About Ahri...

I've picked up Ahri after her 5.2 changes, and she's been really fun, even after deserved nerfs. I'm glad she's closer to her roots; she's more fun that way IMO... But that's not the case for everyone who liked assassin Ahri. As much fun as she is now, I now understand their feelings that one of the healthiest assassins in the game no longer is one. Think about it. Ahri's all in assassin pattern was probably one of the most fair ones; she was reliant on landing a skillshot for most of her damage, and reliant on her ultimate. Her reliance on those spells to assassinate a target made her actually have windows of vulnerability; unlike, say, Leblanc or Zed or old Kass and Fizz who's omnidirectional movement on low cooldowns means they're always frustrating to play against. But with Ahri, if she screwed up, you could get away, and she was dead if you caught her out instead of just having her expending a 2nd cooldown or just using the same one again since those other mobility cooldowns are so short. (Fizz E, LeBlanc W-Mimic, Zed's shadows which he could blink back to.)

I mean, I'm not saying to revert Ahri back to an assassin, but maybe think about it? Think about having an assassin-esque champ with similar skill reliance and windows of down time so their opponents can actually do something, but also similarly rewarding if they land their skills and combo them properly.

I miss assassin Ahri. Like the OP said, she was probably the most balanced assassin as she was reliant to hit a skillshot to guarantee her kill or most likely die trying. Riot themselves said in a post a while ago that Ahri was the only TRULY balanced champion who they were pleased with. A few months later someone went ''NO! Ahri was supposed to be a kite mage all along, let's change her after all these years of people being happy with her!'' and then everything went to hell.

Why fix something that isn't broken? Nobody complained about Ahri, she was sometimes picked competitively and people liked her. She wasn't OP but she definitely wasn't weak, you just needed to know how to utilize her assassin playstyle.

She had her five minutes of fame where she was ''OP'' after the changes (even though I struggled to play her as I used to main ASSASSIN Ahri, and I couldn't adapt to the lack of burst), but after all the nerfs that followed shortly after I haven't seen more than two successful Ahris. Her mana costs are too high, her range is butchered so two of her spells are practically melee and most importantly, why even play a kite mage that relies on poking the enemy down to the point where you can jump into melee range to finish them off when there's bursty assassins like LeBlanc that can just skip the poking part and get the same results?

I've never thought I'd let my favourite champion go literally over night. You'll be missed, Ahri. You still hold a special spot in my heart and you always will, but things just aren't the same with you anymore. :c

Should you have an assassin with a safe laning phase, ranged wave clear that is usable in a siege situation and the ability to play like a mage when things don't go well?

Versatility should have a price, in this case lower/less reliable burst damage (compared to 5.1). At the moment, she's a mobile mage with some assassination potential.

Ahri was supposed to be the borderline between a kiting mage and an assassin. First they reworked her so her E amped damage... with DFG that put her fully into the assassin camp as long as most people were concerned. Now riot did a 180 and moved her into kiting mage.

I think I like her mage playstyle more and a lot of people think it's safer while still keeping her viable. But I get that a lot of people are missing her as an assassin.

Frankly I'm glad Assassin Ahri was more or less removed. Ever since that damage amp was put into her charm she wasn't the Ahri I picked up initially. It was always about the DFG, always about missing Q and W but because of 40% bonus damage my ult alone would kill any squishy. I understand that a lot of people loved Assassin Ahri but I personally hated it. Glad to have Kite Mage back. Sorry for those who lost their play style, though.

At the moment, I can't see them moving any power budget to a more Assassin play style. As it is, her damage ratios are more or less fine. In order to move budget they'd have to either take away mobility for the damage amp, which would basically just be pressing CTRL-Z on Ahri, or taking away damage from other abilities for the damage amp, but that would pigeon hole Kite Ahri back into an Assassin playstyle anyways.
