you can get exhausted again cuz when someone exhausts you only to get exhausted a second time is insane lol
How about ignite?
Ignite doesn't tend to invalidate you, even if you rely on healing in some form.
Ignite doesnt make you do no dmg. Sure ignite applies grevious wounds and does true dmg but now you mostly see exhuast in the mid lane before you see ignite. I mean if ignite slowed you, shred your mr and mr and also did the true dmg then yes ofc I would say to have a time before you can ignite also.
I think a better solution would be to just nerf exhaust. no?
LOLOLOL nerf exhaust riot would never do this are you insane lol?
To be fair, the armor mr shred is not even that big. It's only relevant in the early game, and even then it's debatable.

Ehhhh, think of it as an extra Serrated Dirk late game. Or equivalent to the pen of Duskblade and Maw before Lethality happened.
If you get exhausted you should probably be disengaging anyways.

Just disengage from a 30% slow as a melee champ lmao

Just disengage from a 30% slow as a melee champ lmao
(Garen removes the slow with his q)
just a few of the meele champs that have disengage. The list goes on. It's not hard to disengage as a meele with all the mobility they have to compensate for not being ranged.
just a few of the meele champs that have disengage.
And how many of them need to use that "disengage" to engage into Exhaust range in the first place? Last I checked Aatrox wasn't prone to casually walk up to the ADC to start attacking them.
Lets see here aatrox's engage was wasted, akali can be an exception, camille cant leave, trynd can but its eh, garen maybe, fizz nope, ekko yea, heca no kat no lee no jax no j4 no irelia no way she has no disengage dont know where you got that from, gregas no riven usually uses flash to engage if she gets to you otherwise your positioning was trash, sion no kled no only only like 3 champs you listed can realistically get out of the 30% slow so im with cyanide on this one
Fizz - are you kidding me? Zhonyas + his E + his Q gives him quite a lot of disengage opportunities. He is one of the slipperiest champs out there.
Kat - W+E, Zhonyas. Especially if she has multiple daggers (which a good Kat should have - you dont jump in blindly without an escape plan).
Gragas has his E and Ult. If all else fails, just facetank with his W passive (he is a tank, after all).
Lee - didnt know that kicking away your opponent, slowing your opponent with your E, or wardhopping away wasnt disengage.
Camille - she ults and everyone except her target gets pushed away. Or you can use your W to slow down your enemies (which fits disengaging, since she kites back). Or she can E away if her CDs are up, though she probably used that to engage.
Jax can E-stun to get the melees off him and use his Q (with wards if no targets are nearby). His Q does have a pretty low cooldown at max rank + trinity.
Irelia can stun/slow and use the Trinity movespeed to get away, while firing her Ult to get a little bit of health back (and maintain her movespeed).
Riven - if only she didnt have 4 dashes in her kit + a stun. If she blows all her movement getting to her enemy, she isnt being played well (casue if you blow all your abilities to engage, you dont have any left for damage). As for mispositioning, well, thats up to debate. Theres a reason why the top Challenger players are Riven mains. They dont all get there because they are playing a trash champ who cant gapclose without flash.

Yeah man, you clearly have no idea how Riven works. Just ask Adrian/Viper how great Riven's teamfight ability without flash is.
Spoiler: it's shit and they just splitpush when flash is down.
This is the comment I was responding to:
riven usually uses flash to engage if she gets to you otherwise your positioning was trash,
Nobodys talking about teamfighting. We are talking about engaging and disengaging a fight.
So youre telling me that every singe player in Challenger who lets Adrian or Viper get in their face without flash has trash positioning?
If she blows all her movement getting to her enemy, she isnt being played well
I was referring to this and this is simply wrong - I wouldn't put it like burst did.
So you're telling me that Adrian and Viper play Riven badly whenever they E-R-F-3rdQ engage?
Dude - you have to read it in context of the post. You cant take one line away and pretend like its wrong, when its perfectly legitimate in context of the post.
We are talking about being able to disengage a fight, and what tools X champion has in their kit to disengage a fight. If you want to go all-in in a teamfight and blow all your spells gapclosing to the enemy without thinking beforehand about the possibility of getting exhausted and not being able to disengage, then yes - you are playing Riven badly.
If Adrian or Viper E-R-F-3Q engage, I'm guessing they actually think about these things. They know they dont need to disengage, or at least they presume they dont need to. Sometimes it backfires, but for the most part they know if they should save some spells or whether the situation warrants them blowing their movement for engage, whether they can get the kill, and whether or not they are getting stuck in a bad position with no way out.
If you blindly blow all 3 q's, your E, and your flash to engage into someone/a team with an exhaust without knowing your own damage output, then yes - you are playing Riven badly.
Dude - you have to read it in context of the post. You cant take one line away and pretend like its wrong, when its perfectly legitimate in context of the post.
You just took something out of context what someone else said - and tried to make me defend that stupid quote. And now you complain that I do the same to you with something that you actually said?

