Twisted Fate's AA's

Considering the amount of mobility or burst we see in the mid lane with champs like Zed Leblanc Annie Ahri Fizz Katarina Akali Syndra Brand I think a buff to TwistedFate's Auto attack range and animation speed is in order. Sure, he can punish opponents who get in range, but most of them either don't have to ever get in his range, or take out half his HP before his card even gets to them. Being an auto-attack mage is a fun change from the keyboard smashing of other mages, but it wouldn't hurt to give him a little more love than he's getting.

On a side note, I think his Q is strange and either needs its cone reduced in size so you can actually hit enemies with multiple cards without being within the lowest melee range, or be changed to a single shot and have its projectile speed increased so it can be used without it being required to have hit them with a yellow or red card beforehand.

Thoughts? Discussion? Do you like TF's weird Q and short-range stun? Do you think he's in an okay spot with his tiny gold passive to fight champs with combat passives like Zed Leblanc Katarina Brand Annie ?

EDIT 1: Yes, an AA buff would make him too oppressive as a marksman, which only means he'd then be able to play as a marksman at all whereas he can't right now, and he'd counter Kalista really hard. Maybe lower his W AD scaling to balance?

I love TF how he is. The only change I think he could use is a slightly more natural auto-attack animation. I'd love a longer AA range too, but it doesn't feel like too much of a problem the way he is now. He has the same AA range as Viktor and Kayle, two other auto-attack mages, and 25 higher than Teemo's.

Honestly, my biggest issue is that W is still somewhat unpredictable as to where the cycle starts. So sometimes you have to wait a full cycle to select the right card, and in a hurry (or with bad ping -- East Coast NA!) you can sometimes lock in the wrong card. Missing a gold card is often fatal since it's his only CC.

Gold generation passive is boring but it's very effective, since gold advantage is a wonderful thing. It lets you keep up with enemies even if you're behind a bit in CS.

But Kayle and Victor have other abilities that aren't slow to reach their targets, or in Kayle's case the damage is on every auto. TF needs to land that auto or they aren't moving slow enough to catch with the Q unless they're blind or lagging.

And as a note to you; His card will generally start on the one in the cycle just beforethe last one you used, so you only have to wait for one. That or it'll start on the card you used.

Thanks for the tip! I'll keep that in mind (he's my favorite mid right now, so getting cards right is important!)

I wonder if Riot balances him more as a mage or marksman... that may explain why his range is equal to Graves but a bit longer than Lucian, Sivir and Kog'Maw. A low-CD stun might be oppressive on a longer-ranged ADC TF.

Yeah. That'd be a little too oppressive but maybe taking away the AD scaling on his W would fix that? Or lowering it?

If they wanted to double down on him being a mage only, that could work, but right now he can fulfill either an ADC or mage role. W is his only skill that scales with AD already, so removing that scaling would make him incapable of being an ADC on even a basic level -- it's the only "AA steroid" he has. Take away his W and he may as well be Vel'Koz or Anivia.

He can't be played as a viable marksman anyway, and his E increases AS.

Oh true, I had forgotten about that.

As a TF main, I'd welcome a slight buff to his AA range (nothing too crazy), but I wouldn't mess with his Q. Its main purpose is waveclear and farming, not as an offensive tool against other champs. Besides, if you get your AP up enough, one card from the Q can do massive damage to a champ standing in its way. For instance, I love using my W to stun or slow an enemy in the mid/late game and then hit them with a Q card when they're vulnerable. More often than not it knocks out most (if not all) of their remaining health.

His q is fine there is no damage reduction on it because of piercing

Agreed I wrote riot this same thing . increasing his aa range would do wonders in my opinion to like 575 or 600 would be where I would wanit. Then he could be a adc with out much consequences.. But I run ad marks on tf and some ad from the mastery tree because it makes getting vs so much better

I've recently picked up TF, and I made a similar thread. I don't feel the same way now.

One person pointed out to me that, if you increase TF's range, he'll just become a marksman. His Q would be nigh on useless, and his ult would be strange, but he could stun someone for two seconds and rain down crits on them.

I played a game against a Zed last night. I didn't die once in lane. I did this by staying safe, stunning when he ulted, and taking farm when I could. (Granted, he farmed/scaled into the late game really hard, because he's Zed . . . )

The charm of TF is that every matchup is a skill matchup. You farm as safe as you can, and you gank to snowball other lanes.

His gold passive is actually interesting to me. Thematically, it's freaking perfect. But it also helps him build faster, which is really useful since he usually has to farm pretty safely, and therefore misses some cs. I guess I'm not absolutely opposed to the possibility of a change to the passive, but I'd set the bar pretty high. What do you have in mind?

I like the gold passive as well. The build I use on him is on the expensive side, but the extra gold means I can recall and buy upgrade items before my lane opponent can, which gives me a big boost over them until they go upgrade. By that time, I've managed to pressure them pretty hard, and maybe get some good damage in on their turret.

Well his secondary role is marksman, even if that's such a lie that if they picked him for it in LCS they'd get fined $8000 just like the guy who picked support Jayce. And yeah, you didn't die in lane. But the fact Zed scales so much harder is proof TF needs something. I don't know what it is, maybe an E that actually does something instead of semi-useful passive.

Honestly, I think it's more that Zed's just a bit ridiculous at this point.

TF as a marksman . . . I don't think that'd be fine-able. I'm not sure whether it'd be playable or not. There's a ton of synergy between W and E, and the passive is nice. I admit the rest of it's a bit janky, but in certain lanes, I could see it.

For instance, you could pair him with a Leona. Your lane opponents are not allowed to move. :D

Koreans love TF already, increasing his attack range is a recipe for trouble.
