Why are people screaming nerfs for Vayne and not Jinx?

Clint Orris··11 votes·1,210 views

Jinx provides so much more to her team.

  • Long range AOE crits
  • Global AOE execute
  • Long range Poke
  • And possible 3 man snare

Vayne has

  • Mobility with a self peel
  • And consistent single target focus damage with true damage

So why is Vayne so bad again?

I agree they both need nerfs.

Amen.

cus jinx doesn't have 2-3 different ways to escape

Vayne has her tumble....

Fadedpf2 votes

and bork and condemn. And not to mention potential Flash, Heal, QSS and stealth. Catching Vayne is playing into her hands and all of her fucking escape tools. Its not just "outplay her Q" or "Flash on her"

Clint Orris4 votes

You're acting like not everyone has access to BotRK, Flash, Heal and QSS...

You guys forget that she has to get 3 consecutive auto's on her target to do damage...

Fadedpf2 votes

Only a handful of ADC's buy Bork and it is a massive kiting tool. Her Q and E are insanely good tools to peel and escape. So with all of these types of escapes Vayne isnt easy to kill when it comes to all other ADC's. This is a problem within its own, not even addressing her damage output with just bork.

Because Jinx was meaningfully nerfed multiple times. The last FOUR* changes Vayne got were buffs.

* - Effectively five buffs, because Vayne is married to the BotRK.

"Because Jinx was meaningfully nerfed multiple times"

Consistently Remaining a top performing champion out of the entire roster is not being meaningfully nerfed. Lucian, Ryze, and Sejuani were meaningfully nerfed. If you call the non existent nerfs jinx received meaningful I can only pray that Lucian gets "nerfed" into jinx tier.

Ultimate lost 180+40% bonus AD ratio Early rank Swicheroo lost 20% AS Max rank Switcheroo lost 60% AS Base damage nerfs to Chompers and Zap! Nerf to Jinx's health.

Completely untouched, right? Unlike Vayne who was given only buffs since Season 3.

YCitizenSnipsY2 votes

Considering all those "nerfs" ended up with her having a 30% play rate on top of a 52% win rate I'd say yeah she was completely untouched. She's played every bit as Vayne is and wins just as often. You must be a Jinx main to believe she is balanced and not in need of a real nerf.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Sadly for you, I play 99% of my games as a mid lane.

Clint Orris1 votes

Yet, she has been seen in constant competitive play in the pro scene ever since release.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Maybe because people in LCS can work around her weaknesses? Nah, that can't be it. They must be picking her because she's OP-as-fuck-please-ban.

Oh, right. They don't actually ban her.

GG Noob Team3 votes

Why not both?

Tumble, but combined with ridiculous MS boost, and stealth, could travel 600-700 range without being touched, every 2 secs.

Because Jinx is much more vulnerable to getting jumped on. She has no way to survive an assassination attempt and is reliant on the team for her peel. If she gets caught out she is usually screwed.

Meanwhile Vayne can just be solo farming a lane and Zed can pop out of nowhere and ult her and Vayne can literally sit there and kill him before he completes his combo. Name me one other ADC who can not only survive a 1v1 ambush against an assassin, but also kill him.

Clint Orris2 votes

Lol yea of shes a.....duelist....duh lol. Try to solo and Jax, Trundle, Tryndamere, as an assassin and see how well that goes for you.

And you guys forget that 250g counters her stealth.

Every single champ you mentioned is melee, they have to find a way to get in your face before they fuck you, and because they are melee they are easily kited therefore not as effective in teamfights which is why they usually splitpush. The fact that Vayne melts you from range while also having mutliple disengage tools is why people hate her so much.

Clint Orris2 votes

No no no, your scenario involves zed ganking vayne, not the other way around. Now i'm telling you to try and ambush those 3 champs as an assassin. Also, you're acting like Trist can't do the same; just jump away and auto a few times. If he gets too close, then R and kill him.

If those 3 aren't enough then try to solo kill a late game Azir, Kayle, Kalista and tell me how that goes.

"melts you from range while also having mutliple disengage tools" Wasn't that the whole reason people were complaining about Tristana a while back?

Jinx: -no stun -no mobility -no true damage

vayne: has a stun has a q thats up every like 4s q also makes her turn invis provided she ults ult passively gives her ad and MORE mobility true damage

you underestimate true damage, mobility, and hard cc-none of which jinx has.

Clint Orris2 votes

Yes Vayne is such a highly contested pick in pro play.