Yes, they may think about it and decide that they have no other option. The point that OP made is essentially that Exhaust wrecks champions like Riven super hard and that they very often can't disengage. And that's true and I am very sure that neither Viper nor Adrian would disagree. And they both get frequently frustrated with Exhaust, especially when the enemy team has more than one.
If you blindly blow all 3 q's, your E, and your flash to engage into someone/a team with an exhaust without knowing your own damage output, then yes - you are playing Riven badly.
"blindly" - where is that coming from, it wasn't mentioned before.
This is your original point:

And you completely disregard that in fact Riven does very often have to use (almost) all of her dashes + flash to engage.
And Riven's engage is also heavily flash-reliant, probably more so than most divers.
And it's also a fact that exhaust is super effective against Riven and it's very easy to make the mistake and dive into the enemy team with them having exhaust up - simply due to it's very low cooldown. Even very good Riven players make such a mistake frequently and they very often have to pay with their lifes for it. (this is btw a reason why Riven usually has to have flash AND GA in the lategame to be useful in teamfights)
If you doubt any of these three points (which you apparantly do) then go ahead and ask Adrian/Viper about it.
Sigh. People like you disagree to disagree.

I didnt make you defend anything. You took something I said out of context and then decided to defend the opposing position. If not, then your response was completely out of context of the conversation. So choose one - either your response was completely irrelevant, or we are talking about the situation the guy who I responded to was talking about.
If youre going to interject, then make a valid point and a contribution to the conversation. If not, then keep your correct-but-irrelevent opinions to yourself to reply to someone else.

