+5 damage on her Q?

On yeah her Q now deals 15 damage instead of 10 at lvl 1, that will make riven playable again against broken tanks like maokai or anyone that rushes armor, this totally makes up for the massive nerfs fighters recieved due to loss of the fervor. NOT.
You know, if you actually wanted to help riven out you'd give her 10% cdr as base stat at lvl1, she lost that with no replacement (lvl 10 with the rune is too late).

Maokai still outrades her by pressing Q on cooldown on her general direction.
Maokai can afk on her after tabi/bramble vest and she'll kill herself if she tries to kill him.
Maokai does all of that in lane while massively outscaling riven (and every other AD figther) in late game team fights

Farm so you get outscaled in team fights against tanks? Yeah good plan.
Theres a reason riven isnt played in competitive, even when she was stronger, because she is completely useless against armor stack and peel/supports in team fights.
Snowballing lane into a lead/win is her only win condition, its the only way she can actually carry a game.

So you are complaining that a midgame powerspiking tank is able to hold their own after 2 dedicated item purchases against an early game bully that is designed to snowball? They still lose early before they get those items unless they outplay you or just accept that they will be down 1/3 cs till they get some armor and play super safe. They will enter midgame vulnerable to magic dmg, especially so early when they bought nothing but armor to avoid getting bullied completely out of cs.
Thats a win. You won lane. You can't fight that full armor Moakai, but your team-mates should be able to sweep them up easily. You don't need to leave lane 4/1/0 to win. This counts.

Speaking from experience, Maokai dumpsters Riven. It doesn't matter whether the Maokai is trash or not, he outdamages her, out CCs her and out sustains her. However, that is quite off-topic since the OP was talking about the buff to Riven initially, which I agree is laughable. If they want to buff Riven they should be adjusting her HP, HP regen and damage on her W as well.

Those are like her only weaknesses. Her lack of sustain. Which

solve plenty well. And her reliance on Q-weaving for dmg. Thats like saying "let's buff akali, we like her sustain, safety and dmg, but lets give her some extra early resists."

Riven hardly ever builds Death's dance though, and even with Doran's shield Maokai still dumpsters her in a DPS since his Q doesn't count as single target damage and his W is % max HP damage (for some weird ass reason, yes give TANKS % damage lmao).

Of course tanks get %health dmg. This hurts tanks more than fighters and squishies. And thus avoids whet noodle fights when 2 tanks are toplane. It also helps with jungling.

Max HP dmg? I think current % HP is perfectly fine, but max HP damage is just silly. Leave that to the carries (namely Vayne).

But it's actually more unhealthy on carries, because they can apply it safely, and more often. It's not like Moakai has range, or an escape. I'm not even gonna get into %health true dmg. Or how they put it on some of the most slippery champs.

So they should put it on a root which makes the champ UNTARGETABLE and it has a low cooldown once you level it? Quality logic.

Given that he won't be leveling it in lane because he needs Q for waveclear, yes. Combine that with a 335 movespeed and the fact that it's a relatively short range, predictable flat dmg root. And it's his saplings that deal %dmg, btw. Which again, predictable.
