Just because YOU were bored of URF didn't mean everyone else was - and vice versa

So please, just give us both urf and arurf and let queue times tell you which one the players prefer.

There was a lot of hate on the boards over how URF got stale, and there was a meta, etc... Riot has echoed those sentiments as well.

Yet the last time URF was out in full glory, every queue i had popped in under 2 seconds. Despite it having been out before and for 2 weeks straight. Even ARURF queues didn't pop that fast its first time around. Blood Moon queues took several minutes at times even though it had never been out before.

I personally enjoyed URF. I don't play many different champions, i like try-harding in normals so i can't even go there and try something new. Yet with URF i felt comfortable picking anything deemed OP because everyone did it and even if you fed no one cared as long as they were getting kills (and if they weren't too they were happy to let the game end asap rather than have to sit around while you carried them). URF was a good opportunity to just play for fun rather than to win.

ARURF may seem the same, but it isn't. There's a level of frustration playing a champion you aren't prepared to play when someone on the other team has an OP pick that he's good on.

Also, i believe the biggest problem is that unlike ARAM where people will trade a strong pick if they're not good on it, everyone that plays ARURF wants the strong pick for themselves. No one will trade me Hecarim (who i destroyed URF with and have mastery 6 on) because they know he's strong in the mode, even if they've not played him and end up feeding with him. Likewise I'm unlikely to give up nidalee even though I've never played her in my life. Then on top of that if i do roll hecarim, it seemed to happen fairly often that people would ask for trades then dodge if i didn't (out of spite - if they can't have the op pick i can't either). All-in-all it really wasn't nearly as good in my opinion.

Which doesn't mean I'm right or you're right. We're both right because it's our opinions. I just don't resonate with riot's argument for switching to ARURF and i think it'd make a lot more sense to see what the players prefer by releasing both together and seeing which queue gets more action. I'm willing to go with the common opinion even if I'm wrong - if ARURF truly is the preference then so be it. So ARURF supporters (riot included) - are you willing to, or are you just scared that URF is truly more popular and want to put your preference over the majority?

If what you claim is true you lose nothing. If it's false then the players get what they want. It's a win-win.

but how exactly does having both open at the same time explain one is better than the other? It could just be that people wanted to try one mode first than the other. Then what happens is they are both equal? There are pros and cons for everything and this is no exception. I enjoy Urf, as well as ARURF. But i make a rule that if its just regular Urf i always play different champions. It got very stale when i played my favorite champions, that i basically stop playing it the next day and never touched it unless a friend wanted to play it.

With that said my one main gripe with Urf seems to be that people just got way too toxic. I remember my first time playing Urf. I wanted to try out Quinn and Sejuani. Those were two champions i wanted to play normally, but didnt want to be a burden for playing a champion i never played before. Not even 2 seconds from choosing my champion im already getting called out for losing the game because i didnt choose the OP champions. I cannot play champions i want to play/try out because all people care about is winning. I want to win too, but i also want to try champions i would have never though about playing in certain roles or all together. People dismiss these toxic people, not to report them, or they shouldnt be ban all because its just Urf and thats not right.

This was combat by having ARURF. which is a good thing because people cannot bitch at you because you didnt chose that champion, and basically its always a different set up for every match.

If a player plays both equally it proves that they like both and would play either (effectively their "vote" doesn't count).

Your main gripe is toxicity and yet i never experienced it. Maybe it was good luck on my part but no one ever seemed to care what you picked in my games of URF.

Although to make a different argument, blood moon only allowed 20 champions to be played. If we limited to only meta URF picks we'd have more than that. How does that mean URF was stale then? You can't come out with blood moon but call out URF for only letting 30 champions see play.

And if both were out both sides would get what they want anyways - i highly doubt queues would be too long. As was pointed out here i don't have riot's data on queue times, but unless they've ever said URF queue times were poor, they always seemed to be instant in my experience so i really don't believe that was the issue (URF also was regularly played during weekdays at lower population times versus the RGM weekends only of recent times).

Riot has waaay better data on how active the queue was than just your impression of queue times gives.

I agree that they have better data - yet they've never shown it.

There's nothing to prove that their data doesn't indicate URF was popular and they're just responding to a vocal minority. Their arguments for ARURF are always that URF got stale, but never have they said queue times got long. Their problem seems predominantly to be that a meta formed in a rotating game mode.

Big f$* deal. Some people may like that.

Why would they? You aren't the person who makes decisions on what modes are available to play, they are. Therefore the data is of no use to you.

You're accusing them of lying about what the data shows, but if they showed you the data you would either misinterpret it or still accuse them of lying.

I didn't accuse them of lying. as i clearly indicated in my response that you so conveniently didn't quote the entirety of, Riot has not said that queue times were poor for URF - merely that URF got stale which can be interpreted many ways (which i also described, they're echoing the boards sentiment).

Also as a statistician i could practically guarantee that I'm more qualified to look at the data than most people, although I'm not asking them to show the data nor am i claiming they have to/should.

I am saying however that they should either come out and say "queue times for URF suffered more than other RGMs" (i.e. give the conclusion) if that's true, and if it isn't then they shouldn't accept a mode is stale because the boards say it is.

Although it's vastly apparent that posting an opinion on the boards claiming that the boards are misleading riot's perception was a terrible idea...
