Lucian W seems like just an excuse to proc his passive most of the time.....

If the target dies quickly after being marked by Lucian W, then Lucian losses that movespeed utility from the W. The only real gain here is another passive proc.

I feel like there should be some reward for killing a target marked by his W in exchange for the utility lost.

What you guys think about this?

I know its a minor thing that goes unnoticed but, Lucian W doesn't have a huge impact to begin with. That's why I brought it up.

it also gives vision if you didn't know that

It's great for kiting for those times when some beefy dood is rushing you down so you W him and keep kiting away with the bonus MS and E.

It's not meant to be a huge part of his burst, though it does add something.

Also it gives vision.

But don't tell me you've never found it useful when kiting. Remember that his entire design was originally built around being slippery, not being the premier burst ADC.

This is a good point, imo. Lucian's W only gives movespeed because it's meant to have you keep pace with the target you marked, not necessarily give some other form of power on top of that. I do agree, however, that his W is underwhelming nonetheless, so I wouldn't be opposed to making it more impactful overall. Combining its movespeed with Relentless Pursuit's CDR to provide a stronger reset on his E on marked targets, for example, could consolidate his kiting power into fewer mechanics.

or just rework the ability entirely? It's one of the least interesting abilities to put on a kit. It has horrible feedback on its damage. and most of the time the ability really IS only used to proc the passive. I understand that Lucian is supposed to fulfill the fantasy of "Gun Priest", but just giving him a weak ability that involves having a cross in the explosion comes across as "We couldn't figure out what would go good in this last slot, so here's a cross for symbolism".

The idea is he marks people so that he can continuously chase them eith the MS boost when he autos them.

You forget how strong lucian's passive is. It also procs on hits. Making on hit lucian amazing. I personally build almost full crit lucian with armor pen and item 3153. The amount of DPS that it adds is insane. So while it may seem bad, his W actually helps his early game so that he has that CDR late game for his E.

yea, but that the point I'm making. His W tends to be used just to proc the passive, and not for the actual damage or utility of the W.

I'm just posting this here cause I thought about it. If luc has guinsoos does that mean each double shot applied on hits 3 times?

If I'm not mistaken, the 2nd attack from his auto does not work with guinsoos, only the first. It can add some serious damage but does not get the benefit of the Guinsoos passive, just the damage.

That's super lame. I am gonna double check when I get home to be sure. But if that's the case I'm pretty sad.

wasnt lucian not that strong on release its only after getting buffs that he became popular?

idk i may be remembering wrong but the way i remember it was that he was buffed some and then received nerf after nerf after nerf after nerf but not so much in numbers as in things that made him really fun and interesting, such as the e cd reduction/reset, the lack of mana cost that they put on it for a while, etc.

SpongebobIsLife2 votes

This is wrong. Basically what happened was, on release, people didn't know how to use and build him and constantly rushed trinity force. Riot made a patch soonish that allowed his q to reset his autos and the Koreans realized that you could then potentially crit 6 times in the same time it took one adc to crit twice. This all happened at the beginning of S4 when the IE rush, rather than the bt rush, become popular.

Release Lucian was sttong on release. It was just another case of people builfing him erong/ not knowing how to play him.

He has a goddamn clense on his E and it reset on every kill with his Ultimate. His ulti also scaled with Attack speed and he had some strong base and AP ratios on top of wat more range on everything from his autos to his q cast.

CasterGilgamesh1 votes

well i would have liked for it to cost less mana imo or at least have a small heal for hitting targets marked by it

T4underbolt1 votes

They should just revert it to initial state with AD scaling and physical dmg.

You guys forget this is a team game...

Lucian's W marks targets and is triggered by your allies as well, giving you the movement speed to catch up.

Not only that, his W is also triggered when you land each of your ultimate's shots.

Meaning the ideal situation for mid-game burst is to land your W on a target and use your ult which gives you the movement speed necessary to keep up and trace the ult target.
