Are fast games actually "bad"?

So the biggest complaint i hear is that games are too fast, damage is too high, you basically can't play champions that start being "good" only after 2+ items. So the question really is, would people be ok with fast games IF it was simply a matter of gold generation going up? Basically imagine those old games where the average game time was 35-40 mins.... now imagine if you could get that same level of gold generation in a 20-25 min game. Games are faster because everyone has access to more income faster, BUT it's not decided by champions who can kick ass simply because their kits are "overly strong"

The average game time was NEVER 35-40 minutes tbh. That's a bunch of nostalgia that just isn't true.

Part of the perception that games are getting shorter is people getting better at the game, and games have always been faster the higher elo you go (bc people know how to push leads and people know when to ff).

The other part is that games are actually getting shorter because:

Early-game items that give a big damage boost item 3285 item 3147 item 3152

Rift Herald

Towers being like paper

Damage buff creep

Even still, the average game time was never around 40 minutes. It's gone from maybe ~30-35 minutes to ~25 minutes.

If riot got rid of levels and items, fast games would be fine. However not every champ is an early game champ.

It's more like the games are being decided before recovery can be made possible; One kill becomes a huge leverage towards victory.

Agree with this, i miss Anime combacks in games. Now is like i can't do anything really if my teammates lose hard enough.

If the entire game and all the scaling and champions were put in an accelerated pace I would be fine with it. The game being too fast is more about the game being out of control by the time late game champs hit their power spikes.

The problem with fast games is the synergy with both late game champions and the flow of the game. It feels like by the time you even get your Ultimate you know what team is massively behind and which one is massively ahead. The games in some cases are over before you even hit double digit levels because of the pacing.
