Is there a point of taking Exhaust on supports?

To me it just feels pointless compared to ignite and there are many reasons it feels like ignite easily outclasses exhaust.

  1. Shorter cooldown: It’s free damage you get to use more often.

  2. Slow from exhaust feels useless: When so many characters can just ignore the slows with their 20 dashes it just doesn’t feel like it doesn’t effect them.

  3. Damage reduction feels pointless: When everyone can get bursted down super fast, even with their damage being reduced by 40% it’s just feels like why bother.

  4. Ignite has Grevious Wounds: Right now it seems like the most problematic champions in the late game are those with either hyper mobility or nonstop heals. Exhaust can’t stop mobility but ignite can at least reduce healing. Espically since no one wants to get healing reduction. It’s clearly way more important to get that second infinity edge Jhin than stopping Illaoi/Aatrox from healing back to full hp.

  5. Burst or be bursted: When everyone can blow up each other super fast and one kill early game means you lose the entire laning phase, it just feels way more important to make sure you get that first blood, even if it means kill stealing as a support.

Exhaust is better when the team has a divers/assassins, otherwise ignite is fine

Exhaust is pretty versitile, I do think you have to consider whether you need the grievous wounds or the damage reduction later because i think in laning phase exhaust is pretty comparable to ignite in terms of getting killls (it's better than ignite to set up a gank for example), and it has the benefit of being dual-purpose, e.g. you can use it defensively in lane phase as well.

Exhaust is great on Support champions that lack cc or hard cc (Sona, Lulu, Soraka, you name it). It's a great way to kill an important target, since It's a point and click slow. It's my favorite summoner spell on Lulu and Rakan, taking Ignite or Barrier doesn't feel that usefull (on those 2 champions in particular).

Lulu has two slows, polymorph and a knock up..

If you think 40% damage reduction wont fuck up a diver/assassin for that duration, then you need to try picking exhaust in your games.

Only Diver that isn't affected hard by Exhaust is MasterYi.

Huh? Have you used exhaust? It completely fuks up most assassins. When I'm playing an assassin, the first thing on my mind when roaming bot is whether exhaust is up and saving my disengage to bait it out so I can roam another time. Exhaust will usually guarantee that my dive fails.

Exhaust is good defensively if the enemy team runs a diver comp or has someone like trynd/yi and your team lacks the control to keep them at bay for a lengthy period of time.

Ignite is good for early kills and to reduce healing, but ignite is not useful if your lane comp is not capable or likely to get early kills.
