A trend I notice with the new honor system.

If I do an amazing job as support, and get my ADC fed in lane, they will often honor me.

Thats nice!

When I continue to peel for them, and set up kills and they keep doing well, the entire team notices... and honors them.

Honor is (often always has been) given as a popularity contest for the best carry that didnt spew any slurs or say anything to annoy people. With only one person to honor, and no stats to see, people have to recall how the match went (and thinking sucks NEXT MATCH PLS). They just honor the person they remember getting that triple kill in that sweet game winning teamfight.

I mean I have lots of "support life" moments I could share about not being valued, but not that long ago support contributions being overlooked where a common discussion, and now that we are down to just one honoring to give; it seem like supports (in my games at least) rarely get honored by more than the ADC.

Im sure experiences vary, but I just wanted to put this out there for Riot to consider with this new honor system and make sure no one is seeing "PENTA ASSIST" across their screen (and not getting honored because of less visible contribution) doesnt become another reason for people to avoid playing support.

This doesnt seem like a huge problem right now, but when other honor levels are more common (I mean it seems like everyone is honor level 2 and some people who are honor level 3 have also seen bigfoot), I just dont want people abandoning the support boat cause people dont honor supports.

Imo you are entitled.

I mainly see support/jungle honoured.

The ad honours the support and the support the ad. Mid and top mainly go for jungle (or the roaming supp). And jungle mainly picks the lane that went best.

It's more about the proximity and aid you have gotten from your teammate.

There's also the exception where 1 guy just solocarries and gets all 4.

So what it amounts to in my opinion is on average games support gets 1.5 honours, Jungler gets 1.5 honours. Adc/mid/top will get the slim pickings. Only if they really performed, and even then it's likely that the adc walks away with most leaving mid/top at nothing.

So I don't think supports should be complaining. It's not uncommon for the (playmaker/roaming) support to get marked. And even if you play something not noticeable like soraka/Janna you will still get 1 guaranteed from the ad.

Edit: I also have seen Bigfoot.

What!? The support who tends to make a lot of important, but detail oriented plays doesn't get recognition for their hard work, instead being out shined by the grandiose efforts of the carries?!?!?!

In other news, water is wet.

It really sucks, and there isn't much you can do about it unless you are a play making support is making a ton of good picks the entire game.

There's no doubt about highest KDA = most honors.

I got 3/4 possible honors playing support by shot calling. People are more likely to remember you if you make some good calls. But i do agree the honors often seem to go to the fed jungler/mid/adc. And yes, playmaking supports will more likely be noticed but that shouldn't be how it is. I main the more buff centric supports (lulu, nami, janna, sona etc) and as you said in your post, the only recognition comes from the adc and even they don't seem to notice just how much our shields/heals/peel impact their ability to pump out the DPS