It's not like the top 6 ADC's right now aren't "Jinx, Sivir, Corki, Kog, Trist and Kalista"

You're overestimating her true damage, mobility, and hard cc-none. I'm not saying that their weak, but there are so much worse champs out there.

JhomasTefferson3 votes

it's also % health true damage so buying armor and stacking health won't help you

stealthfox942 votes

Jinx is a well designed champ that isn't anti fun.

OperationDEEZ12 votes

Jinx is overtuned (Her numbers are all too high) and is very anti fun. inb4butmuhmobility

stealthfox941 votes

Yeah she's balanced.

UltraSceptile2 votes

Jinx is immobile.

Vayne's mobility is leblanc tier if she's chasing someone and her self peel is just insane.

Mind you jinx is still utterly retarded and should be gutted but i have vayne on a higher priority.

Vekkna2 votes

Problems I have with Jinx:

  1. She doesn't have to choose between building AD and building ASPD early.

  2. She doesn't have trade-offs for doing great single-target and great aoe.

  3. Her passive in theory seems kind of lame but in practice it's incredibly strong at helping her snowball, survive, and push turrets solo.

  4. Zap makes it easy for her to chase you, while Chompers makes it hard for you to chase her. If you're in jungle, you can just forget it.

  5. Fast single-target damage and fast, long-range, high-damage aoe spam means she will always control lane push. It's easy for her to push you back from her tower, easy to keep you under yours, easy for her to freeze, and exceptionally easy for her to CS while poking.

  6. All while having an incredibly good ulti.

MissFortune players would cry with joy if they got any one of these things.

Fadedpf1 votes

If you guys really are crying over Jinx more than Vayne then how about this. Unnerf her mini gun attack speed and remove the 10% extra damage on her rockets. There her Q is still strong, she gets AOE and extra range in Rocket form that can still crit but no longer has that damage steroid.

Vayne is bad because her kit makes you feel not like you got outplayed, but you got cheated by a design that was intentionally overloaded even by today's standards. Combined with the fact that all of her counters are very weak right now and you have a champion that essentially has no answer for anything she does.

Jinx is on the same level as KogMaw in the sense that, left unfocused, he can and will melt anyone he can auto attack like absolutely nothing. There's a composition called 'Protect the Kog'maw' for a very good reason. However, both Kog'maw and Jinx are very vulnerable to strong dives and can be killed within reason.

Vayne however, is very difficult to focus with a 2 second Tumble (And that's BASE Cooldown) which can essentially turn into Invisibility while using her Ultimate, her Condemn could push literally anyone except a Caitlyn, Tristana, Jinx, KogMaw or Twitch out of auto attack range which turns into a Stun if they collide with an object (and don't say anything about Positioning, you know as well as I do her Tumble could be use to turn your good positioning into a stun) Night Hunter feels absolutely ludicrous on a champion that already has good Mobility (I mean her MS is 330 but Tumble is 6-2 seconds, this is completely ignoring item 3006, obligatory item 3046 or item 3087, and MS Quints) and basically guarantees she will chase you down and kill you unless CCed, her Ultimate turns from a item 1037 to a item 1038 and then both of them combined (almost a item 3072 worth of damage)

This is, of course, all on top of her Silver Bolts which cannot be reasonably countered except by picking Malphite and rushing a item 3110 (which just got nerfed, by the way) to slow her attack speed instead of being able to build Health to counter her True Damage or Resistances to counter her Percent Health Damage. There is no meaningful counterplay to it aside from 'CC the living hell out of her' but not every stun is Point-And-Click and considering she can dash more often than Lucian I wish you luck in aiming any sort of skillshot on her.

At the time of her release, League of Legends needed a Tank Killer, someone who could kill the invincible Taric (At one point he was uncounterable, this simple fact leaves me baffled) but now League has plenty of them and we are now seeing champions like Yasuo and Kalista who are considered top tier and even countering entire categories of champions. Then we look at Vayne and realize not only does she counter tanks, she's also extremely good at killing Squishies (because in truth her kit was designed to counter tanks but the actual numbers are aimed at giving her AD bonuses and flat True Damage, which is more efficient against squishy targets)

Basically, the fact is Jinx and Kog'maw are both very low-mobility with limited self-peel because they excel in teamfights and sieging. They have clearly defined strengths and weaknesses. If you dive them, they have a very hard time getting away and can be easily killed. Hell, Kog'maw has one of the worst laning phases of any ADC. Vayne lacks that distinct counterplay because everything that counters her has been nerfed so hard she can bully the bullies out of lane efficiently and after lane ends she's nearly impossible to catch unless she wants to catch you. It's a matter of Meaningful Counterplay of which we find lacking.
