Wit's End on Shyvana?

So I've been playing Shyv jungle a lot recently, and I've decided to go Chilling Smite w/ Devourer, Tiamat (upgraded to Hydra later), Boots (situational Tabis or Merc Treads), and then tanks items.

But of course there's BotRK which is amazing on Shyvana since it not only gives as which gives more Q but also gives the active which makes ganking a little easier. However personally I liked going the Hydra route since it gave more damage overall and increased clear a decent amount with Hydra passive and active, plus AoE lifesteal instead of single target.

The problem there is if I were to go both Hydra and BotRK that means even if just getting Tiamat you're putting over 5k into offensive items before wards, boots, and defensive items, plus the almost 2k on devourer. SO that means 9k (wards and boots around 1k each, give or take per boots, amount of wards, etc.) gold before you start getting tanky. Which is a HUGE problem.

So I was wondering, could I go Wit's End instead of BotRK? The pros being 600 less gold with the addition of some MR and addition magic damage, which Shyvana already does a lot of with her W. And Wit's End gives 10% more as than BotRK. However the cons would be no lifesteal (however I would have Hydra late game and at least a tiamat so there's that bit of regen) and I wouldn't get the active that BotRK gives or its passive.

TL;DR: I currently build hydra but am considering another offense item, Wit's End of BotRK (BotRK technically 'better' but Wit's is slightly cheaper and gives some defensive stats.) Should I get the Wit's end or BotRK, or neither and just stick with Devourer Hydra (don't really want to give up either of those).

Thoughts?

Wits end works but your damage will be less. It's up to you.. if you don't need the extra HP with the MR go for it. However getting 2 offensive items in any lane or jungle with shyvana sounds suicidal. Shes a tank, becareful how much damage you build early.

Perhaps you should try it,see how it goes, maybe if your slightly behind try wits end. but if your pockets are overflowing go brok?

I like to try different things too.. But most people of higher elos (my mentor included) usually build things situation to what is happening now.

I guess its not really the build more or less you need to ask yourself.. "What do I need... right now?"

Honestly I've been doing a magic damage Shyvanna styled build when I play her in the jungle.

I get the devourers enchant asap, then boots to farm faster and stick on target when ganking (I like boots of swiftness, harder to peel you off targets, but tabi or mercs are sometimes necessary), then I like to get Sunfire Cape (makes you tanky pretty quickly and it enhances your burnout damage slightly), and then I do actually get a Wit's End. My line of thought on this is that with devourers and wit's end doing magic damage on hit, your burnout magic damage, and the sunfire magic damage, on top of your physical auto attacks, you'll be doing A LOT of mixed damage. Especially since with Wit's End you are also lowering your opponents MR so your magic damage will be doing just that much more!

Ofc finishing off with a multitude of items based on what is required for that match, Hydra, Warmog's, Randuin's, Banshee's, GA, and so on.

So far this build has been working out fantastically, only issue I've had is that without BotRK it's a tad more difficult to stay on mobile champs without your Smite up (as long as you've got chilling smite ofc) and without lifesteal you can't just sit on a tanky enemies face if you aren't really out damaging them.

But idk, has been working out really well for me so far and I think you should try it, your damage is still extremely high for such a tanky champion and with these items you'll have plenty of defense early game to withstand almost anything. And you can't forget that these items are also fairly cheap, so you'll be hitting a massive power spike quite early on as long as you're farming and ganking well.

Wits end substitutes Hydra, not BoRK. BoRK is the superior item on Shyvana because it synergizes with devourer and her lack of CC, while wits end amplifies both devourer and bork with attack speed, even more on-hits and MR steal. Go by your regular build, but cutlass then wits end, and sit on cutlass until you finished Randuins or the enemy front line gets tanky.

been liking going frozen mallet on shyvana, devourer + sunfire cape + boots + randiuns + banshee's + frozen mallet

provides ALOT of health, solid resistances, jungle speed with devourer + sunfire cape early, like randiuns to slow adc's AS and like the frozen mallet for sticking power

IMO Frozen Mallet is core on Shyv. Only way to truly stick to someone.

While i am somewhat bad this is generally what i do. With a speed up and a dash she has all the sticking she needs for a tank so i build her kinda bruisy with a hydra trinity black cleaver. I then go with resistance boots either thorn mail or frozen heart for the major armor boost and finish it with wits end. I end out with about 200+ armor and magic resist (going beyond that is pointless due to the lack of ratio) and about 3300 hp along with decent magic and armor pen. While bork is better for single target fighting i find that ravenous gives me the wave clear i need for 300+ farm unless they surrender. It also increases your aoe bully potential without having to waste the animations on targeting your opponent. Its not the pro's build because it really just covers your faults, but if you get to end game then just sell the ravenous for the bork. Of course this build wastes about 8-9k on offensive items even if they give health and resistances. My advice is really more for a bruiser than a tank. I build in the order needed not the order stated though i generally start by buying 3 long swords for quick damage while i buy the more expensive items

My advice is to not bother with offensive items beyond devourer unless the game's been going on for a long time. My build is item 3710 , item 1001 , item 3143 , and then item 3065. Anything beyond that is just a luxury item. Double-proccing devourer with Q combined with burnout is generally more than enough damage for whatever you need. Occasionally I build an early item 1053 so I can farm longer without recalling but it depends on how the game is going. Regardless, I think getting tanky after the devourer is better than building more damage. Those stacks add up quickly.
