I'm perma-banning Janna

Wînter Fox··1 votes·721 views

I'm sick of this skank. 3rd most popular Support, 53+% win rate, and disengages for days. It's hard enough getting catches in this teamfight meta, I really don't need this wind harlot harassing, shielding, slowing, knocking me up and blowing me around.

I swear if I ever come across a Janna Vayne lane and Vi jungle together with their 3 hour chain CCs my laptop is going out the window.

I'd agree, if Janna didn't pay for her disengage by being pretty bad at nearly everything else (its ironic that when champs actually make sacrifices for their strengths, people want those champs nerfed; yet are fine with certain champs who don't make fair sacrifices for their strength)

TL;DR: Janna's disengage is ridiculously strong but, if you take that away, you're essentially taking away her only real strength, what makes Janna, Janna if you will.

Janna is the best supp In the game

Ahri Riven and Jinx are also the most picked of their class while staying at the top winrates, gut them too with Janna

Riven isn't even nearly the highest win rate top laner, lol.

Wukong is.

Anyway yeah Janna is really strong. Probably the strongest support.

Thresh? lol

Fuck Thresh. Even taking into account only players who have played him 125+ times his win rate is lower than Janna's average.

Janna is easily "top 3" as far as supports go. A champion doesn't get one of the highest play rates along with one of the highest win rates without being really strong.

edit: I still wouldn't ban her though. There are better choices.

I kinda disagree with this. Janna is a pretty decent support but lets be honest, she isn't the strongest support, not even top 3 in my opinion. Right now, she might be in the meta (because of the disengage she can offer since the overall meta right now is mostly tanks) but it's a pretty weak champion that many aggressive bot laners can snowball on. I'm not saying she is bad, but she definitely isn't as strong as you think either. Think twice before banning her in a ranked game, I would consider banning other champions.

Who's better? Thresh is the only better choice, and we all know he's been a mandatory champ in every ranked game since his creation.

Thresh is a nice soloQ champion. But Thresh can play from both ahead and behind. If Janna is slightly behind/ahead enemy team then it's pretty bad because unless you have a tanky Evelynn/Seju in your team, your initiation for a game deciding fight equals zero. Nevertheless, Janna is pretty strong but LB, Sejuani, Jax, Zed, Katarina, Rek'sai and many other champions that I can't recall right now can be better bans in a typical soloQ game.

Wanna know how to counter Janna? Literally do anything other than trying to engage. It's not hard.

They've committed an entire member of their team to not fighting. Contrast what Janna does with what Leona/Thresh/Morgana/Annie does, and you'll see what Janna gives up for her disengage strength. Also, if teams need to, they can just pick Nami/Alistar/Zyra and still disengage pretty well.

Would I ever consider using one of my precious few bans on Janna? Hell no, lol.

That's exactly the issue - in this meta right now your only choice is to engage. Everything is about the teamfights and Janna single-handedly screws your only option.

Mandang01 votes

If both teams' only choice is to engage, maybe wait for them to try it? Janna can't do crap in that case.

But that IS her JOB. That is her identity. Just like it is Leona's identity to create engagement opportunities for her team. Just like it is Vayne's identity to farm and then shred tanks in the late game. Just like it is Soraka's identity to heal her carries. You cannot just take a champion's identity away because you cannot play against it. If you play support in the bot lane and you see they pick Janna you can always pick a champion like Sona. Poke them down, the Janna won't use her tornadoes a lot because of the mana cost and she will most likely shield her ADC so you can focus those hard hitting autos on her to get her out of the lane. She isn't that hard to play against. And besides, you are correct, in this meta hard engagement is where it is at, which is why Janna is popular. But for the same reason it is also why Sejuani, Gragas, and Cho'Gath are all popular, hard engages. Janna provides healthy counterplay to a meta that desperately needs it. You shouldn't be perma-banning her and punishing players for a smart choice....you should be applauding them for making a wise team decision.

I 120% agree with everything you said. She's a very smart choice right now and the perfect counter to hard engage- which is why I need to perma-ban her. Don't worry, I wasn't _really _ serious about gutting Janna...I just don't want her to be used by anyone ever again.

Just because she can be a good counter does not mean she is worth a ban. There are many other champs to ban over her.

Her tornado moves slow as shit. If you can't dodge that then you have other problems.

The reason Janna is so successful is that she keeps her ADC alive which leads to the ADC getting fed and carrying.

Vayne is fine. She has a very weak early game and can be shut down by any decent opponent.

Vi needs a slight nerf to her damage. She does too much for how tanky she is.
