a good velkoz
is, and always will be the best support.
he's basically a Nami on steroids.
i didn't build any ap until about 18 minutes, and i still out damaged the next highest damage person on my team by 15k.

no sustain for the ADC, weaker CC.

Your cc is their death. At level 3 you are almost guaranteed a kill. And from that point on doubles are cake boy lane. Not to mention your laser at 6. He's a really strong bully. I play a good amount of Vel'kos mid, the biggest difference is how much higher kill potential you have in lane (albeit mid you still have high potential with an almost auto kill at 6) considering you can save w for killing instead of wave clearing, this lets you do double w when you e, allowing the chance to double proc passive. Cel'lox has always been my main since release. I love the eye :)
I'm not saying Vel'Koz support is bad. Vel'Koz in any lane is pretty amazing. I'm just saying that you don't pick the same ADCs for a Vel'Koz support as you would for a Nami support. Vel'Koz goes best with bursty ADCs rather than sustained damage autoattacking ADCs.
Well if you build
as your first purchase, then I guess it's cool. Or else, you're nothing but a mid-reject like a whipped puppy coming to support when you lost mid lane to someone.
Vel'Koz support is incredible. I just don't think he should be compared to Nami.
I hope when you say "incredible", you mean:
-he damages enemies enough for the ADC to grab the kill, not Vel'koz. -lands hard cc in both situations: improve jungler ganks & saving ADC from trouble.
If you actually meant going Velkoz bot lane as 7/2/9, then this is not "support". It's "kill-bot".
vel'koz getting the kill or the ADC getting the kill is indistinguishable in terms of winning the game. Vel'Koz is still a hard carry even if he's bot lane and has a sight stone. Once Vel'Koz is fed enough he just stands in front of the minion line and the other ADC can't even touch the minions. True story, I've been on the receiving end.
If you're that good at Vel'koz, you should just play him mid lane and actually carry. http://i.imgur.com/kbUhLoS.png?1)]

i usually do. but i saw a leblanc mid that game and decided to go support instead.
that winrate is as mostly velkoz top btw. same with karma and lulu
Too bad you do all of those things and still go 7/2/15.... He's a support. He gets everyone fed.
