It sucks watching these shout-casters make fun of non-meta picks
Watching teams pick non-meta champions is a huge reason why I watch worlds. And its just sad when players don't get taken seriously when they try something different.

I remember old Malzahar getting picked in EU LCS last year or the year before that and the casters were vicious. Legit I could not believe that people that are supposed to be professional casters were raging on the person playing Malz and the team picking him at all. Even when he did something good they'd still rag on him. I wish I could remember what game it was...
I think they're just excited by the non-meta picks. They don't know what to say about them, so they often end up making jokes due to the fact that they don't have anything useful to say. They don't know the match-ups of these champs so they can't talk about it. When they win with it, r, they really praise the non-meta pick (lucky nocturne) but, yeah, when they lose with it, they really trash talk them (poor Mordekaiser), while it's not just the champion that's good/bad but the comp and the execution.

If the pick doesn't work, I don't see a reason for caster not to make fun of it. It's nothing on a personal(player)related level, it's just the fact that Riot needs to buff them/nerf op ones for them to get the proper spotlight.
I would have liked to see more teams once things were decided to just play fun games. FB's last game had no impact on the standings whatsoever and only one fun pick was made across the board.

No one's making fun of anyone. But if it's clearly out of the meta, they'd mention it. And i've never heard them talking about any pick in a bad manner, they always give at least one point towards the pick, no matter the position. But should they now question the said pick against the typical meta comp? That's the point of casters. They are there to lay out the possible strategies the teams may employ, for the viewers and give us pros and cons of them.
