Can we talk about Darius' counterplay

Because there doesn't seem to be any. And i know im gong to get shit tons of down votes but his entire kit is unhealthy game play. Champions should get punished for building defensively in the sense that they can't dish out thousands and thousands of damage per second. Go look at my last game. The enemy darius had warmog's thornmail, spirit, b.c, and deadman's. Out of all of those, one is offensive. But it took 4 of our team to take him out. And the problem is he shouldnt be the focus. But he HAS TO BE FOCUSED. because if not he will dish out more damage than anybody there. Like why. Let me just bring up some math for you people. I dont care if you downvote because you can clearly see the actual truth behind this. TL'DR on bottom Darius (Q)Darius heals for 12% missing health for each enemy champion hit by Decimate's blade, up to a maximum of 36% missing health. The hilt of Darius' axe will not apply Hemorrhage. So basically anybody melee can't do anything to him outright. So of course ranged will be his counter. HAH you thought. (E)PASSIVE: Darius gains bonus armor penetration. ARMOR PENETRATION: 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25% ACTIVE: After a brief delay, Darius Airborne icon pulls in all enemies in front of him, Slow icon slowing them by 40% for 1 second, and briefly grants Sight icon sight of the area around the pull. armor penetration. Like it isn't bad enough that if you are even in proximity of him you will get slowed and destroyed. He will just do more damage. (W) ACTIVE: Darius's next basic attack within 4 seconds gains bonus range, deals 40% AD bonus physical damage and Slow icon slows the target by 90% for 1 second. If Crippling Strike kills its target it refunds 30 mana and half of its cooldown. Crippling Strike resets Darius's autoattack timer. So he gets a bunch of slows. Do not sit there and say "he is immobile" No he is not, his base movement speed isn't even low. Darius mov. speed- 340 A good example of someone who is mobile- Katarina, her mov. speed? 345. only 5 movement speed in difference. what even. ANYWAYS, let's look at his ult. You all know exactly what his ult does. It is free. It even does BONUS DAMAGE. Using an assassin as an example is kind of diffucult but put it in this perspective. If katarina got extra damage per reset. The world would fricken explode. Everyone would cry opop. I really want constructive thoughts on this not some b.s "get good" Any negativity will just be reported c:

Tl;Dr Darius' kit is unhealthy and should probably be looked at

juggernauts are designed to be tanky melee carries.

theyre slow and kitable in return. he doesnt neccessarily have to be focused. its just enough to cc and stay out of range.

One game.

You're already QQ'ing about Darius after losing to him in one game......

In lane Darius prefers extended trades, from getting full use out of his passive. Melee's are going to have a tough time facing him, but very quick trades and getting the hell out is what Darius hates, do this until you feel he's low enough to all In.

Did you know it's harder for Darius to kill you if he engages on you? He has to rely on that small slow from W to keep you from getting away from him. Allowing Darius to pull you, and using your dash to get away and make a small trade will beat Darius every time. If you don't think you can get away with your small dished out damage without him hooking you in, then don't.

Exhaust takes care of Darius almost entirely in a teamfight, as with all juggernauts, they hate almost all slows. Especially champs that he can't reach in the backline, like Kog'Maw, slow him and completely shred him before he can even get close.

In conclusion, Kiting is Darius's bane. He prefers extended trades so a quick trade will leave Darius falling short in damage. Pick champs that have high burst in lane and can kite around (Good luck dying to him as Kayle) rather than someone like Olaf. Bursted damage, even if he doesn't die keeps him from prolonging the trades.

Kayle isn't too bad.

Her empowered Auto Attack range is 525

Apprehend is 550 range.

Easy lane easy life post level 3. Zone out Kayle from CS. Her early game isn't powerful enough to shred through Darius and the threat zone of apprehend forces her from getting to the minions.

Gnar is a better counter. Not because he has more range, but when he gets pulled he can just hop out.

Being ranged and kiting him. That's the easiest form of counterplay in the game. Darius is slow immobile. This basically screams insane counterplay. But I mean, sure you want to kill Darius in melee range with a squishy champion maybe? cause muh counterplay?

As a Darius main (over 1000 games total, 60% win rate at diamond) the one thing that counters Darius in lane is burst damage and stickability. What do I mean by stickability? Champs that can stay close to Darius at all times and give him very few opportunities to actually hit his outer Q. A couple of examples are Riven and Fiora . They work very well vs Darius because they not only outdamage Darius unless he gets 5 stacks of his passive but can stick to him so that he cannot his his outer Q or they can easily disengage after a brief exchange. And of course he has to be focused down hes a juggernaut. What he lacks in mobility he makes up in raw power. Their is a reason that only a niche amount of champs can actually fight Darius toe to toe that isn't ranged. Also that's another thing that counters Darius. Ranged kiters. Brand with item 3116 , Vayne , and Quinn instantly come to mind. They make Darius' life hell.

Darius is all about stacking his DoT to go and rage. Deny him that, and he is useless.

I mean, its not hard, let him pull you, trade with him at pint blank until he q's so he doesnt get the heal, and disengage, or if he wiffs his pull, trade at point blank, so he cant heal, then walk away. Darius only wins if you get hit by the tip of his q, and if your ranged, then thats on you.

The amount of crybabies in these boards man. Like the moment they ehy rekt by something they just go and whine about it instead of dealing with it like a man. Sit down think about It. Or let me put it this way. You wanna know what are darius weaknesses? Go ahead and play him and find out by yourself.

Play Ashe, Vayne, or Quinn. Profit.

(Quinn in particular can make Garen and Darius's lives hell, as long as you can play her well. Fun fact: her Q can actually deny their ults)

Your post is full of errors and exaggerations.

  • Q: even if you are melee, you can go INSIDE his range. Only the blade applies stacks and deals heavy damage, and heals. You can safely ignore the damage from the haft, and it will deny him the heal and the stack, and if he can't reach 5 stacks, or at least not as fast, that's a big chunk of damage you're denying him too.
  • Slows: sure he has slows, but he can't freely apply them to anyone. You need to be in melee range to be slowed, and his grab is pretty easy to avoid.
  • Mobility: he IS immobile. Not as immobile as Mordekaiser or Anivia, but having 340 MS isn't enough to make a mobile champ. Your comparison with Katarina who can shunpo 4 times during a fight is ridiculous. Katarina doesn't walk, her MS is irrelevant. Yasuo doesn't walk, Lee doesn't walk. Mobile champions are never defined by their MS, except maybe Udyr, and even that is a stretch.
  • R: it deals Bonus damage according to the number of stacks on people. Which means it deals a lot of damage if you stay to fight. He can't burst you with his ult. And if you don't have stack, the base damage is pretty low.
  • Fighting 1v4: the more people fighting around Darius, the easier it is for him to heal with Q, until he can kill one of you, activate his passive, and then chain-kill the rest of you. The good move against Darius isn't sending more people against him, it's sending the right people. An additional person that will just die first too quickly is helping Darius more than their own team, because they're only a source of heals and easy stacks.

It's pretty easy to avoid dying to Darius. Walk away.