If you have no other option, then dont blow your 4 gapclosers + flash to engage. Adrian and Viper didnt get to the top of challenger by losing games, or losing every game with an exhaust.
"blindly" - where is that coming from, it wasn't mentioned before.
It. Was. The. Conversation.
Do you not know what the "reply" function does? It replies to one persons comment. Meaning that the situation I described was in reply to the person's comment, which was about engaging fights and then disengaging when it becomes unfavorable once you become exhausted.
If you blow your 3 Q's, your E, and your flash for no reason except to gapclose to get some poke off, you arent playing Riven correctly cause youre left with very little damage. If you have enough damage to kill the enemy, you dont need to disengage now, would you?
A smart Riven will NOT blow her 3 Q's+E+Flash into a team with a bunch of exhausts without an escape route, or knowing her damage output to be able to kill an enemy through the exhaust (or CC them through the duration of the exhaust). If you decide to E-R-Flash-3rd Q like the top Riven players do, you dont do it at any random time, since the combos up once every 5 minutes - you only complete that combo when you have a high chance for a kill or a favorable teamfight.
And you completely disregard that in fact Riven does very often have to use (almost) all of her dashes + flash to engage.
Tell that to all the Challenger players who die to Viper and Adrian then. "Oh, you might be in the top 100 players in the game, but Riven should only get to you once every 5 minutes. You must be terrible at positioning."
Melee carry getting GA is nothing new. Many champions get a GA. What does that prove? It proves nothing except that GA is a good item.
If you doubt any of these three points (which you apparantly do) then go ahead and ask Adrian/Viper about it.
Sorry, I dont talk to either Adrian or Viper. I dont even know if they stream. Why dont YOU talk to them and see how they play Riven in a team with exhaust.
Or why dont you ask them how they get kills without their flash, since they are so flash reliant to gapclose.
Again, that was your original point:
Riven - if only she didnt have 4 dashes in her kit + a stun. If she blows all her movement getting to her enemy, she isnt being played well (casue if you blow all your abilities to engage, you dont have any left for damage). context: "Riven usually uses flash" (insultive words aside)
"It's not hard to disengage as a meele with all the mobility they have to compensate for not being ranged." (original quote that started the dispute)
Your main points that I disagree with
1: Riven usually has a significant amount of mobility left after engaging as she has 4 dashes
2: Riven isn't especially reliant on flash when engaging
3: (in conclusion) Riven is not that affected by exhaust
That is the context - that is what I replied to.
Sorry, I dont talk to either Adrian or Viper. I dont even know if they stream. Why dont YOU talk to them and see how they play Riven in a team with exhaust.
Or why dont you ask them how they get kills without their flash, since they are so flash reliant to gapclose.
I did ask Adrian and he said that splitpush is generally the most effective option to play Riven - and that exhaust being up generally is a strong incentive to keep splitpushing instead of grouping with your team.
So I agree with you the argument he posed he didnt really defend it well at all. Ofc riven can get to you with her flash down but not easily.
And that is exactly why Riven is really flash reliant when it comes to teamfighting. I mean you need to use your E anyways (to cancel the ult cast and for the doublecast in case you don't engage with your 3rd Q) so all you have to escape is two Q charges.. And that won't help you a lot when being slowed.
Somewhat unrelated: Exhaust has an AS slow aswell so all she really has is the AA-WQ-R and shouldn't be able to do much more.
[{quoted}](name=404 shitlord,realm=EUW,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=i60ocPGz,comment-id=0001000000000000000000010000000000000000000000000000,timestamp=2017-02-07T02:29:53.762+0000)
Again, that was your original point:
context: "Riven usually uses flash" (insultive words aside)
And thats your number one problem - you didnt understand the context. The context was which melee champions have some sort of disengage if/after they engage in case they get exhausted.
In the case of Riven, the guy I was responding to tried to make an argument that Riven gets screwed by Exhaust by not having any disengage. Lets break that down:
Youre honestly telling me that a champion with 4 dashes and 2 forms of hard CC doesnt have any disengage options? The reasoning? You spend all those dashes and all your CC gapclosing.
See, you bring up one specific context where Riven gets screwed - if you mindless go HAM then find yourself in a sticky situation. But guess what? In any context with any champion, if you mindlessly go HAM there isnt anything you can do. It doesnt matter if youre Riven or if youre Janna or if yorue Fizz; if you mindless spam all your abilties, no - you wont be able to disengage when after you engage and get exhausted. Its true for any champion.
No, my argument was a lot more narrower - if youre playing Riven, and you play her correctly, she has a lot of disengage options in her kit. Does that mean youll survive every time? No. It just means shes in a better position than say, Pantheon, at disengaging after she gets into a fight.
"It's not hard to disengage as a meele with all the mobility they have to compensate for not being ranged." (original quote that started the dispute)
Your main points that I disagree with
3: (in conclusion) Riven is not that affected by exhaust
When did I say Riven isnt affected by exhaust? As a burst caster, she is very much affected by exhaust since she loses a large portion of her damage.
Again, you confuse my point. My point isnt that she isnt affected by exhaust. My point is that she has options to disengage after she gets exhausted.
I did ask Adrian and he said that splitpush is generally the most effective option to play Riven - and that exhaust being up generally is a strong incentive to keep splitpushing instead of grouping with your team.
And thats your number one problem - you didnt understand the context. The context was which melee champions have some sort of disengage if/after they engage in case they get exhausted.
I explained that exhaustingly thourough. You sadly do not understand Riven's engage patterns and overestimate the strength of 1 or maybe (!) 2 Q's.
No, my argument was a lot more narrower - if youre playing Riven, and you play her correctly, she has a lot of disengage options in her kit. Does that mean youll survive every time? No. It just means shes in a better position than say, Pantheon, at disengaging after she gets into a fight.
That doesn't make sense, Pantheon is extremely vulnerable to exhaust so naturally he may be more vulnerable (although I am not sure, 1 Riven q vs Panth passive + tankiness is probably equally helpful when it comes to disengaging).
Again, you confuse my point. My point isnt that she isnt affected by exhaust. My point is that she has options to disengage after she gets exhausted.
She may have some options, but they are fairly bad. The original discussion was about how it was very hard to just disengage after getting exhausted and it still is very hard whether she has a Q or not.
- I want to see a reply
- I want to see what he said about absolutely needing flash to engage
- I want to see a reply about what he does when his enemy laner takes exhaust
- I want to see why and how he got to Rank 1 (or 2 or whatever) playing Riven if she absolute gets wreaked in every team who takes exhaust and if you need your 5-minute cooldown flash to engage a fight. And how often he starts off fights with his E-R-3rdQ-Flash combo, and whether going HAM all the time regardless of your cooldowns is the way to play Riven.
Great, I can only recommend his stream!
(but point 4 is amusing though, how come that you are arguing with me how Riven/Riven engages work when you don't play Riven and how you are arguing with me about how Adrian plays when you never watched him).
Don't forgot about a E-F-AA-WQ variation combo!
[{quoted}](name=404 shitlord,realm=EUW,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=i60ocPGz,comment-id=00010000000000000000000100000000000000000000000000000004,timestamp=2017-02-07T10:12:27.531+0000)
I explained that exhaustingly thourough. You sadly do not understand Riven's engage patterns and overestimate the strength of 1 or maybe (!) 2 Q's.
You might have explained it, but you missed the point of my post. Dont tell me what my own post means - i know what I posted. I was strictly talking about options Riven has to disengage after getting into the thick of a fight and getting exhausted.
That doesn't make sense, Pantheon is extremely vulnerable to exhaust so naturally he may be more vulnerable (although I am not sure, 1 Riven q vs Panth passive + tankiness is probably equally helpful when it comes to disengaging).
Which is exactly my point - Pantheon is extremely vulnerable to exhaust! (And Pantheon isnt really tankier than Riven unless he builds tankier. And think about that statement for a second - Pantheon builds tankier. Why? Not because he doesnt have good damage or scaling on his damage, and not because there isnt a plethora of lethality options that work very well with his kit. Its because he needs to build tankier to survive a fight.
Riven, on the other hand, has many more options with a more versatile gameplay. She can afford to build more damage and fulfill her role.
She may have some options, but they are fairly bad. The original discussion was about how it was very hard to just disengage after getting exhausted and it still is very hard whether she has a Q or not.
Ok - lets be honest here. Not many champions have "great" disengage options after getting exhausted.I'm talking about the best of a bad situation, and of the best of a bad situation, Riven has disengage options available to her. She isnt like an Aatrox or Rammus who need to fight their way out. She has some solid disengage options.
Great, I can only recommend his stream!
(but point 4 is amusing though, how come that you are arguing with me how Riven/Riven engages work when you don't play Riven and how you are arguing with me about how Adrian plays when you never watched him).
Just because I dont watch streamers and dont play Riven doesnt mean I cant understand her kit or how it works. Ive seen Youtube clips of Viper. Ive seen Huni play Riven in the LCS. Ive seen Faker's outplays on Riven. Ive seen highlights of Boxbox. And Ive seen them all kite around on Riven and turn bad situations into good ones by utilizing her mobility.
And how many of them need to use that "disengage" to engage into Exhaust range in the first place? Last I checked Aatrox wasn't prone to casually walk up to the ADC to start attacking them.
Let's see umm Akali has 3 dashes so she can get out, Fizz has two so he can get out, Ekko has two and one of them is only used as disengage in the higher elos. Kat has huge disengage. LEE SIN??? Gragas has a low e cd and he has his ult. Riven has 4 dashes, Sion's never land their ult anyways so might as well use it as disengage. Kled has 3 dashes. Kassadin has like 5 dashes. Camille has 2 and then her ult to disengage. U literally picked one champ out of the tons I listed and tried to prove a point. You failed.
The majority of the Champions you listed get into a fight with their only realistic way out of a fight.
yeaa
really has that kind of mobility
yeaa
really has that kind of mobility
love how you could literally only point out one champ out of the like 20 I listed. Also his ult saves him a lot. I've seen sions that never die while split pushing from just spamming ult. Maybe you just don't play with good sions.
only cowards run away :D
true sion's run death reduction quints and use their ults to get back into the fight after they die, just use your passive to stall your deathtimer and you effectively never really die :D, at least not for the first 20 to 25 minutes
Very good to proxy sion this way just suicide into turrets and mow them down with passive revive and repeat by ulting straight back or using ghost or tp
Nothing can stop you really especially since you will be worth less then a caster minion while you only get more and more beefy from the hp you get and thus only harder to stop as the game progresses.
you will be at their inhib by 20-25 minutes for sure ^^
after that just suicide on enemy champion since you have the shorter death timer lol trading kill for kill gives them a disadvantage at that point
It's the ultimate disrespect & cheese strategy and i havent found anyone who had an answer to it yet, guaranteed to tilt your opponents
if only revive still existed ^^ i miss that summoner
just disengage while a teamfight is on lmfao
